We have been to Disney World 3 times but we have not eaten at Rainforest Cafe yet. Every trip I intend to eat there, but it just doesn’t work out.
But when we go in November 2011, I am planning on dining at the Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom and I hope to do it for FREE!
My Points has a $50 Rainforest giftcard for 6750 points. I am saving towards it and hopefully I will reach my goal. I currently have 2742 points and I just added another 60 points to it by answering polls and entering a sweepstakes.
If you haven’t joined MyPoints yet, I highly suggest you do. You earn points by reading emails, answering surveys, printing coupons, shopping through their links and more. I have been a member for 5 years and I have earned about $300 in gift cards in that time.
Be sure to check out all the ways you can add to your fund as you Coupon to Disney!

I love the rainforest cafe. We’ve eaten there twice. My children love it when there is a thunderstorm in the cafe and the animals come alive. Plus when ever anyone in the restaurant ordered the Volcano dessert the waitresses would yell out VOLCANO! We didn’t eat there this past trip since it isn’t apart of the dining plan, but hopefully sometime we will go back.
I just booked it for May, and it came up under the dining plan. I’m off to double check now. I know the T Rex isn’t under the dining plan.
We go to Disney a couple times a year, and each time we eat at Rainforest Cafe or T Rex Cafe…FOR FREE through mypoints! It is expensive…my husband and I and our two young kids use $75 in gift cards, but that includes the amazing volcano dessert. The coconut shrimp are FABULOUS!! I also just found out you can print out reward charts for .99 kids meals from the Rainforest Cafe! That’ll save us even more when we go in June!
thank you Melissa, that is a fantastic tip about the rewards charts!!
I’ve been saving up My Points points for about a year (only doing the email click thrus and the occasional survey) and finally had enough to cash in for a Rainforest Cafe gift card. I ordered the gc about 3 weeks ago. We’ll see how long it takes for it to arrive. Getting a free Rainforest Cafe gc is actually a pretty good idea because even though it’s on Disney property, they are not operated by Disney and is one of the few restaurants that are not included in the Disney Meal Plans.
Rainforest Cafe is owned by Landry’s Restaurants and they have chains all over the U.S. so in theory you should be able to use it at other Landry’s Restaurants if you end up not going to Rainforest Cafe. I recommend calling the restaurant to confirm this though.
I usually use MyPoints for gas cards as some of the survey sites don’t offer them as rewards. Once I get enough gas cards to cover most of the gas I’ m going save for the Rainforest. I wish they’d start offering Disney cards!
I use to take a group of honor roll middle school students to Disney every year as part of a special program. We always included a meal at Rainforest Cafe as part of the itinerary. We always went for breakfast because I feel that is their best meal (try the Tonka Toast!!!!). Book for the Animal Kingdom one early in the day, take a moment to shop in the Rainforest Cafe store after eating(some of the cheapest and best soveniers were scored here…can we say T-shirt, cup, plate and figurine for $10?) and go through the back straight into the park, bypassing the crowds at the entrance when things start picking up.
We are planning our first trip for our children to DW this June :) Thank you ALL for all the tips….plan on using them!!!!
We joined the rainforest club and they send me a $10 off coupon for my birthday that is good for almost 2 months after… so we go there JUST for amazing volcano dessert… you still get the show but without the pain in the wallet. Or we share an appetizer. Drinks prices are WAY too high… HINT: Take your own crazy animal theme cup and ask for water :)
We’ve been to the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Chicago several times while on vaca and once at Downtown Disney. We ate at this location instead of AK location because several Disney blogs had unflattering comments at the time. I think if we went again it would be just for atmosphere-never been blown away by the food. Slow service and pricy. Our favorite restaurant at WDW is Sci-Fi Drive-In. Kids love sitting in cars and watching old B sci-fi flixs. We didn’t go expecting great food- we got that at the Italian restaurant at Epcot.
I completely agree Renee! We’ve eaten at the Downtown Disney location twice and I felt completely ripped off, very poor service topped off with very expensive, not-so-great food. But….if you’ve never been it is worth seeing, the kids love it. If you are on a budget and don’t want to commit to a full meal you can sit in the bar area and have cokes and an appetizer and then walk the kids though the restaurant. My kids get a kick out of sitting on the stools that look like animals with tails.
I used the rewards from Mypoints at T-Rex in Downtown Disney. We were there on it’s opening day and now it’s a tradition we eat there the first night we arrive at Disney. (I’ve been blessed to be able to take my daughter 3 years in a row)
Years ago I had a Rain Forest near me and we signed up for their Safari Club. The catch is you can’t do it online. They make you sign up there and wait for the card to be mailed to you. If you can find someone who lives in the area and is willing to go sign you up you can get the card. The card entitles you to be seated Priority and get a Chef’s appetizer free or 10 or 15% off your meal I think. (I still make ADR seating, but have always been seated within 5-10 mins at T-Rex)
My daughter and I usually split the free appetizer, a burger meal, and a dessert, which is more than enough food! I have never had to pay out of pocket (not even for the tip!), even last year when there were 5 of us!
Also, sign up for their emails. DISBoard people have said that the coupons are accepted at either place (RF @ TRex and vice versa) and that they accept coupons that have expired. I think I had a coupon last year and got to use it and the free appetizer, but I am not positive. Our server was VERY helpful!
Mypoints kicked me out for some unknown reason before I even cashed in anything! I rarely used it, I did the little things here and there. It seems I got kicked out after I discoved the printing of coupons, but I have no idea. I discovered this is not an uncommon phenomenon so I didn’t even bother to call. It really upset me because it makes it appear as though you did something sinister! So beware when using MyPoints, you may be kicked out for no reason, and they will make you feel like a criminal.
Just signed up!! I have just under a year to save/earn these points. Last time we were @ Disney (06) we did dinner @ Rainforest. Looking forward to doing breakfast there this time. FREE would be great :)
Does anyone know if the Rainforest Cafe in AK participates in the $1.99 kids meals on Wed nights? I saw that deal posted on a website listing places that kids can eat for free or cheap. We’re hoping to take our kids to Rainforest Cafe on our first trip to Disney this fall. They’ve been wanting to eat at one since they saw the Paul Blart movie.
I’m fortunate enough to live within 40 min. of Disney World. My daughter (14) and I have a tradition, on Mother’s Day after Church, we go to Downtown Disney, shop, play mini golf, and eat at either Rainforest or T-Rex. We always have a gift card from MyPoints. This year we were on an elimination diet and had added dairy back but not starches or sugars. When we explained this to the server she said “just a minute” and came back with a chef who planned a special meal just for us! Their service was terrific! Also, if you didn’t know, If you play minigolf, keep your reciept and you can play a second round of mini golf (any) for 1/2 price that day.
What a great Mother’s Day tradition! That is really awesome they were able to make you something that would fit with your diet, too!
did you know if you buy a kids eat free card in orlando i think it’s 9.99 the kids can eat free with each paying adult :) it could be a great savings
Hi we have a trip planned for Dec. I was wondering if you could tell me what you do to earn the my points. I went on and answered a survey and I never got to a spot where it credited me. It just continued and continued.
Thank you
