We have done Cape May Cafe for both the breakfast buffet and the dinner clam bake, and have had great experiences with both. The breakfast we did way back in 2003, and it was our first ever character breakfast, so of course it was greatly enjoyed, and the food was delicious as well. We returned to Cape May Cafe for the Clam Bake Dinner in August 2010 when we stayed at the Beach Club. The food was delicious with a wide variety, however, it was EXTREMELY pricey out of pocket, our most expensive meal in a week in the World, so yes I would do it again, but only if I was on the dining plan!

We have eaten here twice, our latest was this past summer for breakfast. Both times we waited FOREVER with reservations. Service was slow, and I am not one to complain but it just seemed like if we waked for a refill or something it took a very long time. The food was good, but nothing to rave about, character interaction seemed a little rushed. Don’t think we will be coming back here for a while. Always seems to take up a big chunk of our morning when we do this breakfast.

Due to last minute dinner reservation snafu our family was redirected to the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club, it was best dinner recovery meal I had ever experienced. I was angry, mad, upset and all the other explicatives after finding out the Garden Groove was not on the Disney meal plan. It very late in the evening and I was starving after Running in the Disney Princess Half Marathon earlier in the day. 1- (407) WDW-DINE quickly averted me Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. We took a water taxi and stroll along the boardwalk to get from the Swan and Dolphin over to the Cape May Cafe. The sights and smells really did remind me of being on the Boardwalk back home, I loved it. I was totally relaxed – but still starving – by the time we got the restaurant. Decor was a beach theme with pastel tones that added to the relaxation of dinner.
The dinner buffet was amazing. There was an over abundance of stellar good food. The crab legs and steamed shrimp were delicious. The dessert table was to die for. Our waiter was awesome, friendly and kept my ice tea glass full at all times. I left the restaurant a very satisfied and full customer.
On the way out the Beach Club was showing the Little Mermaid outside near the beach on a large screen. Our family grabbed beach lounges, relaxed, watched the movie all under the stars while hearing the subtle background noise of the waves hitting the beach sand. Ahhhhhhhhhh … A very pleasant and enjoying Disney evening

We ate there on our trip last week – skipped the characters and instead did the evening seafood buffet. It was my favorite meal of the trip, food-wise. Crab legs, clams, mussels, fish … plus lots of standards like roast beef, corn on the cob, other veggies, and plenty of options for the kids. Desserts were yummy and the service was great. I lost track of how many plates my husband ate! After the dinner, we walked outside and visited the beach – there was a marshmallow roast going on, which was really cool. Since we were staying at a different hotel, it was nice to visit this one and see what they have to offer – I think we might stay at Beach Club next trip!

Loved, loved, LOVED this dinner buffet. Something for everyone and LOTS of seafood for the fish lover. i ate a whole bucked of clams and crab. Mmmmm! This is on my “must do everytime we do” list!

We stayed at the Beach Club and ate at Cape May Cafe when we visited Disney for our 25th wedding anniversary. The food was excellent and my husband and I had our pictures taken with Chip and Dale. It was a wonderful experience (even for us older folks). Next year we are takeing our children and grandchildren to Disney World and can’t wait to see the little one’s faces when they meet the characters for the first time. :)

We had breakfast here the first week of September. It was one of our 9 character meals. And in the top 5. The food was great!!! The characters were great! And the service was great!!! We had the dining plan so we didn’t ‘pay’ for the meal but it was once I would pay for. We would go back here again. So many choices for breakfast — everything we had was great.

This is another restaurant that my family eats at every time we visit Disney. It’s a place not to be missed. We have only had the dinner, but it has been enough to keep us coming back. The food is amazing and there is plenty to choose from. Even our daughter has a large enough selection of food to choose from to satisfy her. I love the how they put their spin on a clam bake. The restaurant has a nice light airy feel to it so you don’t feel like you are tripping all over other patrons when trying to get to the buffet bar. I would highly recommend this to anyone that hasn’t already eaten at Cape May.

We loved the breakfast here! It’s on our list to do again when we go back to Disney!!

We have eaten breakfast here twice. One of our favorite places and a must do each trip. The food is wonderful and the character interaction is great! Donald really made the trip worth it this time when he was picking on my son! You can also enjoy the ferry ride over to Hollywood Studios when you are finished eating. An all around great experience.

We’ve been staying at the Beach Club on our last few visits, and we LOVE their breakfast buffet. Not only do they have a great assortment of food (eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, Mickey waffles, breakfast pizza, lots of different pastries, bagels, toast, cold cereals, fresh fruit, etc.), the characters are so much fun! They take their time with each table and give autographs and as many pictures as you want. We’ve had an excellent breakfast every time (and we’ve eaten here at least 10 times), and afterward you can take the 5-minute walk to Epcot.

