Have you booked a cruise for your 2016, or even 2017 vacation? This is the time of year when many people start thinking of their travel plans and start considering a cruise for a last minute winter getaway, or even for their summer travel! With so many great itineraries and experiences on Disney Cruise Line, it’s the perfect way to experience Disney magic in a different way! One of the great aspects of Disney Cruise Line is the food! We are going to take a look at dining on Disney Cruise line as we sail into the new year here on Couponing to Disney!
What are the benefits to the later seating time on Disney Cruise Line? At booking, many guests with children prefer the early seating time. However, sometimes that is not available and you are assigned the second seating, which is around 8PM. There are several advantages to this later time. First, you aren’t rushed getting back from excursions or your ship activities to make it to the early dinner at 5:45. When your child is finished, the CastMembers from the kids’ clubs will come and get your children and take them off to play while you finish eating. Third, you get to see the live show first, which is often less crowded and a bit more quiet than the later show since families with young children are eating dinner.
Where do we eat breakfast on our disembark day? You will get to have one last magical meal aboard your ship before you disembark. You will have breakfast either in the main dining restaurant you had dinner in the night before. Or, you will be able to enjoy a buffet at Cabanas on the pool deck.
What is the suggested gratuity for room service? The general guide is $1 per item that they bring to your room. However, some guests choose to tip based on how many people are eating. So if you order two items for 4 people to share, they may tip $4 to room service as opposed to $2.
What food is not included in my cruise fare? Most of your food IS included in your cruise fare, which sets Disney Cruise Line apart from other cruise lines. There are a few items on the Room Service Menu that are not included, and are indicted by a small icon. Your prepackaged snacks, such as you might buy when going to the movie or show are not included, as well as alcohol and specialty beverages. One way to save money is to buy your own pre packaged snacks to take for the shows or movies. Or, visit the pool deck before going to the show or movie to pick up a snack on the way.
What is “rotational dining” on Disney Cruise Line? Rotational Dining is exclusive to Disney Cruise Line. It makes sure that all guests enjoy all 3 themed restaurants while on their Disney Cruise. When you board, you will be assigned your dining rotation, and will then move accordingly for each evening meal onboard. Your server and table mates will also join you on the rotation.
