The Disney cruise ships are chock-full of activities and entertainment for kids. Here are 10 things for kids to do on a Disney Cruise:
1. Visit the Kids Clubs – There are 3 different kids clubs on the ship. If your child is between 3-12, they can visit the Oceaneer’s club. Kids 11-14 can visit the Edge club (that means if kids are 11 or 12, they can go to both Edge and Oceaneer’s). Kids 14-17 can visit the Vibe club (14 year olds can visit Vibe and Edge). This is a great place to forge friendships with other kids.
2. Swim – Each of the ships have pools and even water slides for families to enjoy. Make sure to bring your sunscreen and enjoy some time in the pool. There is even a huge movie screen that plays Disney movies throughout the day.
3. Play Midship Detective Agency – There is an interactive game located midship on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. The goal is to figure out whodunit. This is a fun game to play with parents or other kids.
4. Meet characters – Make sure you take something for the characters to autograph (my favorite is a canvas letter) as there are plenty of opportunities onboard!
5. Visit Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – If your child is between 3-12 years old, book them an appointment at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. They will be transformed into a princess or a prince! I recommend an appointment in the early afternoon so they can stay in the style until after dinner.
6. See a new movie – The theaters onboard plays the most recent Disney and Marvel movies. Often these are the same movies that you would find in the theater back home.
7. Catch a show – Many kids will enjoy the nightly Broadway style shows that star a large variety of Disney characters. You don’t have to plan to see every show, but pick at least 1 the kids would like.
8. Eat – There are so many places for kids to eat on the ship. My kids love the free ice cream on the pool deck. Some of the ships also have candy or fancy ice cream parlors (these shop extra). My kids also enjoy ordering fries and nuggets by the pool deck too.
9. Party – There are at least 3 parties that take place on the ship. The sailing away party features characters that dance and party as the ship leaves port. The Pirates Party features characters dressed as pirates that must learn how to do a good job and protect the ship. The See Ya Real Soon party features the characters in their sailing outfits seeing you off the night before your departure.
10. Sports – The sports deck features basketball, putt putt, fuseball and table tennis. Sometimes Goofy himself might even stop by!
Bonus tip:
Castaway Cay – If your cruise includes a stop at the island, your kids can enjoy two different family friendly beaches. Both beaches have a water playground with the second beach having the best one, Pelican’s Plunge. There is also a kids club and teen club on the island (no tween club) as well as a sports area.