Beautiful hotel, great place for a laid back breakfast. I prefer it to all the craziness of Chef Mickey’s. Decent breakfast buffet with plenty of options. We saw Minnie, Goofy and Donald here. The characters spent a lot of time with my kids, it was really nice.

We ate here on Easter Sunday for dinner.Food was fabulous, service was awesome.Long lines due to being Easter but we had early ADR’s. But I always move around to get what I would like to bring back to table.Same week we also ate Breakfast here. Characters were great with inter-action. Was hubby’s birthday and Minnie was there when they sang Happy Birthday to him. Plus she helped blow out candle. I would recommend this to anyone. Bit pricey for dinner but well worth it, and who doesn’t like a character meal

We chose Cape May Cafe for our Character breakfast in February. It was awesome! We made reservations for a late brunch because of recommendations from others, and I would definitely do that again. It was not as busy as earlier in the day and the characters came back to our table over and over again, interacting with our kids. The kids LOVED it! We were able to get very good quality photos with the characters over and over again! The buffet was awesome too! My kids loved the mickey shaped waffles! The food was very good and fresh! Highly recommend doing this character breakfast. Next time at disney I’d definitely go back! The servers were also awesome, very attentive and caring … even giving us tips for short cuts!!

I just love these i am trying to decide which one to bring my 7 year old daughter when we go in February so these are very helpful!!

We had breakfast at Cape May on our December trip. We loved this meal! My kids are big fruit eaters and the fresh fruit was incredible there. We did several character meals on that trip and this was the first one the kids were way more into the food than the characters! The beach outfits on the characters were in theme, but not my favorite. The staff at Cape May Cafe were incredible during out time, the food was amazing, and the characters interacted with my kids quite a bit. A lovely experience and definitely one I’d do again if the opportunity presented itself.

We just got home from Disney last night…so sad to be back in the “real world”. But, we had a blast.
We ate at the Cape May breakfast as one of our first character meals. The food was great, the service was wonderful, and the character interaction was great. I didn’t feel rushed like you do at some of the meals. My girls (3 and 5) had a blast, and Goofy was at our table for like 10 minutes…he was a blast.
I will definitely do this breakfast again, and again…I would even chose this one over some of the more well known ones. I highly recommend it!

We have dined at the Cape May Cafe breakfast once in 2010. It was much more low Key than many of the character breakfast, my guess is because Mickey wasn’t there. The characters were so cute in their bathing suits. The kids thought it was funny that Minnie wears the same bathing suit that she did in the 90s Disney World sing a long that they love. The food was good. I especially remember that the poppy-seed bread was great. It’s not somewhere we have been on every trip since then, but it is definitely somewhere we will go again.

Grill but equally as wonderful in a different way. I dream of going back to Cape May.

We have had the breakfast buffet at Cape May several times with the kids. They love the characters in beach attire. The breakfast is delicious. It is a nice open restaurant. Best thing after breakfast you can let the kids run on the beach at the beach club after and then walk or take a water taxi to either epcot or hollywood studios!! Huge Bonus!!
Pam says
We stay at this hotel for two reasons. It is close to Epcot (my kids favorite) and we can stay with all 5 of us in one room. Otherwise Disney makes you have two rooms which would actually be more expensive for us as I have two teens and a preteen. Cape May Cafe is great for a character breakfast. It also has good food for dinner if you find yourself there. It is a buffet with a great amount of seafood. We have always had at least one meal there (when we have DD) and enjoy it very much. Everything is very fresh and the characters are great.

I’m so glad you did this review… we’ve never been for breakfast but this is one that’s on our list for our next trip. we’re hoping to stay at the Yacht Club, so we’ll be right there for the fun !

We went there for the first time when we were staying at BC. It was convenient so I booked us a breakfast there. DD20 and DH are definitely breakfast people so I thought they would love it. They loved everything about it! DS21, who was in those stuffy teen years, had a blast cutting up with the characters. Goofy took his plate and they chased over that for a while. The food was wonderful too! We were all so stuffed when we left! Later that day, DD asked if I could book it again for the next morning so I did. We still have to go back and eat there every chance we get;)

Our first family trip to Disney this past October – I was a newbie and made a reservation for us on our “down” day (ha, is there such at Disney?) But we had breakfast at Cape May on a Tuesday morning. This was my favorite over all the other reservations we had (we had 8 table service and 1 show). The food was awesome, a great variety. It was the only place we had breakfast that had the huge cheese danishes and cinnamon rolls hmmm oh and those potato things they make. Wow, I need to go back, my mouth is watering :) I would definitely recommend this! And my husband wants to try dinner there too next time. . bring on October!

