I just booked our first family WDW trip a few days ago. Because of all you do on here, I was completely (well, as completely as one can be planning for 6 people) prepared. I have been following your blog for some time now and, I must say, you have really informed me! Thank you SO much for that! We are staying at the new Art of Animation resort for 5 nights/6 days. I opted to get the dining plan, as they have a deal on it right now. Within minutes of booking the package, I was calling to make our dining reservations, as it is less than 160 days away. First, I made the reservation for the Cinderella’s Royal Table (our 2 girls will be so surprised!). Then, I made reservations for Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, Rainforest Cafe, and Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. Then, I made the reservation for BBB. I actually scheduled it for right before the Royal Table meal (with a short time buffer between to make sure we get there a little early)! Oh, the girls are going to really enjoy it! Being made-over by the FGM and then to go straight to dine with Cinderella herself! I tried to schedule my boys for the Pirate League Makeover, but unfortunately, they are completely booked that day. But, I considered all of the other options for the boys, and we came up with an alternative. I had already made reservations following the WDW stay,on the coast, and so, with a discounted rate, we will be going to let the boys feed giraffes (my boys LOVE giraffes and have actually begged me to get them one, kinda like girls will ask for a pony lol). I have figured out how to make this expensive vacation affordable (A LOT thanks to you!) and will be utilizing my swag bucks and survey sites to make it even more frugal! And because I have been helped so much by your great deal-hunting skills, I have stocked up on things that I knew I could use once we made it official.
I will be using your Tinker Bell gift idea while there, as well. And the greatest part of the entire thing, the kids have NO idea what we’re planning! We are going to have all of the things to occupy them on the ride there wrapped up and in each of their seats the morning we are leaving. Then, after breakfast, we are going to take them out to the van (with it already packed and loaded) and open it and have them figure it all out. The last thing we will have them open will be their own, personal Disney maps. Then, we are going to tell them to hop in because we are leaving right now! I can’t wait for their reactions. Our 2 boys are on the autism spectrum, so I hope they won’t freak out over the big change in routine, but I think for all of the kids (and us), knowing we’re going in advance might make it too difficult to understand that it is on a certain date and not right this instance.
Sorry this was so long. I just wanted to let you know that I GREATLY appreciate you and your site. I have gotten so many great ideas from your blog and it has helped me to create a magical trip that they won’t soon forget. THANK YOU!!!!

You might want to see if you can get the boys into Pirates League before your Akershus reservation. We had the girls made up at PL (as wenches) right before going to Akershus and honestly, the princesses made a bigger deal over them than they did aver all the little BBB princesses in the room. We got some great photos of all of them together.

That sounds like a great idea, but unfortunately, we won’t be going to MK the day we go to Akershus. I will have to remember that for our next trip. ; ) Gives me an excuse to make the hubby let me plan another trip for next year. lol Thanks for that piece of advice. I think that next time (hopefully next year : )) I will plan it so that all of the kids can get done up at PL before going to a character meal. I was hoping I could get the boys in while the girls were being done up, but poo. I should have planned sooner. So, next time I will have to figure out when and where I can get reservations close together before scheduling them.

Ha…love the excuse to plan another trip! ;) Always happy to be of assistance. Let me know any time you need another excuse…I personally have thousands of them…lol.

I have been a professional makeup artist for 20 years. When BBB opened I knew what I wanted to do when my husband retired and we moved to FL(or my way to say it,Disney) I was going to be a Fairy God Mother in Training. To me the best song in the world is the laughter of a child :0) and when you see these little girls come out of BBB they just light up the Magical World of Disney. They are actually adding a BBB to the newest Disney Cruiseline Fantasy that will change into Priate shop for Pirate Night.
I go to Disney 3 times a year and I’m moving down from Vermont in 3 years. Yes I’m counting. The one thing I always do on the first day of vacation is go to BBB and get my Pixie Dust. Then the day we leave I need to go back and get more Pixie Dust so I can make it home and then til my next trip.
I hope someday to be the Fairy God Mother in Training that might do your little girls wonderful Magical moment!!! And don’t forget it’s open to any age!!!

We just returned from DisneyWorld last week and it was a blast! We called for BBB reservations about 6 weeks before we left, and were only able to get into the Downtown Disney location, which was not ideal. The told us we could call back the week leading up to our appt to check for cancellations, and we were lucky enough to get an 8am appt at the Magic Kingdom- much, much better!
The experience was SO MUCH FUN for my 4.5 year old! (and yes, I cried watching her!) The entire thing was truly magical… and the ladies working there made her feel so special! We brought our own Cinderella gown and shoes ($18.99 at Target- thank you very much!) and saved a ton of money that way.
One thing to note- we were unable to make reservations for our younger daughter (2 years old) as they do not BBB anyone younger than 3. She was heartbroken as she watched her sister get “made up” and kept pointing to all the empty chairs (there sure were a lot for having such a difficult time making a reservation!) and saying “Empty chair for Lucy?” Luckily, an AWESOME castmember who helped us over the phone when we were making reservations mentioned the Barbershop on Main Street. It’s tucked away and really small, but for under $10, they added “prettied” up little sister, too- with colorful gel and lots of glitter! She felt so special- and what an inexpensive little surprise!

