Giveaway: Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers

in expired deal,Giveaways

Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers is a really awesome book for those of you planning to visit Disney World and have small children. This book is geared towards parents with children between 2-5 years old.

The book was written by a mom and Disney veteran who regularly visits Walt Disney World with her young family, this Walt Disney World travel guide is packed with child-focused information, tips, and insights from a parent’s perspective. Its focus on the unique needs of preschoolers and their parents sets Beyond the Attractions apart from other guides.

Author Lisa M. Battista includes all the up-to-date details on toddler- and preschooler-friendly attractions, recreation, lodging, and dining in Beyond the Attractions, but goes well beyond the shows, rides, resorts, and food to consider the logistical challenges that are part of traveling with small kids. Learn about family-friendly services at Walt Disney World such as stroller rentals, Baby Care Centers, and child-care options that will enhance your visit and the memories of your Walt Disney World vacation.

You can check out more information here.

I read the book last weekend and I learned stuff I did not know about Disney, and that’s really saying something! I also have a toddler and I found the book to be extremely informative for both parents making their first trip with a toddler as well as for parents making a return trip. I really enjoyed it!

And one of my readers are going to win a copy of the book too! Here’s how to enter:

I would love the hidden activities part!! We have yet to go to Walt Disney World as a family, and when we plan on going, our youngest will be 4. :)

I would love the packing for preschoolers part. I will have two preschoolers next time we go and I don’t want to carry around extra luggage we don’t need or spend money on things we forgot!

The hidden activities part! I used to work for Disney and I’m finding that Disney fans know more than I do. I’ve got 2 year old twins and I really need that info. :D

I think the Hidden activities when your kids need a break would be very helpful. We are planning a trip for next year and my daughter will be almost 2 years old, so she may not be able to handle a lot and it would good to know from an experienced mom.

I think tips for what to do while waiting in line! We honestly skip some rides because my toddlers get so bored for 45 mins! Great ideas.

We need to avoid anything scary. But I think that the hidden attractions are really what we need – especially for Epcot.

My father was recently diagnosed with cancer and it’s always been our plan to take the kids to Disney World in 2-3 years, but now we will be moving that closer. I would love to know specific areas to take a 2 1/2 year old when they need some down time or activities that will work for my kids ages 2-5. Plus the dining package, is it worth buying with 2 young kids and never knowing if they are going to eat that meal or not?

“The single most important thing you can do to have a successful Walt Disney World trip with preschoolers is to have a plan and then be willing to deviate from it. When the kids get hot, tired, or over-stimulated, slow down the pace of your touring, have a snack, or take a break in your hotel room. ”

Please tattoo this on your arm if you have young children. I don’t care how long you saved or how much you spent, when the kid is done, the kid is done.

I am planning my families first trip to Disney! We have a 3 year old and I think the most helpful part of the book would be the must do list. We will be spending 4 days at the park and we want this trip to be about making memories with her.

I have a 5yo and 2 yo and another on the way – the packing list would be most helpful to me. Just got back a few weeks ago from WDW and I definitely overpacked, but didn’t want to risk being without something someone needed!

I am very interested in what the book has to say about the hidden activities. We’re going in Oct. and are taking our 8 yr old, 4 yr (who will turn 5 while we are there) and 2 yr olds. Would love to win this!

The part that would benefit my family the most would be the ideas for keeping the kids entertained while we are standing in line. The hidden activities would be great, too! My 4 year old remembers going to Disneyland last year, and now that we are on the other side of the country, we want to take our kids to WDW!

I absolutely need this book! I have FOUR in this category! I have twin 3 year olds and twin 5 year olds, so this would be perfect for my family, especially since my husband and I have neither one been to Disney before so we have NO idea what to expect! We would really love to go this fall. I think the map of kid friendly rides alone makes the book worth purchasing!!!

Right now we are planning on going to Disney right after Christmas on the 26th. This is the first time we will be going to Disney as a whole family, and the first time our family has gone. We will be heading to Disney with 7 kids all under the age of 5, and one who is 7 years old (There is a total of 4 families). The best thing about this book would be keeping all of the kids entertained for the 5 days at Disney. Also we’ve never been to Disney and want to make the most of every minute. I want to make sure we have every day planned.

BTW Your site is wonderful. I have been able to save money as well as get wonderful ideas for our trip. THANK YOU!

