Bargain Brag

Here are my personal bargain brags from my weekly grocery shopping trips. I hope they inspire you to continue to use coupons to save for your Disney trip.

Publix had a ton of great deals last week so we stocked up on items we needed like Capri Suns (donated a bunch to my daughter’s class for Field Day) and Honey Bunches of Oats cereal. We also grabbed a couple DiGiorno pizzas that we keep in the freezer for the babysitter to make on our date nights.

In total, I got $99.48 for $59.24. Not as great as I wanted to do, but hubby was happy (he went shopping with me).

Winn Dixie had a great sale this week and I really lucked up with some clearance meat finds. They had these neat sales where if you bought a bag of dog food, you got 3 different dog treats and a can of wet dog food for FREE and if you bought 3 select General Mills cereals, you got free milk, bagels, cream cheese and bacon.

I got around $115 for $48.54. They have a store card, so my total before the card was somewhere around $115.

Our local grocery store was having a GREAT sale. I got 4 family packages of Pork Loins, 6 whole chickens, 4 packages of boneless chicken breasts, an 8 pound bag of potatoes and 3 onions for $64.96. And then I lost the stinking receipt. I even dug in the trash for it and could not find it.

At CVS, I spent $10.30 and left with $12.49 in ECBs. That’s a profit of $2!

I spent $12.19 at Walgreens this week and left with $8.99 in RRs. I will also get $3.59 back via rebate. That is a $0.40 profit!

I went to Target twice last week. I spent $25.35. I stocked up on straws, yogurt and cooking soups. Things we buy often and use daily.

In total, I spent $111.79 for everything shown. Not bad since that includes enough meat for 14 meals! Sorry I didn’t figure up the pre-coupon total. It’s late and those Target receipts are so hard to read.

Total Spent: $111.79
Total Left in Weekly Budget: – $6.94 (see my other bargain brag here). I will borrow the difference from this week’s upcoming budget since I won’t need to buy as much meat. I couldn’t pass that sale up though!

I know I have been lacking posting my bargain brags. It is a lot of work setting up groceries and taking pictures and I just haven’t had time lately. I’m sorry about that. I know this is a feature that y’all look forward to. I am going to get better about it though. :)

So I made a great trip to Publix for last week’s sale. I got $223.45 for $125.15 but that also included $100 in gas gift cards!

I took $100 in cash out of our gas budget and used $80 to reimburse the grocery budget. The $20 difference will go into the Disney fund. The sale was buy a $50 gas gift card and get $10 off. So I paid $40 for the card but got $50 worth of gas.

If you are curious, the grand total on the food was $123.45 for $45.15.

Total Spent: $125.15
Total Transferred from Gas Budget: + $80.00
Total Left in Weekly Budget: $104.85

Publix had a great sale this week on crescent rolls and grands cinnamon rolls (they don’t expire until May and we will use some for dishes that we take to church). If you bought $30 worth of select products, you can get $5 back by rebate. I bought $44.54 for $24.19 and I will get $5 back via rebate. I also paid for it with a $10 Publix gift card, and I took that $10 out of my budget and will add it to my fund.

Monday’s are double coupons up to $1 at our local mom and pop store. I picked up $26.35 for $10.20. Most of this food will go to my Mother in Law.

Hubby made a run to Walmart today for some things we were in desperate need of. He got everything pictured for $30.48.

That is a total of $64.87 spent on groceries pictured.

The remaining $85.13 in the budget was spent on going out to eat (including a Wednesday night supper at church), a $30 fundraiser for the school, Valentine’s Day gifts (hubby spent $10 over budget this year, tsk tsk), etc.

There was a little bit of spare change left over that will go into the fund on Monday.

Now I am off to organize my coupons so that we will have a more productive week with stockpiling and the budget next week.

I am almost embarrassed to talk about this week’s shopping trips (ducking head). Luckily the week finished off great, but it got off to an expensive start. But the great thing about building a stockpile is that you can have off weeks without it really breaking the bank.

3 different trips out to eat: $53.31

Target trip: $9.69

Walmart runs for things like milk, cheese, bread, things to finish meals, etc: $40.70

Deposit into school lunch account: $20 (usually lasts her about 6 weeks; she gets 1-2 school lunches per week)

And finally I headed to Publix where I got $102.35 worth of groceries for $26.92 plus they gave me a $10 Publix gift card in return! Yay! So at least the week ended well.

Total Spent: $150.62
Total Left in Weekly Budget: $0

I’ve loaded up about 30% of my January bargains and sent them over to my mother in law’s house. She says it’s like Christmas when I come over. I love that because I save so much, I am able to give so much. She is such a wonderful person who has been dealt a difficult hand over the past 6 years, but I love that I can help make her life a little easier.

Since I am showing you all how I Coupon to Disney, I thought it was important that you know what I do with about 30% of the bargains I purchase.

It’s been a super busy week of shopping. I hit 9 stores (well some stores I went to more than once) and I spent about 12 hours total between organizing and preparing for the trips and actual shopping and putting the groceries away. I saved $296.54, so that’s like getting paid $24.71 per hour. Does anyone else figure out their hourly ‘rate’ they earn when they coupon?

