A very complicated deal to get Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and The Princess and The Frog for $5.97

in Uncategorized

Right now Toys R Us is offering $15 off any Disney Blu-Ray when you pre-order Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2. You will have to pay $10 to pre-order the movies.

They currently have The Princess and The Frog on Blu-Ray for $26.99. When you pre-order the Toy Story Movies, you can save $15 on The Princess and The Frog.

There is a $10 coupon for Princess and The Frog here.

You will pay $1.99 for The Princess and The Frog after the discount for pre-ordering the movies and the $10 coupon. (Plus the $10 to pre-order the moves … so $11.99 total today)

Toys R Us will have Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2 for $16.99 ea on Blu-Ray DVD combo pack on Tuesday. There is going to be a $10 off the Blu-Ray coupon when you upgrade your current Toy Story movies (details here).

So the math on Tuesday looks like this:

$33.98 for both Toy Story and Toy Story 2

- $10 that you already paid on the 2 movies when you pre ordered them

- $20 in coupons (2 $10 Blu-ray coupons for upgrading)

$3.98 total that you will pay on Tuesday.

So you have paid a total of $15.97 for all 3 Blu-Ray movies.

Plus you can submit for 2 of the $5 rebates (listed here) for Princess and The Frog and end up paying just $5.97 for all 3.

This deal is working for numerous people on Slick Deals. You can read that thread here. You will have to go to Toys R Us either today or tomorrow to get this deal started.

I hope I explained this one as easy to understand as possible. It kind of baffles me too.

THANK YOU Kristin!!! I knew you had to be working on this. I was just beginning to put all the pieces together on this one too.

Do you happen to know if this pre-ordering is done in store? I guess it sounds like that from your stating above that you have to go to TRU today or tom. to get the deal started.

The only bummer for me is that I won’t be able to get the $10 upgrade coupons since I don’t currently own either of these movies….still a great deal though.

I am planning on getting Princess and the Frog as my extra Disney movie.

Thanks again!!

Is it just the blu rays or the combo packs?

Reply

7 Kristin March 19, 2010 at 3:44 pm

It’s the Blu-Ray combo packs.

can you use the 5 dollar coupon on the disney website on top of the upgrade coupon for toy story?

I just went to TRU and I pre-ordered TS1 & TS2 (10.00) and bought the princess & the frog (26.99).

Somehow I got 20 off + my coupon and I walked out paying 7.38…

I’ll have to look at my receipt later to see where the extra 5 went…

People are talking about this happening on the thread too. But I didn’t want to say anything. ;)

Kristin, it’s true. I just did the same thing as Missy, except my total was $7.73 after tax. Here is where the extra $5 came from.

If you look at the card that you take to the register to pre-order the combo packs, it states on the front: Reserve BOTH (TS and TS2) and save $15 on any disney movie $19.99 or higher. Reserve ONE and save $5 on any disney movie $14.99 or higher. I looked at my receipt, and it turns out that the register took BOTH of these off the other disney movie. It’s all in the way the discounts were applied I think. You pre-order the TS and TS2. Then The Princess and the Frog rings up at $34.99. Since you’ve pre-ordered TS and TS2 and you’ve spent $19.99 or higher on another disney movie, the register deducts the $15. That brings your subtotal (for the Princess and Frog only) to $19.99. Since you’ve pre-ordered TS and TS2 and you’ve spent $14.99 or higher on another disney movie, the register deducts the $5, bringing your subtotal to $14.99. Then finally, the $8 instant discount for buying the Princess and the Frog comes off (they have it advertised as regularly priced $34.99 but $8 off at $26.99). Then, the $10 manufacturer coupon for the Princess and Frog comes off, leaving your subtotal at $6.99, a total of $3.01 in overage for pre-ordering TS and TS2.

I’m not sure if this is a mistake in the register system or not, but the cashier and I could not believe it. She was very awesome and allowed me to pre-order a second set, which I will use as gifts for a niece and nephew.

By the way, the card says “deposit must be made by 3/22/10″. I’m guessing “deposit” means pre-ordering. I found this card in the movie section. HOpe others are able to get in on this great deal, and I really hope it wasn’t a mistake in the register system that wasn’t really supposed to happen.

Wow, what a deal! Of course I already bought (and opened) my Princess blue ray on Tuesday
: ( Now I’m trying to decide if there’s some reason I need a 2nd copy, along with the blue rays of the Toy Storys…I did get a $5/$25 postcard from TRU this week. Anyone know if I could use that along with this deal to really come out smiling?

I know this is “cheating the system”

But what about doing the deal, and then taking your reciept from the one you purchased tuesday and the new copy of Princess and return it? Just a thought.

WOW !! Is there any where 2 get the DVD type for such a great deal?? Thanks

Reply

Jamie the combo pack comes with the BluRay AND the DVD, and it is probably going to come out cheaper for you just to buy the combo packs even if you don’t have a BluRay player. I can’t say that for sure as I have no idea what the deals are for the DVDs only, but this is a super good deal – 3 disney movie BluRay/DVD combo packs for right around $12 before any rebates that you might submit for the Princess and Frog.

The Blu Ray DVD deals are almost always cheaper than the DVDs. It’s crazy! But you do get the Blu-Ray, a DVD and a digital copy of the movie!

