Give A Day nearing it’s 1 millionth sign up and might close registration

in Posts

If you are planning on participating in the Disney Give a Day, Get a Disney Day promotion, you need to go ahead and register now. They are nearing the 1 millionth person to register for the program and once they do, Disney has said they will close the program. (This has nothing to do with redeeming your voucher, they will simply close it to new sign ups.)

So if you plan to volunteer you need to go ahead and start setting things up now!

Here is the email sent out to some people who registered today:

“Disney plans to shut down the registration system in the next day or two, so you need to complete your registration immediately. If the system shuts down before you complete your registration, THERE IS NOTHING JRA CAN DO. We are very sorry to share such unpleasant news, but we want to be sure that everyone who is scheduled to come to JRA on either March 14 or April 11 has the opportunity to receive their Disney tickets.

If you were planning to volunteer at JRA between May-November:  It is unlikely that you will be able to get a free Disney ticket.”

(Thanks Dis Unplugged!)

I tried earlier this year to volunteer but I never received an email from the event.

I then tried again earlier this week (thinking we may use the ticket on our shuttle launch trip next month). The charity emailed me back in less than 24 hours. I am SO glad they did! Now I am set to finish my project next week and have vouchers in hand before our trip.

As far as the ‘make a blanket’ program goes… Do you know if you have to register once for each family member? Or just once for the family as a whole?
Thanks!

Julie – Each person needs to register in order to be eligible for a ticket.

We got ours! We love to volunteer anyway but we knew this wouldn’t last long…so we jumped on the band wagon early. I’ve already printed my vouchers. My family is going to Disney for a day. We would never be able to go if it wasn’t for this opportunity. We are all excited. We got our DVD in the mail and are trying to decide between Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. We are leaning towards Animal K. Thanks Disney!

Does this mean you have to have the event completed or just signed up to do so?? I am waiting for the date from the organization.

I’m wondering about this too. I just signed up for the project Linus. I got an email back, but it didn’t make much sense. So I’m asking them questions. I haven’t started on the blankets yet, but now I’m wondering if I need to hurry up so that I can submit a completion date soon before these vouchers run out.
