The Kiss Goodnight
You’ve likely heard of the ‘Opening Show’ at the Magic Kingdom, also known as Rope Drop, it’s one of the bonuses of getting to the parks before opening. But is there anything special to see at Closing time? YES! About 20 to 30 minutes after the Magic Kingdom has closed, you can take part in experiencing the Kiss Goodnight. This isn’t your typical kiss or something meant for just adults, it’s for everyone to experience and enjoy.
What is the Kiss Goodnight?
It’s a final presentation that takes place at Cinderella’s castle and includes music, color-changing lights illuminating the castle, a 3 minute narration and even a wish goodnight from Mickey Mouse! It’s simply one last piece of the magic to experience and enjoy before heading back to your resort for a good night’s sleep. On most nights it will run every 30 minutes for an hour or so after closing. It’s not listed in the Times Guide, but most Cast Members will be able to tell you the next Presentation time.
So next time you’re at the Magic Kingdom and it’s closing time, don’t follow the rushed crowds to exit the park. Hang back awhile, do some shopping (stores stay open for at least 30 minutes after park closing), pick up one last treat at the Main Street Bakery, and wait for your Goodnight Kiss!
