I can not believe we are already in February! That means I only have 7 months left to earn the remaining $2,767.42. That number is huge and scary! When you break it down by month its $395.34. That is challenging but doable. Lets break it down even farther. There is 33 weeks left until Oct. 1st. that means I need to come up with $83.86 a week between now and Oct. 1st. That is not scary at all! See how I did that. I broke down my HUGE goal into small bite size pieces. That is how I attack each goal I set for myself. Just remember while working towards your goals not every day or week is going to go according to plan. Some days or weeks you will make huge jumps toward the end goal. Other days or weeks it will feel like you are failing and there is no hope. It is very important that you stay the course. I promise if you stay the course and continuing chugging along you will succeed!
Today, I want to teach you all about Amazon one day deals and lightening deals. One day deals are deals on items that are good only for one day. Usually its a substantial savings off the regular price of that item. I have gotten every thing from office/school supplies to clothing items and everything in between for up to 75% off retail prices. When I say retail I mean what my local Walmart would charge for the same item. I know this because anytime I see one of these one day deals. I get on the Walmart app and type in the item and look at the price in my local store. My favorite score was BIC mechanical pencils 24 packs for only $1.79 in December of last year. I bought 10 packs to put up for when the kids need them for school. Currently they sell for $3.49 at Walmart. I saved myself $1.70 plus the gas and hassle of going to the store to buy these.
The one day deals are just like it sounds one day deals. In order to make sure I don’t miss out on any hot deals. I have built checking Amazon deals into my morning routine. I would say about 50% of the time I don’t purchase anything. I set the timer on my phone for 5 minutes. If not you will get lost in the world of Amazon! The times I do purchase something the savings are usually really good. That makes me feel like its a valuable use of my time. The best part of these deals is they usually ship free with Amazon Prime. You really can’t beat rock bottom prices on items you want and need delivered to your door!
Lightening deals, are deals on popular items that are only available for a certain amount of time with a certain amount available at that price. Usually they last 6 hours of less. Some times on top of the lightening deal price you can apply a coupon to save even more money. With these deals if you see something you want buy it ASAP. Often time the popular items sell out. With lightening deals the options are massive daily! This is where the 5 minute timer come in handy. The best way I have found to sort them quickly, while still finding the best deals is by using the filter feature on the side. You can directly click on each category, then apply filters as to what you are looking for. Then I sort discount high to low. That narrows it down for me. I wish there was a most popular sort option but there isn’t.
If you get in the habit of checking these deals daily you will save money and time. You do have to be strong and avoid impulse buys. Which is way easier online then in person. In person in stores its so easy to overspend. On Amazon, its super easy to just delete something out of your cart. I use these deals most often for buying things I know we will need ahead of time at a discount. You have to think of it almost like grocery store sale cycles. When you see something at the lowest price point stock up. Buy enough to last you until the next sale. Up front it will cost you more. But if you are organized and diligent about checking what you have on hand before you go out and make purchases. You will save you money in the long run.
How much did I earn:
On to the question of the day how much did I earn towards my Disney fund this go around! Something really interesting happened to me this week at my local HEB. I ALWAYS check my recipts before I leave the store. No matter how many times everything was charged correctly. I check anyway because you never know. This past week there was a digital coupon for $5/$20 from the meat market. Well the $5 didn’t come off even though it was added to my digital coupons. They had a meal deal offer where if you bought a fancy hot dogs (which we really like), and hot dog buns, you would get a can of chili and shredded cheese free. Well the cheese didn’t come off. I went back to the business center for the cheese they refunded me $2.50. The meat coupon I had to call the 1-800 number. I was given credit. I have 2 weeks to use it. I went ahead and took $5 from my grocery budget, as well as the $2.50 from the cheese, and added it to my Disney fund.
For Swagbucks I didn’t have any big earners this week. I have been getting lots of surveys. I earned 2,550 from surveys and swag ups, 8 from search and win, 894 and 22 from survey disqualifications. My husband did 680 in surveys. That was all he did. He has been focusing on getting our garden ready to replant for the spring. That has taken up most of his free time. That makes my total earned this past week $41.54!
1/31 – 2/5
My Swagbucks – $34.374
My Husbands Swagbucks – $6.80 (He cashed out for Walmart at the discounted rate and we added cash from the grocery budget.)
Grocery store overcharged items – $7.50
Total: $49.04
Total to date – $506.62
I am going to hold all my cash until the end of the month. I am holding out waiting for a good deal on Southwest gift cards. After I have all the Southwest gift cards purchased for our plane tickets. I will focus on the Disney gift cards.
(Thanks, Brandy)