My family and i love Cape may so much so that last time we were on vacation February of 2011 we ate breakfast here 3 times the food is great and the characters are the best very friendly and spend a lot of time at your table!

Been to Cape May twice. Food is good especially the Oreo Bonbons

My kids are older now (22,19 and 15) so we go for dinner, not the character breakfast. If you love seafood and ribs, you are in for a treat. The dessert buffet is awesome. We time it so we can take a leisurely walk to Epcot and watch Illuninations. On our last trip last June. there were 8 of us including my 74 year old Mother. After dinner, we took the Illuninations grand gathering fireworks cruise. It was the highlight of the whole trip for everyone.

Took my 3 yr old there on our first Disney vaction in Feb and we loved it!! We went early and the buffet was clean and the food was perfect. For the price I felt it was our best dining experience at Disney. Way better then the food courts at the hotels. And the characters really took their time at the table with my little guy. Minnie colored with him and Goofy was sniffing his head:). We would definatley go there again. Also the beach club hotel looks beautiful hopeful I can coupon my way to staying there next trip!!

We have only eaten here for dinner but I wanted to say that after dinner the wait for the bus to MK was horrible it took for ever to come and then it stopped at another hotel before we got there, we left dinner shortly after 7 and almost didn’t make it to the 9pm lights parade. But the food was good and so was the service, we went on the night of our anniversary and the brought us a little truffle type cake that said happy anniversary on it, but we were too full to eat it!

We ate here years ago (10 I think) but just were back with the whole family again in December (we loved looking at the resort’s Christmas decorations also). Oh how my adults sons (22, 21) loved having their pictures taken with the characters! Heehee!!! Our family, husband and sons, 22, 21, and 12 along with myself, very much enjoyed our meal. There is something for everyone. I wouldn’t hesitate to make another ADR for this character meal. Of course, its more of a chore to get to this location if you aren’t staying in a Epcot resort but its definitely worth it.

We had bfast at Cape May Cafe and loved it. The buffet was wonderful and the characters were just a nice incentive. Bfast is my husbands favorite meal so he was very disappointed that we didn’t do the Cape May Bfast on our last trip.

My family ate at Cape May Cafe for dinner, so not the character meal. We really enjoyed it and I would like to try the breakfast on one of our trips.

We love it! And the kids love playing in the sand before and after breakfast. This last visit my littlest one got sick during the meal and they were so quick to help us – cleaned everything right up and helped us with towels. While we hated to have it happen I was amazed at how great they were with us! I don’t think anyone around us even knew…

I love Cape May Cafe! It’s a great Character breakfast buffet and features one of my favorites- Minnie Mouse! The characters were great about coming around to each table and stopping for pictures. The food was also great- lots of options!

So, here’s my opinion on Cape May Cafe. First off, I am a very picky eater and I am not a breakfast person, but yet the rest of my family is big breakfast eaters. I have been to several breakfast places incl. lots of characters and this is definitely one of my favorites! The food is amazing and I always leave feeling full and pleased. The characters are always interactive and I love seeing Goofy and my daughter just loves Disney characters so she enjoys it. The pic above was when she would say “Donald Duck, quack quack quack” he was so good with her. I have never had a bad experience here at Cape May Cafe and I’ve gone (I honestly can’t even remember) so many times. As for times, if you have passes or can spare a day, or maybe it’s your last day. The best time is towards the end of the breakfast. There aren’t as many people, the food is still coming out fresh. Plus the characters are more interactive IMO. I think this past vacation was the first time we did not go to Cape May Cafe.

We went last summer for my son’s birthday. I made reservations about 3 weeks in advance. Although we had reservations we still had to wait awhile but the service we received was great. My son loves Goofy and Donald so this was right up our alley. The food was good. The chef came to our table and made some things from scratch because my kids have food allergies. The characters spent plenty of time with us. The only thing with this character dining is you are taking pictures at your table or with other guests’ tables in the background. I wish they had a place where you could take pictures with the characters away from the food. That’s just me maybe. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a character dining experience.

Our daughter loves Minnie Mouse therefore she loves the Cape May Cafe dining. On our first trip to Disney I had no idea how far in advance to make character dining reservations…oops! We lucked out with this one last minute (literally the night before we were leaving due to a cancellation – they always have some cancellations for the early morning reservations from families who are just exhausted from being at the parks all day). Regular Disney character breakfast food, good visits from Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. On our 2nd visit we returned and celebrated our daughter’s 3rd birthday…Minnie spent ALOT of time, personally delivered her cupcake, everyone sang, she posed for pictures, put on our daughter’s birthday hat, etc. Just one piece of advice, make sure you go to the right resort…we made that mistake the first time…lots of beach themed resorts! Have fun!
