Disneyland can be a great destination for families looking for an easier, less planning involved type of Disney experience. In fact, as you are reading this right now, I am flying to Disneyland~Walt Disney’s original park~to experience first hand the magic and nostalgia of this magical place on the West Coast. While most of us who may read Couponing to Disney have enjoyed a trip, or may be planning a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, there are also many who enjoy their trips to Disneyland! So today, we are going to take a look at some of what Disneyland has to offer, and help you plan that next trip, or your first trip, to Disneyland.
Is there FastPass Plus at Disneyland? Not at this time. Disneyland currently uses the paper FastPass system, as many of us enjoyed at Walt Disney World before MyMagic Plus came about. The FastPass machines will not offer a new FastPass ticket until the previous one has expired or been redeemed. It may be helpful to check the Disneyland park maps to see where the kiosks are located, as well as which rides are eligible for FastPass.
If we are staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort and Spa, may we use the pools at the Disneyland Resort or Paradise Pier? Unfortunately, no. No matter which resort you choose to call “home” during your trip, you are only allowed to use the pools at the resort where you have a reservation.
Do the rooms of the Disneyland Resort Hotels have refrigerators and microwaves in them? Yes. One of the great benefits to staying in a Disneyland Resort Hotel are the great amenities! This includes a refrigerator and microwave in the rooms. Another other great benefits of staying on site at a Disneyland Resort is in-room package delivery, free transportation, and Morning Extra Magic Hour.
What nighttime entertainment options are at Disneyland? There are two family friendly, magical nighttime entertainment options. First, you can enjoy World of Color at Disney’s California Adventure Park. This is a show that features recent clips of Disney Pixar Movies and classic Disney movies against an immense water screen with fog and laser effects set to a soundtrack. The second option for nighttime entertainment is Fantasmic at Disneyland Park. Mickey Mouse is the host for this show, much like at Walt Disney World. Your favorite characters appear, and as always, good wins over evil. Both the World of Color and the Fantasmic shows at Disneyland have the option of reserved seating with a dining package.
Are there Good Neighbor Hotels in Anaheim? Yes! Actually, with only three on site Disneyland Resort Hotels to choose from, the Good Neighbor Hotels are very popular. While you don’t get the Extra Magic Hour in the morning, many have free breakfast and are in walking distance. You can add the Disneyland park tickets right to your hotel reservation, and have a fantastic time even at a Good Neighbor Hotel!

you are only “allowed” to use the pool where you have a reservation, but a cast member told us that this is the policy, but there is no distinguishing between the 3 hotels. Your room key works at any of the three and the key doesn’t even say which hotel you are staying. We stayed at the Grand Californian and Paradise Pier last week!
