Getting Started Couponing: What is a price adjustment?

in Getting Started Couponing

A price adjustment happens when you purchase an item and then discover it has gone on sale within a week or two of your purchase date. Companies that offer a price adjustment then offer you the difference via either a cash refund or a store credit. Most stores only require you to bring in your receipt. Be sure to ask if your favorite stores participate.

Here are a few stores policies on price adjustment:

Target
If Target advertises a lower price either the same week or the week following your purchase, bring in your original sales receipt to Guest Services for an adjustment.

Kohl’s
Within two weeks (14 days) of the purchase date, the price of the item was further reduced from the final price you paid.

Disney Store
Sale price adjustments will be honored on items that are reduced in price, within 7 days from the shipped date.

If you are new to Couponing, you might want to take a moment to read more in my Getting Started Couponing series. It will teach you how to coupon like I do!

We ran into a problem with the Disney Store Online. I ordered $110 worth of stuff that had already been marked down online and they were marked down again- another $25 but it was 9 days later. I was not having a Magical Day after that conversation. I ended up returning the items to the Disney Store Outlet and they let me repurchase said items at the reduced price :-)

Victoria’s Secret also offers this same policy, as well as Bath and Body Works – they will adjust the price within 3 weeks of purchase!

I love Staples policy, if you find a lower price in their ad OR anyone else’s ad in 14 days they give you the difference!

Best Buy also matches their own OR anyone else’s ad:
14 days for computers, monitors, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, iPads, tablets and radar detectors.
30 days for all other products.
They used to give the difference + 10% but I don’t see the 10% line in their policy any more.

What about Disney World? I booked at $85 a night and now it’s $69 a night. I’m a resident so I can cancel within 5 days or so. I’ve looked at Pop where we’re staying and it looks like it would give me rooms. I should just call, huh? But I thought I’d ask you!

Just an FYI – my experience is that Walmart won’t do this so I often just return the item there and repurchase it or purchase it elsewhere.
