When you are growing your stockpile, don’t just focus on stocking up on the items that happen to be really cheap or free with coupons. Also stock up on items that your family uses on a regular basis.
I suggest you make a list of items that you purchase on a regular basis and how often you need to purchase that item (that will help you figure out how many you need to have for a 3 month supply). If your family always uses ketchup, grape juice and canned green beans, add that to the list. Once you have a list, focus on building a 3 month stockpile of these items. Whenever it goes on sale, purchase enough to last your family for 3 months. This will help free up other areas of your budget.