We have taken our daughter to Bibbidi Bobiddi Boutique 3 times and once to Pirates League. Nothing compared with the first time. She had the best Fairy Godmother in training ever! We have never had one as good since then. The last time we took her, she had almost outgrown the princess thing and we decided to also take her to Pirates League. Bibbidi Bobiddi was great, but after the makeover you get photos taken and that’s it. Pirates League actually had a lot more to it. First they have to get their pirate name (her’s was Liz Swordcutter). The wench doing the makeover had our daughter take a secret pirate oath and throughout the makeover talked with her about the principles of being a pirate. Then they take them into another room where they get photos taken, get a pirate coin and map with a secret code on it that…as I recall can be broken using the coin. It was really a lot of fun. Our only complaint was the CM misled us on the price and we were charged a lot more than we were told. When we got home, the Mouse agreed with us and sent a Disney gift card.

I put this on Facebook, but I thought I’d put it here too.
Both my son (8 at the time) and my daughter (just turned 3 then) did the Pirate League. We all LOVED it!! The pirates who did their makeovers were awesome. I made my daughter a black pink tutu and a rhinestone skull shirt, and I bought my son a shirt from personalizationmall.com that had a skull and crossbones on front and “Cap’n [his name]” on the back. My daughter loved being a pirate princess! I highly recommend it for both genders!
I will say that it was really hard to get the makeup off my son. (He had the full skeleton face.) I even brought remover from home that was supposed to work well. He has heavy eyeliner in all his pictures from the next morning! lol

We did the BBB in May of 2010 for our daughter’s first trip to WDW. They were 9 & 7 at the time. They both absolutely loved the whole experience! They were able to transform both girls at the same time with the chairs side-by-side. We didn’t purchase anything other than the pretty basic package of hair, make-up and nails but were pleasantly surprised to learn that we could go across the way and there were PhotoPass photographers in a “studio” to take photos of the new princesses. I was able to get all of those photos and add effects as well. The experience was expensive but we used our Disney Visa Rewards to pay for it and the memories are priceless. Here is the kicker…my girls had bickered a lot during our trip but after they were done at BBB they really acted like princesses for the rest of the day…all the way until 1:30am when we returned to our resort!

My husband and 4 year old son did the pirates league when we were there February 2010. They both had a great time and my son was so very excited. We brought a pirates costume from home which made the experience that much more fun for him! He also was so proud at the Pirates Parade that he got to be in later that day (all the pirates of the day march around the Pirates of the Caribbean area of the park). The only downside was he was a pirate for most of our pictures at Magic Kingdom (which was fun – and I didn’t get the Mickey Ears shot of him and the castle I wanted) and it did take up several hours of our time at the park. Luckily we were there in February so we got through most of what we wanted to do anyway! I’d definitely recommend Pirates League!

I took my daughter to BBB for her 5th birthday (right before we had breakfast at CRT) Well, I had been trying to decide if I wanted to buy the big package or go for a smaller one. I looked at the prices and decided that we would get a smaller package and bring our Rapunzel dress from home. When we checked in the Fairy God Mother in Training at the front desk saw my bag and asked if E needed to get changed. There was no snippy looks or anything, they completely understood! As soon as she was changed they put her in her chair and began her transformation. She was a little scared at first, because she wasn’t sure what was going on, but, by the end of it, she was having a blast! She didn’t want her eyes painted (she doesn’t like anything on her face) but they were able to magically put her sparkle on her cheek (I still don’t know how they snuck that one) and when she saw the finished product she loved it! Her hair stayed in her bun for 5 days, when I finally said okay we need to wash your hair! The tiara in her hair lasted 3 days, but, I pulled it out (thinking I was going to wash her hair then) As an extra surprise while I was sitting there a Fairy God Mother in Training sprinkled me with Fairy Dust and put a sparkly on my cheek too! (I had NO warning, and it was hilarious… I was told I looked like I ran into Tinkerbell)

We did the bibbidi bobbidi boutique for my daughters first trip to Disney. It was expensive, but we saved up for it and it was soooo well worth it. She had such a blast and she was so cute. It made for the most amazing memories for us as a family and for her for her first time to Disney. We did ours in the park. I totally suggest it as a one time thing, you won’t be disappointed and neither will your little ones.

My girls did Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique a few years ago when the girls were 5 and 6 and they LOVED EVERY MINUTE. I loved watching my girls get made over and 4 years later they still talk about it.

My daughter and I were at Disney World in March of this year. We had made reservations a few months in advance and could not get the one at the park we had to go the one downtown Disney. I was disappointed because I wanted her to have her make over before she had the Cinderella lunch at the castle but you have to plan way way in advance to coordinate something like that. In the end the experience was just as wonderful at Downtown Disney. My daughter was asked to sit up in the display window while she had her make over done. She was made up so pretty and she felt like a total princess. I especially loved the part where the hair dresser got out her wand of sparkles for her hair and said now I am going to say the magic saying and when I do you have to make a wish. Bibbity Bobbity Boo. What a great experience to spoil your little ones with. She will remember it forever and she has pictures to remind her if she forgets as she gets older.

We had the same experience at Downtown Disney 2 years ago. 2 weeks ago in the castle, both girls got a make-over and their trainees (2 different gals) never said a word to them. I missed that special magic with the fairy dust!

We opted to do the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in February with our daughter (she was 4) as we thought it was would be fun. She LOVED it! It was a very fun experience for all of us, but she felt like a true princess! She loves to show the pictures out whenever we have company and shows everyone. It is expensive, but we had used money we’d saved in other ways to be able to budget for it. It was well worth it to us.
