It seems like everywhere I turn there is another offer for another credit card. Most of the time, I roll my eyes, shred the offer and move on. But when an offer comes in the mail with Mickey Mouse, I have to take a second look – hey, we all have our weak spots.
After checking into the details, I now a card-carrying-Mickey-Mouse-Visa Mom. (Before I tell you the details, remember credit card offers vary based on your credit scores, time of year and more.) The application that arrived in my mailbox offered $150 Disney Reward Dream Dollar after making my first purchase with the card. Yes, $150! With plans in the works for a stay out at WDW in the fall, $150 will make a nice dent in the bill. Plus, by using the card to pay for everyday purchases, I will earn even more Disney Reward Dream Dollars to go toward our trip.
Of course, no one needs another credit card, but if you are money-smart and only use your credit card to purchase things you normally buy with cash anyway, rewards cards are a fantastic way to “save.” Since the Disney Rewards Visa Card from Chase doesn’t have an annual fee (like some other rewards cards), it’s like getting free Disney money when you shop. (In order to gauge how many points you can earn in a year, use the fancy calculate on the Disney Rewards site.
Take a look at the card’s perks:
* Earn 1% on all purchases – for every $100 you spend on the card, earn 1 Disney Reward Dream Dollar.
* Use your card and promotion code DRVCMEMBER to save 10% every time you spend $50 or more at DisneyStore.com and Disney Store retail locations in the U.S.
* $50 onboard credit on a Disney Cruise to use toward shopping, dining, spa treatments and more during your cruise when you book with your card and ask for booking code DCC.
* 0% interest for 6 months anytime you use your card to book Disney vacation packages through the Walt Disney Travel Company, your travel agent, or online at Disney sites.
* 2010 Mickey Celebration Collectible Pin – only available to card holders.
* Perks at Walt Disney World:
o Character Meet ‘N’ Greet at a private Cardmember location and a complimentary 5 x 7 photo
o 20% off the non-discounted price on select tours
* Perks at Disneyland:
o Character Meet ‘N’ Greet at a private Cardmember location and a complimentary 5 x 7 photo
o 10% off at select dining locations
o 20% off the non-discounted price on select tours
o 50% discount on stroller rentals
These perks are great for those planning a trip to the parks, but for those who won’t be visiting the parks, you can also redeem your Disney Dollars for rewards vouchers to be used at national stores such as Target for movies, music, toys and more. Click here for details.
And guess what, there are still more perks! Click here for even more offers.
Finally, Disney lovers rejoice – its fun to open your wallet and be greeted by the smiling faces of your fav Disney characters.

there also is a debit card one as well….and what makes you chose this card vs a cash back card which has a higher rate of return?
I have found that the 1% cash back with no annual fee is a pretty good deal as far as rewards credit cards go, plus the discounts which you get as a cardholder make it an excellent deal. If you read the fine print on Discover’s cashback, for the first few thousand dollars in purchases each year you are getting significantly less than 1%.
I know the debit card has an annual fee, so that’s a dealbreaker to me. I’d much rather use PerkStreet Financial (www.perkstreet.com) and get 1% back.
Sounds great to me, we are planning a trip in late september thanks to all the saving i been doing!
I have a disney visa and we use it everyday to pay for EVERYTHING, including my husbands business trips that he gets reimbursed for. We are very disciplined and pay off our balance each month, so we never, ever pay interest. In just a year and a half we were able to gain 386 disney dollars. This paid for more than half of our food during our 5 day trip to disneyland earlier this year. We already have another $65 dollars. We plan on using these for my daughters birthday/christmas presents in December.
We have a Disney Visa and use it as our primary credit card. The rewards add up! We just requested our Rewards Card for our June trip and have almost $200 to pay for special treats throughout our vacation.

We have had our card for about 4 years now and just LOVE it. We have used to get the free pics and to get in to see the characters. We also went on the Keys to the Kingdom tour last year and saved 10% just by having the card. We don’t wait until the bill comes to pay it off. We pay it once a week most of the time on Mondays, by paying more often it saves a little bit interest each month. We are planing a trip to Disney for Thanksgiving this year and hope to have enough Disney$ to pay for our Dining Plan!!
Love to hear the tips!! Another great way to save for disney trips
We use our Delta Amex for the same reasons – airfare to Disney! The interest rates are super high though, so we make sure we pay it off in full every month.
I just got a Disney Visa 2 months ago and now I use it for EVERYTHING! I used to just use my bank check card. Now I use the Disney card and pay it off every month. It is free money for Disney! I wish I had gotten it sooner. I was not aware of the 2010 pin. How do I get one of those?
