There are many attractions and experiences to look forward to at Disney World, it is hard to pick which one I am most excited for! Below are the exciting details we know so far on 20 Upcoming Attractions & Experiences At Disney World 2019 & Beyond.
1. Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration – Begins January 18, 2019
Celebrate Mickey & Minnie at Magic Kingdom with new music, dancing and more fun for a limited time. With the, Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party – begins at Magic Kingdom, dance with Mickey, Minnie and pals in front of Cinderella’s Castle. Listen to the Dapper Dans harmonize tunes to honor Mickey & Minnie on Main St. Plus, enjoy Mickey- and Minnie-themed merchandise and food. Happening for a limited time.
2. Epcot International Festival of the Arts- January 18 – February 25, 2019
Epcot International Festival of the Arts is confirmed to return for 2019. This fun festival at Epcot celebrates all things art, from visual, performing and with foods. The Disney on Broadway Concert Series will also return, offered daily.
3. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – Confirmed Early 2019
Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy promises to put guests into the Cars story for the first time. See Lightning McQueen and more in Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy near Rock n’ Roller coaster at Hollywood Studios. Plus guests can meet with Cruz Ramirez outside the racing academy.
4. The Science Behind The Seeds Tour Coming To Epcot – Confirmed Early 2019
An upcoming exciting program for students (groups of 10 or more students or Scouts) in grades K-12, is called The Science Behind the Seeds. This new Disney Youth Education Series focuses on the science behind the production of sustainable food. The program is 3 hours long, at the Living with the Land attraction in Epcot. It includes hands-on discovery involving science, technology, teamwork and sustainability. It will be offered year-round.
5. Pixar At Hollywood Studios – Begins January 18, 2019
Guests will find The Incredibles at Hollywood Studios as Pixar Place becomes Metroville city block (January 18- September 30, 2019). Celebrate the deeds of Mr. & Mrs. Incredible and Frozone in a party, at end of block. Edna Mode will be available for meet & greets and Jack-Jack may make an appearance! Plus, Walt Disney Presents will host a meet & greet with Mike & Sulley from Monsters, Inc.
6. Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party – January 18 – September 30, 2019
Coming to Discovery Island to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Disney’s The Lion King. Dance with Characters from The Lion King. Special 3D photo opportunities such will be available.
7. Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival March 6 – June 3, 2019
Dates for the 2019 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival have been confirmed. Among other favorite festival happenings, The Garden Rocks Concert Series will return. However for 2019 guests can enjoy the Garden Rocks Concert Series daily! Plus, for 2019 the festival runs into June, with previous years ending in May.
8. NBA Experience – Confirmed Summer 2019
The NBA Experience will be coming to Disney Springs, it replaces former Disney Quest. The building is inspired by modern architecture. At the NBA Experience guests can look forward to interactive games, competitions and immersive experiences. It will also host a new restaurant and gift shop – all themed around basketball.
9. Millennium Falcon Attraction (unnamed) – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Confirmed Coming Fall 2019
Guests will be in control of their own ship (seating 6 in a pod) with 200 buttons, knobs and switches in the cockpit. Each seat will be able to help with a role and control the ship during the mission from Hondo Ohnaka to bring back the loot. Travelers who complete a poor mission and then go to Oga’s Cantina could end up on a local bounty hunter’s list. This is the first attraction at Disney to have the outcome of a ride connect to other experiences in the park.
10. Battle of the First Order (unnamed): Galaxy’s Edge Confirmed Coming Fall 2019
Disney Imagineers have built a fleet of X-wing Starfighters, these are full size and made of metal. Putting guests in a battle with First Order and the Resistance. This attraction does not have a name yet.
11. Oga’s Cantina – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Confirmed Coming Fall 2019
Black Spire Outpost, the name of the village in the new land will have a brand new Cantina. The Cantina will be run by Oga Garra, and guests may see unruly guests, smugglers or a stormtrooper. Adults and children alike will enjoy. For adults, sample drinks that are out of this galaxy and children’s choices also on the menu. During your stop enjoy music by RX-24 (former StarSpeeder 3000 pilot droid at Star Tours). He is now a DJ for the cantina.
12. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – Expected Opening 2019
Believe it or not, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be Disney’s first attraction to feature Mickey Mouse himself, for a ride-through attraction. This attraction will feature an all new original song and a brand new cartoon short featuring Minnie & Mickey at a picnic. The engineer behind the ride, is none other than Goofy, putting guests into the movie screen, on an unpredictable journey, with Mickey Mouse and his friends. Disney named the technology for this attraction, 2 1/2-D, (as opposed to 3D), as no 3D glasses are needed.
13. Disney Skyliner System – No Opening Date Announced
Ride with your favorite characters pictured on each gondola, characters to include: the Fab Five and more beloved Disney Movie Characters. The hub of the Skyline System will be located at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, acting as a transfer station between gondola routes and will also feature a new restaurant.
Guests will be able to connect from Epcot to Disney’s Riveria Resort, then to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. From there guests can transfer to Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation Resort. Expected opening is in 2019 however, not confirmed.
14. Replacement Show For Illuminations: Reflections of Earth – Fall 2019
IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth has been a nighttime staple at Epcot for nearly 20 years. However, it is now confirmed IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth will come to a end after summer 2019. Then a new show will debut at the World Showcase Lagoon immediately after IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth ends, with an expected Fall 2019 opening date. Stay tuned for more details on the new show upcoming.
Epcot is planning for a multi-year transformation, and the new fireworks show is part of the plan. Also in the works is a new table-service restaurant next to Mission: SPACE.
15. New Table-Service Restaurant Coming To Japan Pavilion – No Opening Date Set
Disney has confirmed a new table-service restaurant will be found at the Japan pavilion in Epcot in the future for guests. This will be a signature dining experience. Operation will be run by Mitsukoshi USA, who currently operates the kiosks, merchandise and current restaurants in the Japan Pavilion. The new eatery will draw inspiration from the natural beauty of Japan.
16. New Ratatouille Ride For France Pavilion – Expected Completion By 2021
Construction (behind the scenes) has begun for the expansion of the France Pavilion at Disney’s Epcot. Epcot’s France Pavilion will be getting a new Ratatouille inspired attraction. The expansion of Epcot’s France Pavilion is said to also include new stores & restaurants.
17. Immersive Star Wars Themed Hotel – No Opening Date Set
An immersive Star Wars themed hotel is coming to Walt Disney World. Guests become part of a Star Wars story throughout their stay, including as soon as you arrive. Upon arrival, guests become a Citizen of the Galaxy and be fitted in appropriate attire. Stay in a self-contained spaceship and windows will have galactic views. Expect character interactions during this truly immersive experience, unique by guest.
18. Tron Lightcycle Power Run – Expected Completion By 2021
An all new Tron inspired indoor roller coaster attraction is coming to Magic Kingdom. The coaster will be built in a currently unoccupied area next to Space Mountain. The new Tron attraction is based on the current Tron Lightcycle Power Run in Shanghai Disneyland (above picture).
19. Guardians Of The Galaxy Attraction – Expected Completion By 2021
The foundation has been poured for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy attraction coming to Epcot. When completed, this attraction will be among the world’s longest enclosed roller coasters. This attraction will be housed in a brand new building, adjacent to the Universe of Energy building.
20. Walt Disney World Resorts 50th anniversary Celebration – Confirmed 2021
Many of the attractions and experiences coming to Disney World beyond 2019 have an expected completion date of 2021. This is because 2021 is a significant year for Disney World, as they celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. Stay tuned for more exciting details on the 50th anniversary celebration.
