This is a shopping trip that my reader Carrie took all the coupons she had gotten from the 5 A Day series and went on a spree!
Here’s my shopping trip where I spent a whopping $3.28 for all this stuff!
2 Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce
Kraft Homestyle Mac & Cheese Dinner
2 Lawry’s Taco Seasonings
2 Family Size (27oz) Frosted Flakes
…KoolAid Fun Fizz
Ritz Crackerfuls
Glade Long Lasting Essential Oils Kit (smells awesome!)
Mrs. Richardson’s Fudge Topping
Kettle Potato Chips
Oscar Meyer Ham
Marzetti Bleu Cheese Dressing
Kemps Ice Cream (Had 2-$3 off coupons, they had buy one at $3.99 get one free at the store)
DiGiorno Pizza
Kraft 100 Calorie Cheese Packs
Sunny D
3 Large bags of Red Vines (actually received in the mail!) And I still have MORE coupons to use, but I’m saving them :o)
Received all the coupons thru 4 and 5-a-days! I’ve emailed 100 companies in the last 3-4 weeks which make the products we use in our house and have received many great coupons from them. Most were all honest compliments, a few were complaints or suggestions. I didn’t expect to get so many free item coupons, but I’m very thankful for them! I’m heading into maternity leave in less than 3 weeks, and both freezers are PACKED thanks to all your good deals and all the coupons I’ve used. THANK YOU!

what is this 5adays thing? what do you do, just contact the companies?
Shannon – Check on the right side of the website here, about 1/2 way down? There’s a link to the 4-a-days and 5-a-days. It explains it there. Basically, I went thru my cupboards and looked up the companies that I like, and emailed them about the products I used and why I liked them. I made sure to give them my mailing address, even if they didn’t ask for it, and they mailed me coupons (some where for free products, some were high value coupons, some where small, but it all adds up). These were all free coupons, and 4 high value ones that I used.
Just be honest when emailing companies, the more personal I made the note to them, seems like the better the coupon I received :o)
Awesome! I have e-mailed 4 companies and received coupons from 2, GREAT coupons!
I am getting ready for my Boboli House party tomorrow, and used 6 of 8 $5 coupons they gave me. So I was able to pick up a 12′ two pack for 6.74 minus 5=1.74 that is .87 a pizza! Of course, I need ingredients on top so I have been very creative and the only thing I have bought so far is stuff for the desert pizzas! I just put together a “Thanksgiving Pizza”, it has all the trimmings. I spent in all the ingredients for a WHOLE pizza $1.70 because I pulled from my pantry and you know I paid hardly anything for that stuff!
11 more pizzas to go and I can’t wait to see how empty my pantry is ready for some new deals!
Total score!
NICE!
Maybe I’m emailing the wrong companies. I’ve gotten one response in the mail with coupons. The others are just emails thanking me for my input/compliments.
Me too Holly! I e-mailed 6 companies and only got e-mails back to thank me for my compliment. No coupons for me. Wonder what I am doing wrong?
I only get coupons from about 25% of the companies I’ve been emailing.
Many of the emails didn’t say they were sending me coupons. It took a week to two weeks to get some. Keep emailing! The coupons will follow!
Awesome! Good luck with the baby! :-)
I first got into e-mailing companies when my daughter was in her first few months. I used to hold her for 15 minutes after each feeding in order to prevent spit-ups, and it was a great time to get on the computer and do stuff like sending e-mails. Now that she’s older (just turned one!), I haven’t done it in a while. I need to get back into it! Your experience is motivating me to do just that.
Kristin…
yes, I do kind of agree. a lot of the companies that I have contacted (mission, jennie-o turkey….etc) have just emailed me back and said, thanks for the compliment, we’re glad you like our products and are faithful to our brand, and we do not have any coupons available. we suggest you check your sunday papers…
I thought that’s kind of rude in a way to tell me, sorry, just check your paper.
And these are companies that I am truthfully faithful to, i’m not just trying to get coupons on stuff I don’t normally buy.
Do you have any suggestions? Do you think this is because so many people have caught on to emailing companies? I have really only received coupons when I have had to complain about a product (only once-glad trash bags were crimped and ripping).
It is discouraging… do you phrase your emails in a certain way?
help!
I agree – it’s sort of a different version of a complaint I used to have about phone and cable companies. Those of us loyal customers who always paid our bills on time and bought all their services and whatnot never really got any bonus for doing so. It’s only the complainers and the new customers they’re trying to lure who always seemed to get the great deals.
I do seem to get better coupon response when I’m complaining about a problem with a product rather than when I’m giving a (sincere) compliment because I love the product and buy it all the time (so I’m really helping their bottom line!). But, in general, I’ve been at the 5 a Day program since I found this blog, and the results have been extremely good, for the most part :)
