Babycenter — My stepping stone to becoming the bargain hunter I am today

I joined Babycenter in 2004 when I was pregnant with my daughter. They have this amazing board called Bargain Hunters. That is where I began to get interested in saving money. At first it was mainly online deals like Amazon.com. But then a coupon thread formed. It was huge. Over 1,000 posts a week. I was intimidated by it at first (this was before I used coupons religiously) but in January 2008, my resolution was to become active on this thread.

So I joined the coupon thread and I began to learn how to save at the grocery store. I spent 8 months reading every post on the thread and it gave me a great foundation. I don’t go back to the coupon group much (it’s now called Coupon Deals for Bargain Hunters) but it is still a great resource for finding deals and asking questions. I owe those ladies so much!

Another great feature of Babycenter is birth clubs. They have a club for every month of every year. I was very active on the May 2004 board for years until it dwindled down to nothing. But it was fun to have other mothers whose children were the same age as yours to ask questions and share opinions with.

Then I joined the March 2007 board when I got pregnant with my son. But I didn’t stay with his board much. I spent most of my time on the Bargain Board. But it was more than just bargains. It was opinions, life experiences and drama! Oh there was so much drama and it was so entertaining to watch it unfold.

But the most beneficial feature of Babycenter, besides the hundreds of message boards, is the weekly emails they send you starting when the stick turns blue and continuing on as your child ages. I still get emails on development for my son and daughter. They are so interesting!

So if you are a mother or thinking of becoming a mother, you should join Babycenter. It was such a huge part of my life for so many years. And because of it, I have met 5 of the greatest friends a girl could ask for. I’ve known most of these ladies since 2004 and we still chat on a daily basis. It’s great to have friends whose children are the same age as yours.
