Here are 16 helpful resort room essentials Guests don’t consider when packing for Walt Disney World:
1. Ziploc bags – Great for storing a variety of things including leftovers, small toys and protecting electronics in the rain.
2. Dish soap – Clean your resort mug, sippy cups and other items with a small amount of dish soap. I’ve even heard of people putting a dollop on a few paper towels and letting them dry at home before folding them and packing them for Disney.
3. Night light – Helpful to see your way to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
4. Plug-in air freshener – Make the room smell fresh and appealing when you come back from the parks.
5. Over the door shoe organizer – Great to keep bathroom items, small trinkets and other things organized.
6. Pop up hamper – Keep dirty clothes organized in one central spot.
7. Disinfectant wipes – Bring a bottle of disinfectant wipes to give the room a once over when you arrive. You could even pick up a travel size package.
8. Clothes pins – Use these to help hang up wet bathing suits to dry. There is a clothes line in the tub.
9. Toilet paper – Disney toilet paper is not very tushy friendly. Bring your own but make sure you put it up so mousekeeping doesn’t try to replenish your stash by taking the used good roll and leaving their 1/4 ply stuff.
10. Extension cord/surge protector – These will come in so handy if you have a number of electronics to charge.
11. Pump soap – Easier for washing your hands instead of using bar soap.
12. Trash bags – Great for wet clothes, excess trash and sandy toys.
13. Toothbrush holder – Keep your toothbrushes off the counter and organized.
14. Folding step stool – If you have little ones, this will help them reach the sink.
15. Tide pods – Great and easy way to bring laundry detergent for washing clothes.
16. Clothes hangers – They never seem to have enough in the room. Save the ones that come with clothes you purchase throughout the year. Then when you leave Disney, you can just toss them in the trash.

We bring an over a shoe rack and hook in the back of the closet to hold all toiletries. We put everything in the slots the close the door. It keeps everything away and organized. Plus everything is away when Disney cleans the bathroom with spray.

You can also place an Amazon order of snacks, drinks, whatever you want to be delivered to your resort up to a week before reservation. Disney will charge $5 per order for holding.

Ziplock bags for ICE. The bags stand up in the ice bucket and don’t fall in. Plus you can zip it up…

Please do not bring any type of chemical “air freshener”. This includes sprays or car freshener mentioned by another poster. Although they can lead to life threatening illness (as Anne mentioned) for those who are chemically sensitive, they are actually terrible for everyone. Please do your research on “fragrance”. I am convinced no one would want to expose their loved ones to these poisons if they knew the truth about what is actually in that one word. I know we like to believe that if we can buy it, it is safe, but unfortunately, this is not true.

If you want to freshen your room, a small container of white vinegar soaked cotton balls! Leave the cover off and it will attract the bad smells! At the end just put the cover on and toss!

These are GREAT! Thank you.

Clothes pins….holds curtains shut, clothes chip bags, and to hang clothes to dry.
Also a baggie of rice in case you get phones wet.
Anne says
Please don’t bring scented plug ins. They can cause severe reactions in those with fragrance allergies and even put them in hospital. A room they’ve been used in requires an expensive deep clean the same as if someone had been smoking in the room and you may be charged the cleaning fee. Disney rooms smell fine anyway.
Vee says
I read plug-ins are not allowed, due to hazard of catching fire. What we’ve done is take a car air freshener. They are inexpensive, can place anywhere you want and just toss when your trip is over.
Amy says
Clothes pins make great “kick stands” for tooth brushes to keep them off the counter.

We agree on the toilet paper. In all the blogs I’ve read about staying on Disney property not one mentioned how awful the toilet paper is. I even tried to give it as a tip on one blog but they didn’t publish is. But it was a terrible realization. Our digestive system was off from eating so differently, I wish we would have known ahead of time to bring our own.

We used the bounty towels that had dawn in them. I packed 2 per day and cut them in half. Used them to clean out the water bottles. I purchased one roll on clearance at target.

Great idea!!!
Janie says
OMGosh, great idea, didn’t even know these existed! TY so much!

We also bring a sweater organizer. I stack all my kids outfits packed in ziploc bags in it. We also bring a drying rack and a fan. We dry bathing suits and rained on clothes on the rack.
The fan helps soggy shoes dry before they smell funky.
Kimberly Thomas says
Spray air freshener (need I say more lol) and the clothespins we always clip the curtains closed.

Empty or almost empty suitcase to hold all the souvenirs your family buys while in Disney. I even pack a small box, bubble wrap & packing tape to hold a small snow globe or ornament in my suitcase so it will not break while transporting it home. Yes I am that crazy about Disney!
Rebecca says
Your so right about the clothes hanger there is never enough. Housekeeping will bring as many hangers as you need too. For those of us that fly to get to Disney.
Carrie says
Yes! I will be flying so lots of tip lists just seem practical.

One of the best things I think is to pack one of those “sweater organizers”…the fabric shelves that hang in a closet. Helps to organize things in your resort room….there’s never enough drawers and space, and the shelves can be assigned one to a family member. Especially if you have several females sharing counter space in the bathroom!
