Cast Members work on and behind the scenes to make your Disney vacation as magical as possible. These employees are exclusively known as Cast Members. Working for Disney comes with its own set of rules. Being a Cast Member isn’t always easy, however it is rewarding.
1. Name Tags
A Cast Member must have their Name Tag on at all times. Their name tag states their name, just the first name, and it also states were the cast member is from. Occasionally a Cast Member will forget their name tag, resulting in a substitute name tag for the day. All substitute name tags are “Chris from Orlando”. If you ever spot a “Chris from Orlando” you will know the truth.
2. Schedules
Disney runs on schedules for fireworks, stage shows and more. Disney Cast Members help to uphold the schedules at Disney. This includes Fastpass+ times. Unfortunately even if a minute late they must refuse the guest, and stick with the schedule.
3. The Disney Point
Pointing is considered rude in many cultures. Therefore Disney invented the Disney point, which is a 2-finger point using the index and middle finger together.
4. Appearance
Disney Cast Members are only allowed to have ear piercings (one earing in each ear) and anything else would have to be removed for work. Nail polish for females need to remain neutral and nails short and males should keep hair trimmed. Any tattoos need to be covered up. If glasses are worn, must remain neutral colored with no brand names shown.
5. Characters
Those Cast Members who play characters come with their own strict rules. Such as, Height, which has a lot to do with Character roles as each have certain height requirements. Plus, those who will be giving autographs must complete signature training to get that characters signature just right.
6. Answering Questions
If a guests asks a Cast Member a question, they must answer it. Saying “I don’t know” is not an acceptable answer. They will find someone who does know or tell a story to answer your question. Especially for children who sometimes ask unique questions, characters and cast members will always keep the magic alive. Also if asking about current events, Disney characters will not have knowledge of anything outside the Disney bubble.
7. Trash
Any Cast Member is obligated to pick up a piece of trash/litter if they walk by it. Disney maintains clean parks, and Cast Member enforce this. Another interesting fact about the trash at Disney is much of it is processed underground Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World’s Utilidors with an advanced system.
8. Social Media
Cast Members are not to post on any social media platform pertaining to their job or work at Disney. This can result in the Cast Member being fired.
