Saving money….. now there’s a topic we all love. Most of you are reading my blog because you want to save more money. We save at the grocery store, we save at the drug store, but there are lots of ways we could be saving and stretching our dollar and Couponing to Disney……
Check out this great tip that Alicia sent in…

Have you heard of Bountiful Baskets? http://www.bountifulbaskets.org/ It’s only available in 16 states at the moment, but it’s produce co-op. I thought that your readers may be interested. $16.50 a week to get in, the more that participate the more produce you get for your $$. You don’t know exactly what you’ll get and it varies every week. This was my first week, but the first thing I thought when I left was to figure up the savings and then I thought that fellow couponers may be interested. I priced things at Publix today and based on today’s prices, the same produce would’ve cost me $30 and through the co-op I paid just $16.50 (+ $3 for my first basket fee). I got: 3.5# oranges, 3 kiwi, 2# of Bartlett pears, 2# red plums, 1.25# bananas, 1 bunch broccoli, 2 bunches of green leaf lettuce, 1 pineapple and 8# 11 oz of sweet potatoes. There was a head of cabbage included as well, but somehow I missed mine. I hear last week it was a lot of tomatoes and squash with their baskets, so it really varies. They have organic baskets for $25 as well – although I didn’t see anyone with those today.
Our selection today was with 49 participants, the volunteers helping today told me that with 80+ participants they usually get DOUBLE what we got today, so you could get $60+ of produce for just $16.50 a week! Attached is a photo of my goodies from today.
