Even if you are not going to the parks, or going for a limited time, staying on-site still has benefits. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground offers the most recreational opportunities, home to the Tri-Circle-D Ranch, Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-a-Long and more. The Value Resorts offer fun oversized theming, some time to explore is a great way to pass an afternoon. The moderate & deluxe Resorts offer pools with a waterslide, for extra swim-time fun. 2. Resort Hopping
As stated, Disney Resorts are a lot of fun. Therefore, consider Resort Hopping to check out other Disney Resorts. Any guest may visit another Disney Resort and enjoy the amenities (except for swimming). Consider a Horse-Drawn Carriage ride at Port Orleans Riverside. See animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Or, explore the Resorts on the monorail loop, for beautiful views and a ride on the Monorail!
3. Pool
Enjoy a day at your Resort pool. Towels and life Vests for children are provided. Consider purchasing a refill mug, for a one time price and get unlimited soft drink fountain refills. Great to have on hand for a day at the pool. For adults, the main pool at Disney Resorts offers a bar nearby for adult beverages. 4. Character Dining
Character Dining at Disney World is a perfect way to enjoy a delicious meal and meet & greets with characters. There are many opportunities to enjoy a character meal without a park ticket. 5. Pirate Adventure Cruise
Fun for your little one, children age 4-12, are the Pirate Adventure Cruises. Departing from various Disney Resorts, this 2-hour adventure is a great add-on experience.
6. Watch Fireworks Outside The Parks
While you will not see the eye-level entertainment, the fireworks themselves can be seen from various points outside the parks. Learn the 10 Walt Disney World resort locations with unexpected views of the fireworks shows.
7. Dole Whip
Guests can still enjoy a Dole Whip, even without a park ticket. To do so, head to Disney’s Polynesian Resort for the Pineapple Lanai Kiosk located outside of the first floor. Dole Whip is now available for purchase at Pop Century Resort as well. Guests can find the popular pineapple treat, Pineapple Soft Serve on the menu at the Food Court of Pop Century Resort.
8. Disney Springs
A day can easily be enjoyed at Disney Springs. Shopping is plentiful, including the largest shop on Disney Property – World of Disney. See a Movie at AMC in Disney Springs. There is a splash pad for little ones to cool down and splash around. Disney Springs is also home to dining options for all tastes. 9. Disney’s Boardwalk
Disney’s Boardwalk is often overlooked, however it is free to visit and worthy of one if you have the time. Surrey Bike Rentals are offered, for a unique way to explore the Boardwalk. Disney’s Boardwalk also offers dining and shopping. Plus, an arcade, street performers, Carnival Games and the Atlantic Dance Hall.
10. Play Mini-Golf
There are 2 different miniature golf courses at Walt Disney World. Enjoy a round of miniature golf at either Winter Summerland Miniature Golf (near Blizzard Beach) or Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf (Walt Disney World Swan Hotel). Each have 2 18-hole courses to choose from.
11. Watch the Electrical Water Pageant
For a fun evening activity, watch the Electrical Water Pageant from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The Electrical Water Pageant is a 15 minute parade of lighted floats on the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. It occurs nightly at 10pm (weather permitting).
12. Hidden Mickey’s
Find the iconic shape of a Mickey Mouse head hidden throughout Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts. For a fun, free afternoon complete the Hidden Mickey Hunt at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
