There is only one New Orleans Square, and that is at Disneyland- so unless you’ve been there you may not have even heard about it before! It wasn’t part of Disneyland when it first opened, but it was the first land to open after that. It is set in Louisiana back in the 1800’s and more like a street alley than a square which curves around into shops and restaurants. It seem small, but is the home to two major attractions: Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion. The Pirate crew comes out and performs music on the street throughout the day, Jack Sparrow comes through for greetings and so does Jack Skellington and Sally from “Nightmare Before Christmas”.
Current attractions:
- Disneyland railroad stop
- Haunted Mansion
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- viewing area for Fantasmic!
Restaurants
- Blue Bayou Restaurant (table-service, in the Pirates ride)
- Club 33 (Private members-only club, look for 33 Royal Street)
- Cafe Orleans (table-service)
- French Market Restaurant (cafeteria-style)
- Mint Julep Bar (non-alcoholic, Mickey-shaped beignets)
- Royal Street Veranda (counter-service)
Shops
- Cristal d’Orleans
- Le Bat en Rouge
- L’Ornement Magique
- Mlle. Antoinette’s Parfumerie
- Pieces of Eight
- Port Royal
- Royal Street Sweets
Former attractions
- Princess Tiana’s Mardi Gras Celebration
- Jewel of Orleans
- Disneyland Dream Suite – This one isn’t really former (it was used in the Year of a Million Dreams promo is 2008) so much as very rarely in use and inaccessible to the general public.

Mmm… I love New Orleans Square. I wish DW had an equivalent, because the gumbo and jambalaya (sp?) they serve is so awesome.

also forgot to mention that right across from new orleans is the river where fantasmic is. I had a perfect spot to watch…a really nice guy showed me and my son where to stand that most people were not aware of…he was a local! anyway LOVED fantasmic! so so good…and then the fireworks went off shortly after and you could see them very well from that same location. No trudging down to the castle in the crowd!

I love Disneyland and love love love New Orleans Square. It is my favorite part of Disneyland or World. The little alley ways are so cute and fun. We went this past October and saw the Haunted Mansion all decorated like The Nightmare Before Christmas. It was soooo cool! And JAck Skellington was out front hanging around. He has been my favorite character to meet.

My daughter and I will be there tomorrow an lunch at Cafe Orleans is on our “must do” list. The food is GREAT and they have salmon on the kids menu which is a big plus for her…she loves fish, I hate it so she gets it every time we go to Disneyland (every few weeks).
