Disney World is home to attractions for everyone, including thrill seekers. However, if you are too scared to ride the bigger attractions Disney has to offer, read the 12 tips below. Plus, find out the only attractions that goes upside-down at Disney World, the fastest attractions and more.
Tips to get over fear on bigger rides:
1. Set Goal
Set a goal for your trip. For example, trying one new ride you were previously hesitant to go on. Feeling brave? Try one new ride from each park.
2. Tell People
Once you set your goal, tell your family or people in your group. This sets accountability to accomplish your goal!
3. Over-Thinking
Avoid thinking of worst case scenarios and over-thinking. Riding a roller coaster is statistically safer than driving a car.
4. Relax
Practice relaxtion techniques in line and boarding the ride, control your breathing and take deep breaths.
5. Safety Bar
All Disney thrill attractions has a safety bar or harness, perfect for holding onto. This simple act will make you feel safer, so hold on tight.
6. Eyes Open
Even though your instinct may be to close your eyes, guests will feel more in control with eyes open.
7. It’s Quick
Most of the thrill rides are under 3 minutes long. For example, Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios is over after 1 minute and 22 seconds. Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom last for 2 minutes and 51 seconds. Ride through Space on Space Mountain for 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
8. Watch Videos
Watch videos of the attractions online. Such as POV (point of view) videos on YouTube. This eliminates the fear of the unknown and exposes you to ride, without having to ride it, yet.
9. Upside-Down
There is only one attraction at Disney World that sends guests upside-down, in a loop. It is Rock N’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios. If this is your fair, you only have one ride to avoid!
10. Be Scared
If you do go on the attraction, it’s OK to be scared. In fact, most guests will be screaming alongside you.
11. Ride Speeds
The Monorail reaches speeds of 45 mph, which is faster than many Disney thrill attractions. It may also surprise you how low Space Mountain is compared to other attractions, many guests are intimidated by this ride because it is in the dark.
