1. Origin
The Prince Charming Regal Carousel was actually originally built in 1917 and named the Liberty Carrousel. Built by The Philadelphia Toboggan Co. Having a home in Detroit, Michigan at Palace Garden Park then Maplewood, New Jersey at Olympic Park before making it to Magic Kingdom in 1971. This makes it the oldest attraction in Fantasyland.
2. Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel
Upon opening the attraction was known as: Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel. Until Fantasyland renovations in 2010, the attraction became known as: Prince Charming Regal Carrousel.
3. All Ages
This attraction can be enjoyed by all ages, making it a great group attraction. There is no height minimum to ride the Carrousel and it contains options that are stationary.
4. Size
The Prince Charming Regal Carrousel is 60 feet in diameter. Worldwide, this size makes it among the largest of its kind.
5. Carousel
In the name of the attraction, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, guests will notice the variation of the spelling “carousel”. Carrousel is correct as well, simply the French spelling.
6. Cinderella’s Horse
Find Cinderella’s Horse on the Carrousel. Look for the one with the Golden ribbon on its tail. No other horses contain a ribbon on their tail.
7. Each Horse Unique
No two horses are alike on the attraction. Each one was hand carved with unique details. The craftsmanship of this attraction is something to admire.
8. Ride With A Special Guest
Get lucky and ride with a special guest on your Carrousel ride, as characters do ride from time to time. Notably, the Ugly Stepsisters of Cinderella, as they meet & greet in Fantasyland as well.
9. Gold
The Carrousel is set apart as well in the fact that its horses contain real Gold. Disney Imagineers had 23-karat gold leaf adorn parts of the majestic horses on the ride.
10. On-Center
Its original placement in Magic Kingdom was not up to Roy O. Disney liking and had to be moved 8″ so that it was on center with the archway of Cinderella’s Castle.
