Give a Day, Get a Disney Day is Disney’s theme for the year. You can go here for more information.
Basically, you go through Disney’s site to find a volunteer opportunity in your area. Anyone over the age of 6 can volunteer.
When I first heard about this program, I was excited for the people that could do it… but I didn’t think we could. The program advertises that if you volunteer, you get a ticket to Disney for a day. That really didn’t benefit us since our kids are too young to volunteer. We would still be stuck paying for their admission (and it ain’t cheap!)
But today, I learned that there are other things you can get with your ticket.
You can donate it to charity
You can get a Special Hat figuringe with unique trading pins (great for a collector as this is likely the only way to get these)
Or you can get FASTPASS Special Exchange Cards
Nobody knows the exact details of the FASTPASS Exchange Cards, but they assume it will be like the Birthday FASTPASS cards. If that’s the case, you can read about it here.
The FASTPASS Special Exchange Cards will be valid for up to 5 people. So we are thinking that we can use mine on one day and his on another.
I’ll post more as I find out more.
In the meantime, I am super excited that my husband and I are going to be feeding the homeless on Monday, January 18th.

Hi this is in regards to a post you made eariler today.
I am a Disneyland employee and wanted to let you know that the promotion only goes until Dec 15th. You can use your ticket anytime this year once you recieve it. Dec 15th is the very last day to use your free ticket. DO NOT wait until Dec 15th or later to use it as it will not be accepted. I hope this information helps.
Thanks for all your hard work on the blog I love it!
I just signed my husband and myself up for a volunteering opportunity! So excited!
If a group of 8 goes to volunteer at a food pantry at the same time, will each person get a ticket? Just wondering if you can clear up that question for me and maybe others?? Thank you! :)
Yes. You will all 8 get a ticket. :)
I signed up yesterday and me and my husband will also be feeding the homeless but I chose February 14 since it is Valentine’s Day and I thought it would be special doing it together (giving of the heart and all). I still don’t know what I’m going to cook yet but there is a website I came upon http://www.recipesforacrowd.com/ that will probably be helpful, if anyone else is also doing that opportunity. Thanks :)
This is allowing my family of 6 to go to Disney for the first time! My youngest is 6 and we signed up to make blankets through the Linus Project (no-sew kind is accepted).
We’re so excited, but I’m so lost!
So glad a blog friend sent me to your site! Thanks for the info…I’m subscribing!
Me and my family spent the day taking care of an orange grove that is owned by a Methodist Church organization. The oranges are donated to homeless shelters and food pantries and that sort of thing. We pruned the trees, raked around the base, dug up roots etc. We then picked and bagged oranges and even got to take a bag home ourselves! …It was a great day! We live 30 minutes from Disney and cant wait to use our tickets! Even better….my kids now want to volunteer once a month!!! They are 7 and 14. Yahoo!
That sounds so nice BJ! Lucky you for living so close and how amazing that your kids want to volunteer monthly now! That is fabulous!!
