The year 2018 was a great one at Disney World with the opening of Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios and more. However, 2018 also brought closings to attractions, shops and more. Today, take a look back at 10 Disney World Shops, Attractions & More That Closed In 2018.
February 2018
1. Circle of Life had its final showing on February 3, 2018. Circle of Life was located in The Land Pavilion at Epcot and featured Simon and Pumba in a 20 minute film telling guests about conservation.
2. LittleMissMatched previously found in Disney Springs at The Marketplace area closed its doors on February 25, 2018. This brand carries a selection of purposely mismatched clothing perfect for little girls and tweens.
April 2018
3. Sweet Spells on Sunset Boulevard has closed its doors forever, formerly found inside Beverly Sunset. Beverly Sunset Shop now carries a selection of pre-packaged treats is the only location, other than Toy Story Land, to buy your Toy Story merchandise.
July 2018
4. Children’s Activity Centers for children ages 3-12 stopped its services on July 31, 2018. These locations are now closed: Simba’s Cubhouse at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Sandcastle Club at Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Lilo’s Playhouse at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
September 2018
5. Design-A-Tee at Disney Springs offered guests the chance to create their own Disney T-shirts printed on Hanes. After 9 years of operation, Design-A-Tee is now closed due to lack of popularity.
6. Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre has closed and is no longer operating at Disney World as of September 2018. They offered various watersport activities for over 20 years, from water-skiing to parasailing at Bay Lake.
7. Disney Junior – Love on Stage! held its last performance on September 2, 2018. This show has been part of Disney World for many years. It’s replacement, Disney Junior Dance Party!, is now showing.
8. Star Lord & Groot Meet and Greet ended on September 29, 2018. Coming to the space at Hollywood Studios on January 18, 2019 is a meet & greet for Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc.
9. Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial in Magic Kingdom was a fun show that taught guests how to be a pirate. Young guests enjoyed being picked to be in this show since 2006. Now after a long run, Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Tutorial in Magic Kingdom has come to an end in 2018. The area is currently being used as a meet & greet with Captain Jack Sparrow.
October 2018
10. Rafiki Planet Watch & Wildlife Express Train stopped operating on October 21, 2018. The facility houses world-class animal care, which will still happen behind the scenes. This may or may not go seasonal.
