Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend however they choose!

How can this help you “Coupon to Disney?”

  • Take a look at your current dining out budget. How much did you spend last month going out to eat? That is money that could have gone into your fund instead! Try cutting your out to eat costs this month and adding the difference to your fund.
  • Set a weekly dining out budget, if you resist going out to eat, add that amount to your fund instead.
  • If you were seriously about to go out to eat (like had your coat on and was going out the door or pulled into the drive thru and then pulled back out), add the amount you would have spent to your fund.
  • Going out to eat and using a coupon or paying with a gift card? You could add that amount to your fund too. For example… if you had a $25 gift card to Cracker Barrel and you used it, you could take $25 cash out of your budget and add it to the fund. Or if you used a $10 coupon, you could take $10 cash out of the budget and add it to the fund.
  • Be sure to read my Couponing to Disney training series.

The rules:

  • You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
  • You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the cash.
  • The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
  • You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
  • Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
  • Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here.

My update:

My dad came last night for his belated birthday dinner. I treated him to Ruby Tuesday and spent $40 for us and Emily and had leftovers for Jason’s dinner as well.

How are you doing?

Did you know the average person walks 8-10 miles at Disney World? That is a ton of walking especially when you aren’t used to it. I decided to start the “Minniemize” series to inspire myself and others to get fit before their trip to Disney World. But you don’t have to be going to Disney to join this challenge. If you need to make a change in your life for the better, join us!

It doesn’t matter if you have 5 pounds or 50 pounds or 100 plus pounds to lose. Everyone is welcome to post on this thread. At the end of each month, I will pick one awesome reader who commented on at least 10 posts to win $50 via Paypal to add to their fund!

My progress:

Yesterday was not the best day either. But today is a new day. Bring it.

How are you doing?

Leave it up to me to find a Hidden Mickey in downed power lines here in Alabama.

This Hidden Mickey comes from my awesome little buddy…

My son just got back from vacation with my husband to my in-laws.  They went to the Kennedy Space center where my son got a space shuttle toy that he just loves.  Anyway he was playing with it today when he came running in the room, “Mommy!! Look the engines on my space shuttle look just like Mickey Mouse!”  He was so excited I just had to share it with you.

Did you know that there are over 800 Hidden Mickeys at Disney World? And to bring that magic home, I challenge you to find a Hidden Mickey in your everyday life. Be sure to take a picture and email it to me!

It’s bad. I drove over about 4 downed power lines (dead) and had to drive under a few that almost scrubbed the roof. The elementary school can’t open because you can’t get to it because of the power lines.

I saw houses that lost entire stories. I saw blown out windows, blown off roofs, blown out garages. It looked like a blizzard had hit with all the insulation. And then I saw a house that brought me to my knees. It was originally a split level house and the window blew the second story down on top of the first story. I’m just thankful no one was killed!

And it all hit at 6 am with almost no warning. And it could of been us…. It could of been us.

I lost a sheet or two of shingles. Nothing major (I don’t think). I have a roofer coming to look at the damage in the morning. I praise God that is all we lost.

The Birmingham News/Carol Robinson

Yesterday morning my town was hit by a tornado. We suffered loss of homes, businesses, vehicles, etc. Praise the Lord we did not suffer many losses of life. Unfortunately, it wasn’t over. Later in the day, more tornadoes touched the ground in Alabama killing at least 194 people. This line of storms spanning 7 states took a total of 298 lives and more than 163 tornadoes reportedly ransacked the south.

Southerners are in dire need of some of the most basic necessities and I am working with my local church to start an online donation drive to help the victims of these storms. If you have any items that you would love to mail to us, we will gladly take them. Here are a few things that we are in need of:

toothpaste
toothbrushes
shampoo
conditioner
soap
deodorant
dishwashing soap
laundry detergent
hand sanitizer
clothing in all sizes
shoes in all sizes
blankets
small toys for displaced children
ziploc bags
bandaids and other first aid products
femine products
baby formula
diapers
baby food
toilet paper
Kleenex
food
individual juices
pet food and treats
etc

We will gladly take anything that you are willing to send.

You can mail your donations to my church. We will ensure they get into the right hands. You have my personal guarantee that all donations will be distributed:

Disaster Relief

Moody, AL 35004

If you would like to send a monetary donation, please memo your check as Disaster Relief.

Other places to donate:

You can send a monetary donation to:

Salvation Army Disaster Relief

Atlanta, GA 30384-0339

Red Cross is taking text donations. Just text text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to donate $10.

My friend Christie who works with the Birmingham News is maintaining a master list of all organizations here.

And above all, we request your prayers. God bless!