I am also a “use my Disney Visa to pay for everything” person. It’s great–I use the rewards and apply them right to my room and ticket package–then, whatever I earn after I’ve paid off my trip, goes right to souvenirs!
I have the Debit version & I love it!
This is something to look into…
I love my Disney Visa card too. It’s amazing how many comments I get from cashiers on the card and how cute it is. My favorite purchase was volunteering 2 years ago to be the one to plan a family reunion. I booked everything on my Disney Visa and then everyone paid me back by check. I earned lots of Disney money that way. :)
So how much is the annual fee for the Debit version? I have been thinking about getting one of these cards because we want to plan a trip to Disney soon. I think I’d like a debit card better, but I don’t like the idea of an annual fee.
$25 a year
you know Jeff, I didn’t realize that about the Discover card until you said something. it’s really making me rethink it.
How do I get an application “mailed” to me like you mentioned? You said your offer was $150 Dream Dollars. I know I could apply online, but I would like to see what they would offer me if they mailed me the info.
We have been talking about getting the debit card. I think I may be calling Chase to talk to them about this.
I’m definitely going to get one of these!
We were planning on paying for a new car for me with cash. Instead I think I will get the Disney Card and pay for my car that way and then turn around and pay off the card with the cash we have stashed. Great way to earn some money for a Disney trip.
I will definately be looking into this! Every little bit helps fund the trip.
I love my Disney Visa!
I have the credit card and I do not have a fee with it. I applied online from the WDW site and it said I would get $25 credit after the first use but I actually got a $40 credit. I wasn’t going to complain about that!
Thanks for all the positive feedback on my post! And thanks for Kristin for the opportunity. A couple of people have asked about the pin. The pin costs $9.95, but it is only available to card holders. Get all the details to purchase it here http://disneyrewards.disney.go.com/offers/mickeypinjan10.html.
HeidiR – I didn’t do anything special to get the card mailed to me, I was just lucky. After researching the card, I saw offers out there for $15, $25, $40 and $50 too. I would call Chase and tell them that you know there are other offers available and see what they give you. Looks like someone else saw $25 online and called and got $40.
Another note – in addition to the small annual fee for the debit card mentioned in a comment above. The debit card only earns .5% back instead of 1% on the credit card.
I hope everyone will stop by my blog http://www.TheSuburbanMom.com to say hi!
I didnt know about all that.
Everytime I read something about this card, it really makes me want it. I think I am going to have to make it my “put everything on it and pay it off” card soon. Bye-Bye citi rewards.
Need one of these.
So if I already have a chase card can I turn it into a Disney one? Plus I was planning to open a Chase Bank account. So could I get a Disney debit through that?
I have thought a lot about getting this card a lot. It is something I definitely will do in the near future.
Great post!!!!!
Carrie – it is a specific Disney Chase card that offers the rewards. You would have to sign up for this specific card or debit card (more details here http://disneyrewards.disney.go.com/). I don’t know about Chase, but I know MC won’t let you change to a different type of card. They are happy to help you open a 2nd, but you can’t just switch (at least that was my experience with MC). But it never hurts to ask :)
Thanks for the link! You can get a debit card by opening a chase account. Plus I have an offer for a 100 dollars for opening an account. I was planning to open the account to keep track of my Disney vacation $.a
I saw a Disney rewards debit at Chase Bank a few months back-think I’ll check if they still have one
Got One! But I only got $40 off :,(
I signed us up today!!! We also got the $40 statement credit after the first use. Oh well, its still free money to go into our 2012 Disney fund!!!
I love my Disney Visa, I use it for everything, house and car note etc.. I only have to write one check at the end of the month, it helps me stay in budget with the monthly printout. You don’t really realize how quickly it adds up. You also get free 5×7 at EPCOT at your private meeting with Mickey. They also offer your all kinds of discounts and specials. Free dining deals are also offered to Disney Visa Card holder first.
Grrrrrr…..GO figure I got approved yesterday ($40 statement credit) and today I get 2 different offers in the mail. One for $200 Disney Dream dollars and the other $150……ugh….oh well.
Just found a link for the Disney Visa card that gives you a $100 statement credit after 1st use… http://www.mychasecreditcards.com/1020006/Default.aspx?CELL=6JJT01
I also recieved the $150 offer invite last week, and I had to take a second look and make sure that it was true! Like you, I am not a fan of credit card carrying- but as a Disney goer, I felt like it might be a good idea to earn the points towards our trips! We are also going in September, so I am excited to use the GC when we go! :)
