Chick-fil-A introduced grilled chicken nuggets to their menu today. Your children now have a choice between grilled nuggets, regular nuggets or a chicken strip, french fries or a Buddy Fruit Applesauce squeeze, and milk, soda, sweet tea or lemonade.
I’m excited to give these a try. Chick-fil-A is our favorite fast food restaurant.
Also have you noticed that McDonald’s is also trying to make their kid’s meals healthier and forcing you to pay higher prices and get fruit? All of our kids meals went up with this new option. The hamburger happy meal is $3.29 and the cheeseburger happy meal is $3.99! If she does get a happy meal (because of those darn Chipwrecked toys), I put a piece of cheese on it myself. That is an insane price for cheese.

Haha! That cracks me up, packing your own cheese. But I have packed my own fruit many times to Chick Fil A to save money on a side. I have also brought my own bread to Panera – I share a bowl of soup with my 3-year-old, and she likes to have lots of bread to dip.
at McDonald’s we have to pay more for the milk in the Happy Meal rather than getting the soda! So we pay more for the milk and more for the apples! It is getting crazy – but I’m so happy to see the grilled chicken at Chick-fil-A!
It’s good to see that healthier options are being offered. Maybe other restaurants will follow suit. I myself am vegetarian and don’t eat much fast food, but I do hope this will help most people on the standard American diet.
Are these also on the adult menu, or am I going to have to buy 2 kids meal just to get grilled instead of fried? We love Chick-fil-a, and we only eat it maybe once a month. But still want to eat healthier when out running around.
My Chick-fil-a always has the option of grilled strips. You just have to ask. They have had this for years.
Yay! We have maybe one location within many, many miles of us so we don’t get to go ever. However, when we travel it is the first place my husband tracks down ;) We are going to Disney during the leap year week (just by chance). I’m excited to know the kids will have a healthier option if we eat out of the park. We don’t drink dairy or soda so water or juice is usually our choice of beverage. If our kids were able to drink milk I think I would be terribly annoyed that I had to pay extra vs soda. Although I do know they basically get the soda for free :/ Sadly I could just eat their fries and honey mustard sauce all day. I’m sure I’m allergic to the sauce though, LOL! Finding most of it has milk.
Are the regular fruit cups going away? I hate it if they are- that’s the best fruit in a kid’s meal! Don’t tell me we are all doomed to a lifetime of “apple fries!” Even Wendy’s ditched their mandarin oranges! Poor kids are never going to know that apples have skin… ;)
I have never been to a McDonald’s that charges more for apples vs. fries. Is that new? It always makes me so mad when we go to Burger King and I have to pay .49 extra to get apples instead of fries in a happy meal. Especially when the apples and small fries are the same price on the regular menu! And you should be able to sub apples instead of fries in an adult value meal, too.
