Not spending a day at the parks but still want to be within Disney magic? There is plenty to entertain on Disney property that is not within the parks. Did you know Disney World has 2 mini golf courses on site? As well as bowling and more. Consider these 10 things to do that are not in the parks however still on Disney property.
1. AMC
Head for a movie while on Disney property as there is an AMC theatre located at Disney Springs. This is a perfect non-park day for any kind of weather. Check to see if there are any new Disney movie releases during your trip. Seeing a Disney movie on Disney property would make for a great afternoon.
2. Bowling
Another great indoor activity is Bowling at Disney. Head to Disney Springs and find Splitsville, which also has a dining room attached. Splitsville offers a retro feel bowling experience. Also offered at Splitsville are: bars, billiards and live entertainment.
3. Mickey’s Backyard BBQ Dinner Show
Mickey’s Backyard BBQ Dinner Show is located at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Get ready to dance and mingle with your favorite characters at this barbeque buffet. Characters are: Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, Chip & Dale (Subject to change). This BBQ picnic, with characters, is a lot of fun. Advanced reservations are highly recommended.
4. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique can be experienced outside the parks as well. With a location now at Disney Springs available for guests to visit. Boys and Girls aged 3 to 12 can be transformed into princesses and knights. Get your magical makeover or just stop by and ask a Fairy Godmother for a dusting of glitter.
5. Play Mini Golf
There are 2 Mini Golf locations on Walt Disney World property. Each contain 36 holes, with 2 18-hole courses each (separate admission). First, Winter Summerland find near Blizzard Beach, choose from Summer and Winter themed 18-hole courses. To get to this mini golf course just take the bus to Blizzard Beach and walk over to the golf course nearby. The second location named, Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf, is found at Walt Disney World Swan Hotel. This one is themed after Fantasia, the classic animated Disney film.
6. Aerophile – The World Leader in Balloon Flight
For a thrilling experience try, Aerophile – The World Leader in Balloon Flight…Operated by Aerophile at Disney Springs. Guests can ride a hot air balloon up to 400 feet above other guests, for the ultimate view of Disney Springs available.
7. Shopping
Besides the recreation Disney Springs has to offer, it contains many stores that are fun to browse. Consider: the Basin (for bath bombs & soaps), Days of Christmas (where it is Christmas 365 days/year), Goofy’s Candy Co. (for Create your own treats), Lefty’s (The left handed store – a must stop for anyone that applies), LEGO Store (for the fun displays) and so much more! Then, of course, there is World of Disney, the ultimate store on Disney Property.
8. Resort Hopping
Resort hopping is a great way to experience different pieces of different magic by exploring uniquely themed Disney resorts. Consider the Resorts on the monorail loop for a bonus of riding the monorail too. Or explore the Animal Kingdom resorts to spend your day. Pop Century and the All Stars are fun properties to walk around with larger than life photo opportunities.
9. Scavenger Hunt
This is a fun, free activity. Find one hunt at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge & Resort. Here guests can participate in the Hidden Mickey Scavenger Hunt. Another scavenger hunt is available at Disney’s Pop Century, named the Pop Century Scavenger Hunt. Both are a great adventure.
10. Relax
Stumped on what to do during a non-park day? Sometimes a relaxing day by the pool is all you need. Take a time out and lounge the day away in the sun. Disney World Resorts offer amazing pools and food options on site. This means a day of relaxation without having to leave your resort.
