Tree of Life
- Did you know that the Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom has over 300 animals carved into it? That is an impressive number of carvings. The tree of life is 145 feet tall. Visit the Discovery Island Trails for great photo opportunities of the tree and its detailed animal carvings.
DiVine
- Part human and part plant, be on the look out for the elegant DiVine. Look closely at the vegetation as you enter the park via the path on the right, where DiVine is commonly found. Seeing DiVine move among the plants is a fun, little known happening.
Secret Entrance
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a secret entrance that can be a time saver. Instead of heading to the main gates, go through the Rainforest Café gift shop instead. Through this restaurant’s gift shop is a 2nd entrance to the park, often with little to no lines since it is not widely known.
Kilimanjaro Safaris
- For timing, animals tend to be more active in the morning but the crowds tend to be lower in the evening.
- Another thing to know, each Cast Member tells different facts and stories. Therefore, riding the Kilimanjaro Safaris more than once will give guests a different experience each time.
- Pay close attention to the pond the Flamingos are standing in as you pass by. Impress your group by knowing, the island on the Flamingo pond is a Hidden Mickey! This is just one of the many hidden Mickey’s throughout the park.
Musicals
- More than just a zoo, there are 2 musicals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, that are included with your park admission. Take advantage of these highly rated shows and enjoy Finding Nemo – The Musical or Festival of the Lion King.
Kali River Rapids
- For guests who do not want to ride the Kali River Rapids, there is still a way to get in on the fun. Locate the bridge near the exit of Kali River Rapids and on this bridge you will find a button. The button activities the Elephant statue to squirt water, time it right to get riders wet.
Beastly Kingdom
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom was originally designed to house more than just real animals, but showcase extinct and imaginary animals as well. This is evident in the mysterious Dragon located in the sign of Disney’s Animal Kingdom (see picture at top). This never came to life, although in a way Pandora – World of Avatar does fulfill some of the original plan.
Largest Park
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom is actually Disney’s largest park, with an impressive area covering over 500 acres. This is larger than both Epcot and Disney World’s Magic Kingdom combined. This is due in large part to the animal conversation on site, with much being behind the scenes.
