As we all know, there has been an abnormal amount of tornadoes here in the United States. It is very important that you stay informed and are alerted when tornadoes are in your immediate area. When my town was hit, we had no 3G service which meant all the fancy apps didn’t work. We also lost Weather Radio service.
So to keep my family save, I found the Weather Call Service. Weather Call is a phone/text service that will alert you ONLY when a warning is issued for your specific registered location.
When you use a weather radio, or hear tornado sirens, these are issued on a county wide basis, while the individual National Weather service is an outlined specific area and is NO LONGER based on the entire county!
Several media outlets offer the Weather Call service for a price of $9.95 per year, however, you can save an additional $3 when you sign up through WAAY-31.
If you have a Smart phone, you can purchase an enhanced service that will track your location and provide notifications for WHEREVER you are not just your registered location for just $11.95 a year.
I just signed up and I was able to add 3 landlines, 3 text numbers and 1 email address to my account.

We get this through our county for FREE! IT is awesome and has woke us up several times in the middle of night!!
Kristin,
Karen is referring to Code Red and only certain counties offer that. However, it has been known to have issues too.
I’ve been getting these for FREE through Weather.com (aka The Weather Channel). Register on their site then go to “My Profile” –> “My Weather Products.” You can sign up for the basic “Weather Alerts” (not Notify! or something else), provide the zip code you want alerts for, your cell phone number, and what type of alerts you want to receive (i.e. Daily Forecast, Severe Weather, Flooding, Winter Weather, Ice Conditions, Pollen, School Day Forecast, Beauty Forecast, Farmer’s Forecast, etc.) . You will have to go through the phone number verification process (they send you a code and you enter it online) and then you’re good to go. I worked with kids summer camps, so knowing a storm was coming was critical for me and this works like a charm for FREE.
I use this too. I don’t know why people would pay for a service that is free.
