1. Formerly Known As Soarin’ Over California
On June 17, 2016 guests were introduced to a new name & video, Soarin’ Around the World, the current attraction today. Previously this attraction was, Soarin’ Over California.
2. Pre-Flight Triva Challenge
While waiting to board, play the global travel themed trivia game in the queue, an exclusive to the Epcot location. Team up with your group to answer questions. Use a mobile device and go to the Soarin’ Challenge website to answer or quickly access from the Play Disney Parks app. Then, earn points and track your progress. High scores will end up on the leaderboard.
3. Land Marks Around The World
Discover land marks around the world on your journey. See sights such as the Great Wall of China, Iguazu Falls in South America, sailboats in Australia’s Sydney Harbour and more!
4. Attraction Vehicle
Soarin’ Around the World seats guests in an interesting “vehicle” for the ride, it is inspired by a hang glider. Guests are seated and buckled, leaving their feet dangling.
5. Height
The first part of the ride consists of guests being raised up into position. Guests are raised 40 feet into the air for their flight adventure. Do note, the gliders are staggered, and raised at slightly different heights.
6. Screen
A huge screen is presented in front of guests during the attraction. It is an 180-degree screen and 80 foot IMAX projection dome, which immerses guests in the experience of the feeling of flying.
7. Smellitizers
Smellitizers are devices Disney parks use to appeal to guests sense of smell. Disney uses many magical touches to enhance our experience, Smellitizers are one of those. Fresh citrus can be detected at Soarin in Epcot. I also love the smell of grass on this attraction!
8. Fastpass+ Offered
Fastpass+ is offered for Soarin’ Around the World. However it is in tier 1 with 2 other popular attractions, Frozen Ever After and Test Track. Epcot has Tiers for Fastpass+, when booking guests can only choose 1 from Tier 1 and then 2 from Tier 2.
9. Number Of Guests Per Ride
Soarin’ Around the World holds 40 guests at a time. There is a waiting area guests are escorted to before boarding, to learn safety rules and more.
10. Hidden Mickey
At the end of the ride guests fly over Epcot, with fireworks in view. Look closely as Spaceship Earth and 2 strategility placed fireworks form a Hidden Mickey.
