Disney is constantly upgrading and improving. Guests visiting Walt Disney World in the Summer of 2017 will find the following changes, listed below, have occurred.
1. Wishes Nighttime Fireworks Show Replaced by Happily Ever After
Guests traveling in the summer of 2017 will miss the Wishes fireworks show. Happily Ever After replaced Wishes on May 12, 2017. Wishes has a long time run as the nighttime spectacular at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, 14 years to be exact.
2. Time Change For Festival Of Fantasy Parade Summer 2017
Disney’s Festival of Fantasy parade has been known as the “3 o’clock parade”. However, starting on August 20, 2017 Festival of Fantasy Parade will begin at 2:00pm.
This change will be daily for an unnamed time frame. From August 20 on, guests may enjoy the parade at 2:00pm instead of 3:00pm.
3. The Incredibles Super Dance Party has ended
The Incredibles Super Dance Party has been rocking the Rockettower Plaza Stage at Tomorrowland in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. However, guests visiting in the Summer of 2017 will not see it. The Incredibles Super Dance Party ended on April 30, 2017.
4. Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland Introduces “iCan” Robot
Tomorrowland is located at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. It is home to many popular rides including Space Mountain. A new feature is coming to Tomorrowland to greet and entertain guests.
Look for “iCan”, the name of a new robot of Tomorrowland. Next time you are at Magic Kingdom be sure to venture through Tomorrowland to catch a glimpse of its latest creation.
5. Splash Mountain Closes Summer 2017 For Refurbishments At Disney World
One of the mountains will close for refurbishment towards end of summer 2017 at Walt Disney World. Splash mountain is a classic ride for guests. It will be closing for refurbishment from August 28 through November 16. With an expected re-opening of November 17, 2017.
It is unknown the exact refurbishments planned for Splash Mountain, but this ride will certainly be missed for the near 3 months of its closure.
6. Moana Gets A New Meet & Greet Spot
Moana will be have a new location for her meet and greet in Adventureland at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Moana is moving from her original location of One Man’s Dream at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
7. Stitch’s Great Escape Will Run Daily & Meet Stitch at Tomorrowland
Stitch’s Great Escape was downgraded to a seasonal attraction in 2016. However, guests visiting from May 27 through August 19, 2017 may experience Stitch’s Great Escape Daily from 10am to 6pm daily.
Also, Stitch’s Meet & Greet has been relocated from Town Square area to Tomorrowland.
