Round up of the Toy Story 3 deals

in Posts

Tomorrow is the big release day for Toy Story 3. I am so excited to get my hands on this movie and I want to make sure you get the best possible deal you can get…

The Coupon:

$8 off the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack (this includes a DVD copy of the movie as well as a Blu-ray)

The Rebates:

$5 back when you buy Toy Story 3 Combo pack or DVD and 3 Campbell’s kid’s soup products

$5 back when you buy Toy Story 3 Blu-ray DVD combo pack and 2 packages of Rayovac alkaline batteries (12 pack or larger)

The Campbell’s rebate requires that you send the original receipt plus proof of purchase tab. The Rayovac rebate allows for a copy of the receipt plus the UPC from the movie. Thus you could do both rebates for $10 back!

The Deals:

I believe you can use the rayovac rebate twice except Rhode Island. So if you wanted to buy the DVD as a gift and the combo pack for yourself you could actually get $15 back in rebates. I am getting the $3.99 DVD at CVS, using the $5 rayovac rebate(giving as a gift) and then buying the combo pack using $8 off for my house and then getting $10 back in rebates. So both the DVD and Blu-ray/DVD combo pack for approximately $6! At least I am hoping it goes that way!

2 Kristin from Couponing to Disney November 1, 2010 at 11:58 am

The Rayovac one was really confusing but it says up towards the top of the fine print limit one per household*. Then at the bottom it says except in Rhode Island where it’s limit 1 per person. :(

I have a headache after putting all those deals together. Too much math. ;)

I would interpret that to mean that in all states except RI – it is one per household, but in RI more than one person in the same household can submit. Good for RI, not so good for the rest of us…

Would we be able to use the $8 coupon at CVS?

Reply

5 Rosie T November 1, 2010 at 12:27 pm

Probably not for the $3.99 price, becuase that is just the DVD and the $8 coupon is only good on the 4 disc combo pack.

Toys R Us question.

I peordered the (3) Toy Story 3′s and paid $5.00 deposit ($15.00)
On the preorder card it says Pre-Order your copy of toy story 3 blue-ray combo pack AND save $10 when you buy any disney Blue-ray $19.00 or higher.
Does that mean I’ll save an additional $10.00 on this DVD? Or does that mean I have to buy another DVD to get the $10?
The pic on the preorder post card says Blue-Ray + DVD + Digital, We should be able to pay the lower price, it does not show the additonal DVD with the bonus content.

I know you can get the free popcorn tin and clock, but I didn’t want to pay a lot for the DVD What is the best deal? (If I have to pay the higher price, I should be intitled to 3 clocks and the 3 popcorn tins) right?

TRU $34.99 states a Blue-Ray + DVD + Digital copy plus Blue-Ray with bonus content

Walmart $24.96 Blue-Ray + DVD + Digital copy
Target $24.99 for Blue-Ray + DVD + Digital copy plus Blue-Ray with bonus content

I do have the $8.00 coupon and the $5.00 deposit to subtract from the DVD making it $21.99 to pay out of my pocket.

Do you have any thoughts on this to help me when I go to pick up the DVD’s tomorrow?

Reply

8 Shari November 1, 2010 at 4:04 pm

Again, my preorder deposit from TRU says:
Pre-Order your copy of toy story 3 blue-ray combo pack AND save $10 when you buy any disney Blue-ray $19.00 or higher.

Do you think this means I get an additional $10 off? because I preordered? If so, I’ll pay $11.99 plus get a clock and popcorn tin.

Or they tricking me into buying another DVD?

the Toys R Us deals are always get $10 off a different movie when you pre-order… so you shouldn’t expect $10 off of TS3, but your pre-order acts like a $10 coupon for a different movie.

And the Blu-ray + DVD + Digital is probably the 4 disk one, even if the pre-order didn’t mention the 4th disk. As I understand it, its the 4 disc combo pack (the only one with both the Blu-Ray and the DVD and the only one the coupon is good for), JUST the Blu-Ray or JUST the DVD…

If I were a Toys R Us employee, I’d tell you that if you were buying them all in one transaction that you’re entitled to 3 clocks but only one popcorn tin, since that spend $30 or more, not for every $30 you spend. So if you want 3 popcorn tins too, do 3 different transactions.

Hope that helps. Also, if you HATE the price at Toys R Us (I do!) you can always cancel your pre-order and get your deposits back.