I have only been to Disney one time (2 years ago) and we are planning our next trip for next year. I can’t wait to go back!! Since that one and only trip, I have talked about going back since we got home. The book sounds great for me. I would like to learn about stroller rentals, the baby care centers, and child-care options. Since my daughter is a bit shy, I would also like to see what attractions may scare small kids.

Thanks!

I think the dining and recreation part of the book would be the most helpful for us. Its so important to find a place where you feel comfortable with a small child when you eat. Its no fun for them if its a stuffy atmosphere and it can throw the whole day off if you are stressed over it.

So I would really like to know more about the FAMILY activites that would suit everyone, on down time the hidden activites would also be a GOD send. Activities such as while in line are great. Right now since we don’t have access to cell phone apps, knowing where there are kid sized, flush potties are key to our sanity right now. The sensor potties scare some kids. I’ve tried the post-it note and paper over the sensor trick (sigh!) with almost no luck. Our child would rather wait until we find a non sensor one, which is tough to do in a large place.

My daughter will be almost 2 years old when we go this December. I think it would be really helpful to know what areas are available to let her run out some energy. I’ve been looking for any sort of information that will help make this trip fun for our whole family – my parents, my husband, my baby girl and myself.

We would have loved this book a few months ago. We went in April and are planning to go again next year. Ideas about line waiting and rides good for toddlers would be great. We were lucky enough to find the Pooh ride right when our son needed some down time. Wish more rides had interactive lines like that one. Hoping your books points out some good places to go to avoid a meltdown! Thanks!

This sounds like a fantastic book. I need the list of hidden activities for when your kids need a break. My son tires out easily, so ways that he can rest and chill out (possibly sneak in a nap) would be great!

I would love this guidebook for the ideas on attractions the whole family can enjoy together as well as the ideas for what may scare younger children. We have a 4 year old and a 7 year old, so juggling the two can get difficult when they have different interests (and scare-levels!!) We’re visiting in October this year – can’t wait!!!

I grew up in Orlando and have been to Disney tons of times, but next fall will be our first trip to Disney as a family with kids. (Our girls will be 1 and 3 then). I would love to read about the attractions that are the best for little guys since we won’t be able to do everything and want to make the most of our time!

I’m finding the whole Disney vacation planning extremely overwhelming. The trip was a gift from the in laws so there are 13 of us going and i have the youngest at 2 y/o. Other Disney books are great, but this seems to focus on the EXACT age I need. I’d love to know what to pack, so I’m not hauling everything but the kitchen sink and I want to know what rides are the “must see’s.” It’s almost like I need to condense and make a Top 3 Disney trip out of the whole Disney vacation to coincide with naps and stuff! Great book idea!

I consider myself a Diseny expert. My first trip was when I was 2 years old. I went to Disney World every year with my family from the age of 4 until I was 22. When I started planning for my wedding, I convinced my husband that Disney World would be perfect for our honeymoon. And I was right! We are now DVC owners and are going on our third trip together this summer with my 2 year old step son. This will be my first trip taking a child so I am super excited, but I want to make sure I know all the ins and outs of how to do a trip with a toddler. This book sounds like the perfect fit! Thanks for passing on this information.

Our weekend trip was the best we ever had because we didn’t expect as much. She surprised us by doing more than we expected. I think this is a GREAT IDEA. I’ve been to Walt Disney World hundreds of times. Last January I took my son (2 years old) and discovered it was quite different from being a kid there to TAKING a little one there. We spent 6 days at the parks and by the 6th day my son was a crying fool. All he wanted to do was play with the bees at the Winnie the Pooh ride, and instead of me telling the people in line behind us to go ahead, I made my son move up in line….he cried bloody murder about the stinking bees for the next 3 hours. I would love some tips for out next trip this coming January so I am better equipped for his age things.

I learned a lot by ‘trial and error’ on our first trip as our youngest was almost 2. (For example, I didn’t bring a blanket or anything for the packnplay!) It will be great to be better prepared and tailor the trip more to his needs on our next trip- which couldn’t be soon enough if it was tomorrow!

BUT, I would LOVE to read all about taking kids there. Most of our trips have been without kids, so bringing them with us is still pretty new. Ever time we go we learn something new and would be nice to read up on things before we go.

So, realllllllllly hope I win THIS one!!!!!!!! :D
