Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend however they choose!

How can this help you “Coupon to Disney?”

  • Take a look at your current dining out budget. How much did you spend last month going out to eat? That is money that could have gone into your fund instead! Try cutting your out to eat costs this month and adding the difference to your fund.
  • Set a weekly dining out budget, if you resist going out to eat, add that amount to your fund instead.
  • If you were seriously about to go out to eat (like had your coat on and was going out the door or pulled into the drive thru and then pulled back out), add the amount you would have spent to your fund.
  • Going out to eat and using a coupon or paying with a gift card? You could add that amount to your fund too. For example… if you had a $25 gift card to Cracker Barrel and you used it, you could take $25 cash out of your budget and add it to the fund. Or if you used a $10 coupon, you could take $10 cash out of the budget and add it to the fund.
  • Be sure to read my Couponing to Disney training series.

The rules:

  • You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
  • You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the cash.
  • The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
  • You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
  • Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
  • Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here.

My update:

Did you know the average person walks 8-10 miles at Disney World? That is a ton of walking especially when you aren’t used to it. I decided to start the “Minniemize” series to inspire myself and others to get fit before their trip to Disney World. But you don’t have to be going to Disney to join this challenge. If you need to make a change in your life for the better, join us!

It doesn’t matter if you have 5 pounds or 50 pounds or 100 plus pounds to lose. Everyone is welcome to post on this thread. At the end of each month, I will pick one awesome reader who commented on at least 10 posts to win $50 via Paypal to add to their fund!

My progress:

I had a great day yesterday. I stayed within my points and spent 6 hours organizing, sorting and preparing coupons. It was a pretty good workout. LOL

How are you doing?

Charlotte’s daughter grabbed the brush to get ready, and screamed when she found a Mickey waiting for her!

Mickey joined one of Kimberly’s sons for lunch one day when he took a bite out of his bread!

Did you know that there are over 800 Hidden Mickeys at Disney World? And to bring that magic home, I challenge you to find a Hidden Mickey in your everyday life. Be sure to take a picture and email it to me!

I get a lot of questions and emails on Chip and Company asking me the best ways to tour the parks. I wanted to share with you my Magic Kingdom Touring Plan to help make your Disney World Vacation more enjoyable.

I know like most people you have an idea what you like to do when you head to the Disney Parks. Most people try to squeeze out a couple rides on the the Big Name Attractions before the park really gets busy. Some people just go with the flow of people around the park. Other people buy guide books that teach them how to avoid the lines, I am going to show you mine for FREE!

Today I am going to talk about the Magic Kingdom and the countless visits to the park I have a set way of going around the park. I am not a big fan of crowds, nor am I a fan of lines. Most times when I goto Disney it is during the slow season.Click here to read the best time of year to goto Disney World.

I have gone at Spring Break, July 4th and the other holidays when it has been super busy. The only time I have never gone was during Christmas as I know that is the absolute busiest time of the year to go! It doesn’t really matter when you go there are going to be people there and I think I have only experienced an empty park back in the early 90′s, most other times it is moderately busy.

Get there Early

I like to go to the park at rope drop or plan an early breakfast at Crystal Palace to grab some photos of the park before all the people come in.

Quick Tip – Be sure to make your Disney Advanced Dining Reservation far enough in advanced for the Crystal Palace, ask for seating before the park opens for some spectacular photos of yourself and your family on Main Street USA without people!

And were off

There are 4 parks at Disney World. Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. There are also 2 water parks: Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon and there is Downtown Disney (which is mainly shopping and eating, but it is home to Disney Quest, a huge indoor arcade.)

1. How many days you can take off of work?

2. Which parks do you want to visit? Do you want to go to all 4 parks? Do you want to spend time at Downtown Disney? Disney Quest? The Water Parks? What you want to do is going to determine how many days you need to plan for your vacation.

3. How much are the tickets per day? 1 day admission to Disney for an adult is $82. 2 Day is $162. 3 day is $224. 4 days is $232. Then it only goes up by $4 increments! A 10 day ticket is $262. Disney wants you to stay and play longer, so they make it more affordable.

4. How many days does it take to see it all? To really see a good amount of what each park has, you need a minimum of one day per park. So that’s at least 4 days.

If you are really interested in a certain park, you will probably want at least 2 days for that park. Plus I recommend an additional day for you to go back and ride all your favorite rides and see your favorite sites again before you depart.

But then you’ve also got to factor in if you want to do 1 or more of the Water Parks. You want at least a half day, if not a whole day for them.

So we are up to what, 8 days if you want to do both water parks? See how frustrating this can be? I vote that we spend at least a month at Disney. Then, maybe, just maybe, we can see everything we want to see.

5. My opinion. I would go with at least 6. That gives you at least 2 days to cover either Magic Kingdom or Epcot depending on your interest and an additional day to revisit your favorite attractions/park or visit a water park.

How many days do you feel you need to do everything on your must do list?

Disney World is the Most Magical Place On Earth. Be sure to learn how to make the most of your trip by following the Disney World Training series.

This awesome tip comes from my reader Kim…

I am a stay at home mom who loves couponing and “bargain shopping in all forms” and one day after months of grieving after my mother passed away I decided I needed something to focus on, and decided a little side project of mine with my kids would be to recycle and to get the deposit money, and every cent we get in return I would save and put towards the goal, another family trip to Disneyland.

Oregon is a deposit state. When you buy sodas, water bottles, glass bottles, etc., you have to pay 5 cents per item and in return you recycle them back to get your “deposit”. The items you can recycle will have a stamp on them, telling you if they can be recycled.

By the Grace of God, I got a spark of joy in my heart and set out to start to save. This was last July 2010. I never set out on a goal amount but figured it would all add up to at least use for spending money with our trip date being all the way in December of 2011.

So really it is quite simple. All items are to be kept whole and NOT crushed:

I got 2 Rubbermaid trash cans and line them with construction/heavy trash bags
1 for plastics
1 for cans
then I have 1 tub I put glass in that has a lid (kinda like what you store holiday decorations)
and keep them in my garage.

When the trash cans are full I load the sacks in my car and deposit them into machines that in turn give me a counted receipt I turn into for cash in the refund center I recycle them back to.

Word spread fast in my group of friends and family, and they then to started saving their items for us because they knew it was for our Disney fund. .and how something so little, and something people consider trash meant so much to me and my family to help with our goal.

I average a trip to recycle about once a month..and each trip make about $20.00..not too bad if you think about how you literally were throwing it away each month. And how it helps our environment out so much as well…

Up to date I have made about $300 plus dollars which is paying for our hotel by Disneyland for 5 nights. (OFF SEASON) rates came to $340.00 at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel

My kids and I always pick up a can, bottle or whatever and toss in our bins when we get home as well if we are out and about. It all adds up…

Be sure to check out all the ways to add to your fund!
