Couponing to Disney Success Story:
So to make a long story short, my daughter decided in middle school she wanted senior pics in WDW. Crunching numbers, it seemed to make more sense to buy APs and possible take more then one trip in 12 months. I saved all my swagbucks money for almost 3 years, did other money apps like shopkicks, checkout 51, Ibotta and receipt hog, bought Disney gift cards at target with my red card and got 3 APs in early 2019 when they were about $950 each. This group was invaluable in helping me get to that point! I always reach my daily goal (for maybe 5-6 years straight now), I shop through swagbucks for online shopping, and take as advantage of high MM offers (when it makes sense).
Our plan was to go in August 2020 but you know…Covid. So it got pushed back to the end of her senior year and a series of events converged for us to be able to afford 4 trips in 10 months. I wrote out the details for another credit card group and I’ll include those ss. I absolutely couldn’t have done it without swagbucks or this group! My girl decided on local senior pics but I sprung for a mini photo session in MK for her 18th bday.
I used credit card points and miles to fly us to WDW each time and to cover one hotel stay. But swagbucks paid for our food, souvenirs and things like genie +, the photo sessions and ILL. I didn’t dip my toes into points and miles until I knew 100% I could trust myself to pay off a credit card every month.
Things I did to make swagbucks earning easier:
woke up an hour before my kids so I could (hopefully) meet my goal before going to work; surveys and discover seem to work best for me. Always try to shop through the swagbucks portal when online shopping. Used a prepay debit card (like vanilla, etc) for free trial offers that are MM so I don’t have to worry about cancelling (not all offers accept them). Took tons of screenshots for anything more than 100sb so if I have to file a ticket. Also mark on my calendar when to cancel things, when offers should credit, when to put in a ticket, etc. I cashed out for discounted visa gc then used those to purchase Disney gc from shopDisney; for other apps I would cash out to PayPal and use my target red card to buy Disney cards at a 5% discount. Combined all the Disney gc into 3 main ones (one for me, one for my daughter, one for my son) and used one gc to purchase one AP. Like my daughter loves Mulan so she had a Mulan gc, used that to buy her AP.
Thank you, Joy H.!
Are you inspired yet?! What a great savings story!
