The Princess and The Frog Reminders

in Posts

Here are 2 deals that I have discussed:

* If anyone knows of a better deal, please leave a comment letting us know.

The movie will contain a slip of paper on the inside for Disney Movie Rewards. I recommend saving this code until a Double Points Day. (No word on when the next one is though)

If you buy the Blu – Ray / DVD combo pack, it will include a digital version of the movie. You can use it to watch the movie online at Disney Movies Online.

Family Movie Night – We want to have a family movie night and watch the new movie. I’d love some ideas on what time of food we can serve (I’m thinking Gumbo but I have no idea how to make it) and an activity or two that we can do based on the movie. We had family movie night with Snow White and I want to make it a weekly thing at our house. All ideas are welcomed!

My husband got our copy of the DVD at Walmart today! I’m so excited. Too bad he won’t be home until 8:30.

Movie night sounds awesome! I don’t like gumbo myself (a big deal when you’re from the South) but here’s a 5 star recipe from Paula Deen you might wanna try: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/gumbo-recipe/index.html

Diana at Fairytale Feasts made it and posted pictures and her review on her blog here: http://www.fairytalefeasts.com/2010/02/louisiana-fairytale-mardi-gras-chicken.html

Thanks for all the deals! Can’t wait to see how your Princess & The Frog movie night turns out!

A family movie night is such an awesome idea, and Friday is a fabulous night for it. Let us know your verdict on the movie!

It want help for you tonight, unless you could get it at a local store (Target or Walmart) While we were in Orlano in Jan. We were in downtown Disney at Once upon a toy and my girls went crazy for Princess Tiana cookbook. It has a gumbo recipe in it. Here it is on Amazon…

Also you could do some of the green insired desserts and snacks from Betty Crocker. Most of them have green……they could be for frogs this time and not St Patricks day.

Question for you, I am wanting to build up our collection of Disney DVD’s. I got Tinkerbell a few months ago when it was released with a coupon and rebate and will do the same with Princess and the Frog. When Disney releases new DVD’s do they normally have coupons and rebates? I saw a preview they are re-releasing Beauty and the Beast and I was hoping to get another deal! Thanks for your help :)

We usually just do popcorn or caramel popcorn for movie nights. (-: I got the last Blu-ray combo with coin purse this morning at my Target.

Kristin – I lived in Charleston, SC for 10 years and while granted it isn’t Louisiana, they have a lot of the same foods. In SC they call Shrimp and Grits and Shrimp Creole “Lowcountry” dishes. Either of those would be good, or you could make my favorite, Frogmore Stew – and I have totally just realized how well that name fits in with the movie!!! I didn’t think of it until I started typing it out! :-) Don’t worry, there are no real frogs in it, just the most incredible mixture of shrimp, sausage, red potatoes, and corn on the cob. It is SO easy to make, and once you have it you will be hooked. I’m going to give you a link to 2 different versions, both very similar, but you can see which one sounds better to you. The second one mentions an optional dash of hot sauce. Here they are:

and

If you need recipes for Shrimp and Grits (there are about a million ways to fix it!) or Shrimp Creole, just let me know and I will be happy to send them to you. I hope you enjoy the “stew” if you give it a try! Happy movie night and thanks so much for all you do!

Hey girl!! This is a FABOOO Idea and I am totally gonna borry it. ;) (That’s right – i’m southern – we say borry down here!..rhymes with sorry…course I don’t personally say it unless i’m bein silly)

So here are ideas i’ve had:

Red Beans & Rice with smoked sausage – I don’t think my babies will be too thrilled with gumbo.

Thinking an ants on a log type thing with apples…but calling it flies on a leaf….you know? Cause prince naveen & princess tiana try to eat the fly….

I thought about using chicken tenders as frog legs or something but I almost think that would be creepy and maybe traumatic for my kids. What do you think?

also gonna have marshmallow caterpillars.
