MyPoints: Earn a Rainforest/TRex/Yak and Yeti Gift Card By Reading Emails

I earned a $50 Landry’s Restaurant gift card from My Points just for reading emails. It took me approximately 7 months to earn this gift card. It is listed as a Rainforest Cafe gift card on the My Points site, but it is actually valid at all LRI restaurants.

Disney World Restaurants:

Rainforest Cafe (both Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney locations)
T-Rex (Downtown Disney)
Yak and Yeti (Animal Kingdom)

Other Restaurants (just in case you don’t end up using it at Disney World):

Landry’s Seafood
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co
Fisherman’s Wharf
And many more

The Rainforest Cafe gift card is 6750 points and it took me about 7 months to earn the points.

I have been a member of MyPoints since 2005. It is so easy to earn rewards with them….

Earn 5 points per each email you read.
Earn 50 plus points for surveys (usually 250 points) or 10 points if you don’t qualify for surveys
Earn points by shopping through their site at popular merchants on the web
Earn points by completing their special offers and bonus points opportunities (I only do these if they are absolutely free!)
Participate in the Daily Deal Share for 5 points
Print your Smart Source and Coupons.com coupons through their site. You’ll earn points based on how many you redeem
Install their toolbar to earn bonus points during the month
Sign up for Bzz Agent and earn MyPoints for participating in their various programs
Refer friends and receive 250 points each

Extra Cash: Get paid to complete surveys with Mindfield Online

Mindfield Online is another one of my favorite survey companies. I’ve tested a few products for them (they pay you and send you the product to test free!). I have even been offered some really high dollar surveys ($7 and $8!).

One of my readers joined and the same day she received TWO $25 surveys the day she joined! They were surveys that you complete daily over a 2 week period, but how cool is that?

Earn Prizes with the Nielsen Home Scan Panel

Nielsen (you know the people that track the TV ratings) has a program that tracks your shopping purchases called The Home Scan Panel. Apply and see if you get selected. They also have monthly drawings and one of my readers entered and won an iPad2!

Here’s how it works: Sign up here and upon approval they send you a scanner. You scan all the purchases you bring into your house, groceries, healthy and beauty, clothes, etc. (This is a fun thing to let the kids do!) Once a week, you hook the scanner up to your computer (or you can elect to get the scanner that submits it’s data over a landline) and in about a minute it transmits the data back to Nielsen.

You earn points for each weekly submission (150 points but it goes up the longer you’ve been a member) and then you also complete a short survey on each store you shopped at that week (100 points per store).

The points can be exchanged for a variety of prizes such as a Step 2 Easel for 34,000 pts or Dooney & Bourke® Small Tulip Tassel Tote for 95,000 points (awesome!). They have over 250 prizes to choose from.

You get 30 Swag Bucks for joining and can win anywhere from 20 – 50 Swag Bucks a day if you search until you win in the morning and in the evening. I usually win within my first 5 searches. They also have Swag Codes out at least 5 times a week that can be worth 2 – 10 Swag Bucks. I notify you of them on my blog when they are available.

Extra Cash: Earn gift cards by reading emails with RewardPort

RewardPort gives you points for reading emails, completing surveys and special offers and for going through their site to shop. You receive 500 points for registering and you need at least 4500 points to request $10 in Amazon. If you only read their 5 point emails, you will need to read at least 800 emails to get the $10 Amazon. Reading the emails just involves clicking on a link, so you could do this while you watch TV or chat on the phone with a friend. (I only do the emails.)

Your Fund: Purchasing Discounted Gift Cards

I am addicted to Plastic Jungle.In the past week I paid $22.25 for a $25 Chili’s gift card and $23.50 for a $25 Publix gift card. That’s a savings of $4.25 without using any coupons! Plus you can use coupons with gift cards so I am going to be able to really make this money stretch.

Shipping is always free with Plastic Jungle. They also have a feature that will allow you to sign up for email alerts when they get in stock the gift card you’re waiting for. If you know that you are going to buy something from a specific store and are looking for an additional discount, this is a great place to start.

Selling your gift cards with Plastic Jungle is really fast, and extremely simple. It took me less than 5 minutes to sell a gift card that I am positive that I will not use.

So check it out! It is another great and legitimate source to use to save for your fund. Just add the difference between what you pay for the gift card and the value of the card to your fund!

Extra Cash: Sell Your Old Gold For Cash

If you are looking for a way to raise a little extra cash for your vacation you may want to consider selling your old, broken or unused gold jewelry. The price of gold is sky high right now so it’s a great time to get rid of some of the pieces you no longer need. We were able to get an extra $600 for our vacation just by selling some stuff we didn’t even want!

When you sell your gold, what you are paid for your pieces will be based on the amount of gold they contain so 24k gold will be worth more than 10k. Also, if you aren’t selling directly to a jeweler you may not get any credit for any stones or diamonds so you may want to stick to selling strictly gold pieces. Some of the items we sold included broken gold chains, broken gold bracelets and old gold charms.

Here are some tips to help you get the best price…

Get appraisals from at least three places.
Photograph the pieces you are selling to make sure you get credit for everything.
Sort your gold based on the gold content (10k, 14k, etc.) and keep it separated in clear zip lock bags.
Don’t sell antique pieces or pieces that might earn more for their aesthetic value than their gold value.
Be careful selling your gold at gold selling expos or events held in hotels or convention centers. You’ll rarely get the best price.

Just keep these tips in mind and enjoy turning your old unwanted stuff into an awesome vacation!

We are couponing our way to Disney in November and I’ve been seeing all of these commercials and even ads in our local paper to sell your gold and silver. I gathered up mine several months ago and just today took it to sell (or to see what they’d give me for it. Everything I had was broken, incomplete or something that I wouldn’t ever use again. Most of it was silver and there wasn’t much. I sold it all for $228! I was a happy camper. (I took it to a place in Weatherford, TX called Cowtown Gold. They have four locations throughout the DFW metroplex.)

Extra Cash: Get paid to complete surveys with Surveyhead

Surveyhead offers me the most surveys each week. Their surveys are cut and dry. You either qualify or you don’t. Each survey is paid in dollar amounts which I like! No figuring out how many points equal $1.

You get a $5 bonus for joining and if you complete all the screeners, you will receive an additional $3.15!

You need at least $25 to cash out. You can choose from Paypal or various gift cards.

Extra Cash: Get paid to complete surveys with Opinion Outpost

Another one of my favorite survey sites is Opinion Outpost. Each point on their program is worth 10 cents. They will mail you a check as soon as you reach $5. I’ve been a member for 3 years and I get offered about 10 or so surveys a week.

Extra Cash: Complete surveys with MySurvey

If I was only allowed to do one survey company, I would choose My Survey. They are the most user friendly survey company out there. It’s easy to qualify for surveys and once you are in, you are in. You don’t have to worry about messing up an answer and getting kicked out with My Survey. I consider them stress free.

Plus you can add more than one person to your account. My husband is also registered on my account and we get survey offers that are just for him. Twice he has gotten 30 minute surveys and received $7 for each one!

Their surveys are very easy and once you reach 1,100 points you can get $10 via PayPal. Lately I have been getting 2-3 surveys a day!