I also got the extra $5 off and the cashier insisted that it was right even after I pointed things out! Plus I had already bought the movie at target and luckily didn’t open it and when I returned it the computer wouldn’t return it at the after-coupon price so I actually made $10. The manager said to just give it to me even after I pointed out the error!! Crazy deal! Thanks, I’m actually getting a huge profit from this! All this plus movie tix and I am getting a steal!

AWESOME deal! Question though, is there a certain way you need to hand over the Princess and the Frog to purchase, TS&TS2 pre-order slip and coupons to maximize this deal ($20 off instead of just the $15)? or will the register do it automatically? What order did you gals do?
Thanks in advance!

Reply

23 Emily March 20, 2010 at 12:33 pm

Cheryl, this is how I did it. First I handed over the TS1 and TS2 pre-order card, then the Princess and Frog DVD Blu Ray combo pack. Then I handed over my $10 Princess and Frog manufacturer Q. When the cashier hit subtotal, all the above mentioned discounts on the Princess and Frog combo pack came off automatically. The subtotal came to $6.99 plus tax. I’m not sure if it matters or not, but I would hand over the preorder card for the TS combo packs before the Princess and Frog just to be safe.

The only issue I see is for the TS1 and TS 2 blu rays is this. At the http://www.disneyupgrade2blu.com site you have to print and mail in a form in order to get the $10 coupon via email. Either that or I am doing something wrong.

Actually, you can print the $10 Toy Story coupons at disneymovierewards.com. Sign up if you are not already a member, and then enter the UPC codes off of your old copies (DVD or VHS), and it will automatically take you to a link for the coupon. These coupons are also advertised on their homepage. HTH!

I called my Toys R Us and they said I wouldn’t be able to get the coupon for the other Disney movie until the two Toy Story movies come in? Did you actually leave with Princess and the Frog?

Reply

29 supersaversarah March 20, 2010 at 12:56 pm

You will leave with P&F DVD and a slip for your pre-order for the other DVDs. You’re not getting any sort of a coupon. When you pay, the Toys R Us promo automatically comes off your order. I walked in, got Princess & The Frog on DVD/Blu Ray and got the card to pre-order TS 1&2. Cashier rang up the three items (P&F DVD and TS1&2 pre-order barcodes), scanned my $10 printable coupon and I paid $6.99 + tax and left. Tuesday I have to go back and pick up TS1&2 with my pre-order receipt.

Just got Princess and the Frog Blu-Ray plus preordered TS1 and TS2 for $6.99 here in Austin, Texas, there were about 4 of the Blu-Rays left at the TRU on 35 and Parmer. This is an awesome deal…my husband was amazed!!! Thanks!

It gets better! At my Toys R Us if you purchase $30 worth of P&F merchandise you can get a free kissing frog. Retail value $20 http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Princess-Kissing-Frogs-Giftset/dp/B0029LHXJE
I grabbed two P&F Easter egg dying kits to get my total over $30. This deal just gets better and better as the day goes on!

You would have been able to get the kissing frogs without anything extra. The reg. price of the blue ray combo comes up first and then take $8 off to bring it to the sale price, so nothing else was needed.
Still an awesome sale. I bought extra copies to donate to the giving tree at christmas.

We did this deal too but with Ponyo since they didnt have The Princess and the Frog, it did take both the $15 pre-order coupon/credit and the $5 pre-order coupon/credit off automatically. My husband was way impressed! And I am glad that our movies will be there waiting for us instead of us having to go all over looking for them like we had to with The Princess and the Frog.

Don’t forget this is actually a money maker because you will get the 2 free movie tickets to go see Toy Story 3! And I think they are up to 8.50 each!

I did this deal today and for some reason it actually gave me $20 off instead of $15 so I only paid $7.97 for the 2 reservations and the Princess & the Frog BluRay Combo pack! Plus I’ve heard that the Toy Story Combo Packs will have a movie ticket to Toy Story 3 which makes this an even better deal! One question: Is the price of $16.99 only for tuesday and where did you find out that price? One of the people at our store said it would be 34.99 – I sure hope he was wrong! :) Thanks!

41 supersaversarah March 20, 2010 at 11:24 pm

I’ve seen the ad, and the DVD/Blu Ray combo packs will be on sale for $16.99 when you buy both TS1 & TS2 starting Tuesday when they’re released. The ad also mentions the TS3 movie ticket offer inside.

This deal worked for me too! Toys R Us took off both coupons and I walked out of the store paying $6.99 (+ tax) after purchasing Princess and the Frog and pre-ordering both Toy Story and Toy Story 2! In addition, I stocked up on Band-Aids at Target last week using a MQ and Target Q so I will be able to submit 1 Band-Aid rebate and 1 Succes Rice rebate! If I did the math right, I think I will pay $0.97 for all 3 movies! WHAT A DEAL!

Another suggestion, I currently own Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on VHS, but not in the original cases. What a dilemma, right? WRONG! I made some Swag Bucks by searching for the UPCs so that I could print the $10 off coupons…I may be technically “cheating the system” but since I already own the movies, I don’t feel too bad about it!

The MIR on the Princess and the frog & Band aids started on Sunday 3/14. Double check your receipt date if you bought them last week.
