1. Use this as a first introduction
For younger children who have never met characters previously and not sure how they will react, consider character dining. This is the perfect first introduction to characters for a couple reasons, one the child will be distracted with food if necessary. Also, the meeting is not as rushed or tired feeling with not having to wait in a long line first. The characters make their way to you!
2. For the Young at Heart
Even though many families attend character meals, they are not just for kids. Any guests may choose to book a character meal, regardless of age. Enjoy personal time with your favorite characters, grab photos and autographs to last a lifetime.
3. Some Disney Dining Restaurants Will Cost Twice As Much
Meaning, instead of one credit certain signature Disney Dining Credits will cost two. Decide if this is worth it to yourself and everyone in your party to spend 2 dining credits per person. These include: Cinderella’s Royal Table, La Cellier Steakhouse, Monsieur Paul, The Hollywood Brown Derby, Tiffins, In Room Pizza Delivery (select resorts), Jiko and more.
4. Characters are subject to change
All character meals have a list of common characters that may appear. At the bottom of each of these Walt Disney World restaurant pages is a note that reads, “Character appearances and entertainment are subject to change”. For example, Ohana’ has Lil0 & Stitch, Mickey & Pluto listed. It is pretty safe to say Lilo & Stitch (and other pertaining main characters to its meal) will appear, however what if another one is substituted? Therefore it is best not to hype up character appearances (other than main ones) for this reason.
5. There are Character Meals that you don’t need a Park Ticket for

6. Make Advance Dining Reservations (ADR)
Believe it or not, certain restaurants at Walt Disney World are nearly impossible to get reservations while on vacation. Advanced Dining reservations will be your friend. Guests may book advanced dining reservations up to 180 days before your arrival date (for up to a 10 days in advance from then). Be Our Guest and Ohana’ are top choices. If there are restaurants you really want, mark the 180 day on your calendar and be ready at 6am (EST) to book ADRs online or at 7am (EST) when the phone lines open for ADR.
7. BonĀ Appetit
Sit back and relax, enjoy your meal. Make sure you carve out up to 2 hours to dine at a character meal, not including travel time. Consider the time aspect when booking a character meal and then enjoy the time away from the hustle of the parks. Plus, many guests report the generous portions so bring your appetite!
