Adulting is no fun! As much as I would love for Alicia’s family to be able to enjoy another Disney trip this year. I am very proud of her for doing the adult thing and paying down her debt and lowering her bills. Alicia is using Swagbucks to help her meet her financial goals. I asked her to share her progress with us. Every week she will be updating us on her earnings towards her goals.
2017 ended with a big bang at our house! When I say a big bang, I mean a huge bang to our budget. Two days before New Years Day, our main vehicle’s alternator suddenly went out. We were so bummed! We knew this repair would really affect our already strained budget. To keep our spirits high, we have set a new goal for our family for 2018. If we meet our goal by the end of 2018, we are going to take the income tax of 2019 and surprise our girls with a one week stay at Disney, and go to all 4 parks for the first time.
Here are our 2018 budget goals.
1. Earn at least $25.00/week on Swagbucks.
2. Lower our current bills. Our goal is to lower our mobile phone, insurances, and mortgage bills.
3. Pay off two personal loans from our 401K.
4. Repair both family vehicles. Once my husband has his car running again, we’ll be saving gas money each week.
5. Set up automatic payments for our mortgage. This will save us in late fees, and we will take any money leftover in our account at the end of the year and apply it to our principal payment. The sooner our mortgage is paid off, the more we can go to Disney as a family.
While it is disappointing to not be able to actively be saving for Disney til 2019. We know we’ll be more relaxed on our next Disney vacation knowing the mortgage is already taken care of and not having large amounts of debt to come home to.
(Thanks, Alicia)

Good for you Alicia! We too are paying off debt. It will be a few more years before we go to Disney but we are finding fun frugal things to do in our hometown. I am excited to see more posts from you.