Rosie,
Thank you for helping me understand this transaction. I think I will go in there tomorrow to see what they say, then I’ll deceide if it’s better to cancel my preorder and go elsewhere to get the movie cheaper.
I don’t really want the clock or the popcorn tin, but actually I’m paying for them by paying the higher price for the DVD.

I did two different orders . Toy Story 3 plus another disney movie . Got 10.00 gift card for having 40.00 in disney movies a free popcorn tin and the free clock. I used the 8.00 toy story coupon and the coupons from the toysrus coupon book they gave out when you bought Beauty and the beast. Had no problems at all. The register automatically took off the free items and gave me the 10.00 gift card. Their are alot of cheap disney movies to put with toy story to get the 10.00 gift card.

12 Emily November 2, 2010 at 1:08 pm

Is there a time limit on cancelling your pre-orfer and getting your deposit back? I never knew you could do that. I also hate the price at Toys R us.

Reply

13 Emily November 2, 2010 at 1:06 pm

You should have gotten $10 off a different Disney DVD priced $19.99 or higher when you pre-ordered the Toy Story 3. Many people (myself included) did the Toy Story 3 pre-order to get Beauty and the Beast for very cheap. I think the Toys R Us cashiers are not very informed of these pre-order deals though, so unless you had known that going into the store, they weren’t likely to tell you to pick up another DVD and get $10 off at that time.

Hey Kristin!

If memory serves me correctly – doesnt Toys R Us price match print ad prices from competitors?? If so – you could go to TRU for the BlueRay/DVD combo pack and get it for $24.99 (with the wall clock) instead of $34.99 by price matching the Target circular. And still use your $8 MQ… sound right?

The iTunes store has Toy Story 3 (digital version only) available for pre-order for $9.99 today only.

Reply

I would like to know about the price match too. I wonder why TRUS is so high on this deal… $34.99 is CRAZY to pay for that the day of release. Also if you preordered from them you get the $5 you paid for the preorder toward you purchase. So if they price match at Targets $24.99, use your $5 credit and $8 coupon it will be $11.99 out of pocket. File for the rebates and you pay $1.99 OOP, not bad!! This assuming they will price match!

Reply

21 Stephanie November 1, 2010 at 5:41 pm

Toys R Us is higher because of the free items they offer with the purchase. That is their incentive. When Tinkerbell came out, they charged full price but gave a free watch with purchase. But when Beauty and the Beast came out they dropped the price for the first week because there where no free items attached. I’d rather have the price drop than the free items. But I talked to my local Toys R Us and they said they were willing to refund the $5 pre-order price even though I got $10 off Beauty and the Beast for pre-ordering Toy Story 3. I was shocked especially since I told them I bought 16 of them but we will see how it goes when I try it tomorrow…They did tell me that Toys R Us is no longer price matching which is why they were willing to refund me the $5 but it’s probably up to your store manager because every time I call customer service for Toys R Us they tell me its up to the managers discretion.

Couldn’t you use the $5 rebate from Campbells at CVS for the DVD as well which would make it $5.99?
It says ‘or DVD’.
$5 back when you buy Toy Story 3 Combo pack or DVD and 3 Campbell’s kid’s soup products

23 Shannon November 2, 2010 at 7:45 am

I was wondering that same thing, both the Rayovac and the Campbell’s say Blue Ray or DVD so I would assume that you can do both!

Reply

25 Kari November 1, 2010 at 3:22 pm

there will be little “tabs” on the top of the surround on the DVD, they say proof of purchase.

Reply

26 Kari November 1, 2010 at 3:07 pm

I wonder if TRUs has the price so high because they lost their butts on the Beauty and the Beast deal? lol! Still, I am taking the target add to have them price match.

Reply

27 Kari November 1, 2010 at 3:38 pm

Just spoke with a TRUs employee at my local store – they do not price match. I asked about refunding my $5 pre-order fee so that I could go to Target and get the better price – they will do a return on the deposit.

I took the lazy way out and pre-ordered from Amazon — plus I can use my Amazon gc earned from swagbucks, so the DVD will end up being free. Gotta love free!

Reply

29 Carrie November 1, 2010 at 4:50 pm

Both rebates say I can buy either the blu-ray combo OR dvd…I think I’ll do the DVD, do both rebates, and get it for $5.99 at Target. Otherwise when I do the blue-ray combo pack I end up spending a dollar more in the long run for a Blu-ray disc I won’t use. For Beauty and the Beast it came out almost even because the coupon was $10 instead of $8.

