Guests on a Disney Dining Plan are given snack & meal credits accordingly to their plan selection. Then, guests are free to redeem the credits as they please. However, to get the most value out of your snack credits, guests will want to find snacks costing at least $5.00. Redeeming snack credits for items under $5.00 are not worth the cost of what you paid for a dining plan. Therefore, do not waste your snack credits on these 5 snacks at Disney World. Plus, learn what to do instead!
1. Popcorn Refills
Popcorn is a great snack to share while exploring Disney World. While Popcorn or Popcorn with a souvenir bucket are not eligible for snack credit redemptions, popcorn refills are. When guests purchase a souvenir bucket during their vacation, they are entitled to a discount popcorn refill price of $2.
Instead, pay out of pocket for a popcorn refill and save your snack credit.
2. Whole Fruit
Guests can find fruit stands at all 4 Disney Parks, selling a variety of whole fruits and more snacks and drinks. Cost is $2.29 for fruits such as an apple, orange or banana. While this price is much higher than your grocery store price for fruit, it is bad usage of a snack credit.
Instead, get a fruit & cheese combo priced over $5.
3. Bottled Water
Guests will find bottled water for sale at a variety of Quick Service restaurants. Cost for bottled water is $3.50 each. This price is both a bad deal for paying out of pocket and using a snack credit.
Instead, bring your own reusable filtered water bottle, or simply ask a Quick Service for a free ice water.
4. Chips
A quick on-the-go snack and popular lunch side is a bag of chips. Prices range from $2.99-$3.25 per bag of chips throughout Disney World.
Instead, grab a Mickey Pretzel or Churro both priced over $5 each.
5. Mickey Mouse Kid’s Cone
The Mickey Mouse Kid’s cone found at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Magic Kingdom is fun for kids. Coming with 1 scoop of ice cream & chocolate ears, however at just $3.49 this is a bad value for a snack credit.
Instead, Consider using a snack credit on The Plaza Ice Cream Sundae to split (priced at $5.99) it consists of your choice of 2 scoops of ice cream, served in a freshly made waffle bowl and topped with hot fudge, whipped cream & a cherry.
