I asked my readers in SavEars what they wished they had skipped and I got quite a few responses. Here are the 10 Things Guests Wished They Had Skipped When Planning Their Trip:
1. Trying to do a park day the day we arrived. We only stayed in the park for a couple hours. We thought it would be a great way to stretch after sitting so long, we but we were just exhausted. It wasn’t worth the $25.00 for the extra day. – Lena
2. Animal Kingdom with our kids who were 3 and 1. We thought it was ok but wouldn’t go back for a few years. – Diana
3. Everyone said to get to the parks early and then take a break mid day and go back in the evening. We did that our first day and it was the worst!!! Didn’t work for my kids at all!! The other days we went about 9/10 stayed as long as we could- about 5/6. And then left. It worked so much better for us. – Rivky
4. Wishes Dessert Party – for the 3 of us, it was around $93. Wish we would have used that money for something else. We had already had those desserts at the buffet restaurants & a tree blocked our views on the terrace. We ended up standing to see anyway. – Amanda
5. I don’t wish I had skipped, just wish that I wouldn’t have scheduled my son to do the pirate league while my daughter did the Bibbidi Bobbbidi Boutique. Wish I would have had them do the pirate league together on another day. My son wouldn’t have minded because he would have had more ride time with my hubby and I wouldn’t have missed his experience. Didn’t seem like a big deal when I booked, but I definitely missed this with him and it was so cool for him. – Kaeli
6. Squeezing in Disney Springs. We hadn’t been since before they updated it so we wanted to see everything new. It feels less Disney now. – Brandi
7. Quite honestly, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The parade was great as was meeting Jack Skellington but I felt I paid a ton of money for only that. We had fun but it was definitely a one time thing for us.
8. We’ll probably skip the deluxe dining plan next time. I didn’t feel like it was a mistake or anything, we got to do seven character meals which we wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise, but it did take up a lot of time. We’re not planning to go again until Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land open, so we’re probably going to need as much extra time as we can get. We *will* do Be Our Guest again though, I had one of the best meals ever there. – Michea
9. Souvenir shopping. I really don’t need more stuff cluttering my house. – Lori
10. I would have skipped the holiday food booths at Epcot. We really, really, really prefer sit down meals. I also wish I hadn’t stayed at the Polynesian. – Jennifer

Mickey Christmas party isn’t like it use to be. They have cut a few shows out. If they had more shows , I would go back. Otherwise, do it at least once in an lifetime

Wish we would have skipped trying to follow a plan it almost ruined our trip. Halfway through the trip we just walked around and did whatever when we weren’t going to a fast pass. It was the best! Don’t try to see everything. It’s impossible and it takes the vacation out of vacation!

Absolutely agree that Disney Springs feels less “Disney” now – and so big, it’s exhausting just dealing with parking and getting to it, let alone traversing it to get to the handful of things you want to see/do, which aren’t necessarily anywhere near each other. And I also totally agree with the food booths at Epcot. I’d rather sit down and have a lovely meal than stand in however many long lines to end up with the various food and drink everyone in our party would want. (But they sure are popular!…leaves more dining reservations open for me, I guess!) I also agree with not leaving the parks in the middle of the day to rest – it takes a long time and a lot of schlepping to get to/from then to/from again. That never quite worked out for our family, though I know it works for some. Cheers!

We arrived at the resort just after noon and spent some time there, went to Disney springs for a few hours. We didn’t spend a whole day there but it was a nice evening to just casually wander around and check out shops and the scenery amd it wasn’t too exhausting after a long morning of travelling