30 Amanda November 1, 2010 at 7:24 pm

So, here is my thinking and math on the TRU deal. I pre-ordered 2 copies of Toy Story so my math is 69.98
– $10 for pre-order
– $ 16.00 for 2 coupons
-$ $ 10 gift card for buying $40 in disney movies
if you got the coupon book with the Beauty and the Beast ther is a
-$ 3 coupon wyb Toy Story 3 and other movie
or possible -$5 on any 2 Disney Kids First
making them 15.49 each or with the $5 coupon 14.49 each plus 2 wall clocks and a popcorn tin as well as the $10 in rebates.

Does anybodd know if you can use the $10/$75 and the disney $10/$40 on the same items?

31 Jennifer November 1, 2010 at 8:51 pm

This is what I am doing tomorrow, I didn’t even realize you got a $10 gift card when you spend $40 on a disney movies. What is the $10/$40 coupon?

Reply

32 Shari November 2, 2010 at 11:28 am

Here is what inspired at TRU on the Pre-order
I ended up buying 2 Toy Story 3′s

$34.99 for DVD/Blue Ray combo pack
- 5.00 deposit
- 8.00 coupon
$ 21.99
then I was able to use the coupon for $3 from the TRU DVD coupon book

Because I bought 2 DVD’s I was given a $10 gift card towards future services.
My total was $40.98 for the 2 movies.
Actually, it cost $23.99 per DVD x 2 $47.98, but if you subtract $10 gift card it cost $18.99 per DVD.

Because there were no future pre-orders I didn’t get an additional $10 off towards another movie as stated on the pre-order card.

I got 2 clocks and 1 popcorn tin. $10 gift card for future order.

Sorry not a coupon but a $10 TRU gift card when you purchase $40 in Disney movies. But I am wondering if you use the $10/75 purchase coupon from the toy book if you still qualify for the gift card.

35 Anna H November 1, 2010 at 10:46 pm

I wonder the same thing. Wondering if the freebies that come with the movie would also count in the $75 purchase. If so, then possibly a good deal to be had.

Reply

37 Katie November 2, 2010 at 10:21 am

Just went to Target this morning to purchase the 4 disc combo pack and the cashier in electronics said that you cannot use the coupon to purchase the Target special edition of Toy Story 3 (which includes the buzz toy)….which was why I went there instead of Walmart, but oh well. It was a good deal anyway. Also the Campbell’s rebate can only be done for Beauty and the Best OR Toy Story 3…so if you already did it with B&B then you can’t do it again, it’s a limit 1.

The $8 off manufacturer coupon is intended for the Toy Story 3 DVD/Blu Ray combo pack, not the DVD only packs. Typically in the past, Disney has released a coupon of lesser value for the DVD only packs, but I haven’t seen one for Toy Story 3.

A better deal can be got at Best Buy if you also want to purchase Mater’s Tall Tales. The transaction goes like this:

Buy Toy Story 3 Combo pack: 24.99
Buy Mater’s Tall Tales: 24.99
-$5.00 off Mater: from Best Buy for purchasing TS3 and Mater
-$8.00 Disney Coupon
Total:
$36.98 That’s $19.99 for Mater and 16.99 for Toy Story 3

Then. Submit for the Cambells and Rayovac Mail in Rebates and save $10.00
Final cost: $19.99 for Mater and $6.99 for Toy Story 3.

41 Erin H November 2, 2010 at 5:51 pm

I forgot to put in my previous post that I used a $5.00 reward Certificate from Best Buy on my purchase. So in the end, I paid $1.99 for Toy Story 3 and $19.99 for Mater.

I see the same deal can be got at Target (minus the reward certificate). The advantage for Best Buy is that your purchase would count toward another reward certificate.

I found a manufacturer coupon today at Kroger for $6.00 off the dvd, bluray or combo pack wyb Kraft Macaroni and Cheese 5 pk and a package of Capri Sun (10 ct). It’s advertised in their weekly ad–they had stacks of these tearpads at my store. The coupon expires 11/10

I bought the special Buzz pack at Target. Does anyone know where the proof of purchase tabs are. It’s not on the plastic package and the movies didnt come in a box they were in the “backpack” disc holder.

They did let me use the coupon because it was a dvd/blu ray combo pack.
