I am a big Disney jewelry fan. While it’s a financial fact that I can’t afford most of it without clipping some coupons and saving up, that certainly doesn’t stop me from looking. I collect silver Disney charms and the occasional silver necklace. But I’m always on the lookout for inexpensive Disney jewelry I can pick up on my a vacation to remind me of Disney when I get back home. Mouze Kateerz staff writer Maleah Moskoff, who has her own gormet tea website at www.chachatea.net, told me about a place in Epcot where she picked up some fabulous jewelry at low prices. She sent some beautiful photos that made me certain I would have to stop by see on my next trip.
Now before you head to the Bead Outpost, you can stop by the Mexican Pavilion for a meal at the San Angel Inn. Here are menu items, prices, and ADR (Advanced Dining Reservation) info.
All the Information You Need to Enjoy a Meal at Epcot’s San Angel Inn.
Maleah said, “You know that spot at Epcot’s World Showcase that you always walk by and wish there was another country? That space filled with African themed and now Indian themed merchandise? Well, I stopped and looked on my last trip. Something caught me eye…these colorful beads. The story is actually pretty cool. It’s a stand called The Bead Outpost.”
Disney collects out of date guide maps, outdated park information and colorful papers. They send them off to Uganda, Africa. There, they are artistically rolled into beads for bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Transformed into beads, the old papers are now waterproof and quite durable, and they are sent back to Walt Disney World where they are purchased in pre-strung sets or individually as guests create their own colorful designs.
Maleah noted, “One of the things I liked best was that when you stop by the kiosk, you can pick your own beads and make your own piece of art! If you look closely you will see words on some the beads. The beads are durable and water-resistant, so they’ll last for a long time. If you’re looking for a unique souvenir, check out The Bead Outpost in the space between China and Germany.”
What a great concept- old papers that would have been thrown into landfills are now Disney-magically transformed into amazing pieces of jewelry at prices that won’t break the bank. Thanks to Maleah from www.chachatea.net for telling me about the jewelry, and for her beautiful photos, or I just might have missed it. There is no huge sign or large building, just the small kiosk.
So check out the Bead Post in Epcot. Reasonably priced jewelry, individualized souvenirs, recycling and saving our environment; that’s a concept I can appreciate and embrace, not to mention the affordable price.