On my first trip of three trips to CVS, I picked up the Revlon money making deal. I used a $4 ECB from the previous week and paid $1.90. I got back a $7 ECB. That’s like making a $1.10 profit. I love these kind of deals! – I bought $7.89 worth of items for $1.90.

The next shopping trip was done over multiple transactions. All in all, I bought $55.08 worth of items for $2.05 (It was a total of $12.05 but I had a $10 CVS gift card from last week) and left with $4.87 in ECBs.

I was lucky enough to receive a $10/$50 CVS coupon so I decided to put it to get use. I had 2 coupons for FREE packages of Charmin Basic Toilet Paper (from the 5 A Day program). I bought $56.67 for $20.69 and left with $10 in ECBs for next week. It would have been $3.50 less, but I bought a $4.49 card instead of a $0.99 card. I stopped to read them and fell in love with this beautiful card for my mother in law for Valentine’s Day. Since her husband passed away, we try to give her a special card each year letting her know what she means to us.

One of my friends in Florida sent me some of the hot $3/3 Nabisco coupons. I made a quick trip to Walmart before they expired to use them to get the cups for FREE. I also used a coupon for a FREE bag of the Cars nuggets. I got $64.13 worth of groceries for $19.73.

Made another trip to Walmart to stock up on produce. I didn’t take the picture right away, so I missed a few items that I had bought. In total, I got $27.29 worth of produce for $27.29. LOL. No coupons for produce.

I made just one trip to Walgreens last week. I spent $15.57 worth of items for $2.14 (I did use $6 in RRs to pay). I left with a $5 RR plus I still have $11 left from the week before.

The first trip to Publix was awesome. I got $71.43 worth of groceries for $23.29. I had a few rain checks to use from the week before. I love using them because I never miss a sale price even when items are out of stock.

The second trip to Publix was even better than the first (they were 2 different sale weeks). I bought $72.65 worth of groceries for $17.77. It was a really great shopping trip and a really great sale week.

And I made it to Food Giant again this week where I got $81.18 worth of groceries for $40.79. That includes 3 packs of turkey bacon and 3 rolls of sausage and some clearance produce items. And no sale items. It is all regular price deals, but they do double up to $1 on Mondays. My new favorite day of the week.

Total Spent: $155.65*
*I had $10.67 left from last week that I rolled into this budget.
Total left from this week’s budget: $5.02

*Note: Remember that I am building my stockpile. What you see pictured is not a week’s worth of groceries. And if you leave any rude comments about what I purchased, I will remove them. Only nicely phrased comments are allowed on this blog. :)

I had a lot of shopping to do over the past week, so I carried what was left of last week’s grocery budget into this week’s too. So the total budget for everything below is $300.

CVS had a really great sale this week. I bought $56.25 worth of groceries for $30.78. I used a $10 CVS e-gift card, but I am taking $10 out of the budget to add to the Disney Fund. I love the greeting card deal, as I keep a stock of these on hand. I left CVS with $7 in Extra Care Bucks and a $10 CVS Gift Card for next week.

My husband went with me to Walgreens this week (I had to go to 2 different stores to get everything pictured) and he talked me into spending my Register Rewards on the Alabama National Championship Shirt (it was $9.99.). So in total, I bought $42.19 worth of groceries for $22.63 plus I left with $17 in RRs for next week.

I found some really great deals at Target this week. Each of the toy sets for $3 each and I put those up for Jacob’s birthday in March. I also got 2 different things of frozen seafood, 2 bags of frozen veggies and 2 bags of shredded cheese. I got $35.32 worth of groceries for $26.07.

I love making a weekly trip to Food Giant (a local store that doubles up to $1 on Mondays). I picked up some soup that my mother in law loves, some yogurt, muffins, jelly and more. I got a total of $38.07 worth of groceries for $15.66.

Walmart was my biggest shopping trip. I had to buy Amlactin lotion for Emily (that’s $12 a bottle!), special cleanser ($6), facial lotion for myself ($6), special tape, insulating strips for our door and a lot more of miscellaneous stuff. I got $179.27 worth of groceries for $113.85.

Publix had a great sale this week. I was able to stock up on snacks, lunch food, juice, cheese, lunch meat and more. I got a total of $97.56 worth of groceries for $46.30.

And finally, I got most of the items in this picture for FREE. The Copy Paper was $41.99 with $41.98 back in rebates. The binders were $7.49 each with $7.48 back in rebates (on each). Those were all FREE with my gift card that I use to roll these MaxPerks rewards deals. I paid $14.16 for the 500 count envelopes and the Avery labels, but I will get most of that back via rebate. So that’s a total of $71.13 in office supplies for $14.16.

We also went to Jack’s today for our weekly out to eat trip. We spent $19.88.

Total Spent: $269.45 on groceries; $19.88 at Jack’s
Total Left in 2 weeks worth of budget: $10.67
