There is a great big beautiful list of ways to grow your Disney fund. Some of them may seem obvious , and some of them may surprise you in how quickly they add up. As I continue to work on expanding my Disney fund, I’ve been exploring a variety of techniques and sharing them with you!
Today’s method of growing your fund was one that I was super skeptical about. Like, when I first heard it, my eyebrows could not get any higher. I was waiting for someone to jump out from behind my computer and yell, “PSYCH!” Is that still a thing people say?
But once I broke it down step by step, I realized that this method has the potential to not only save you money for your fund, it saves you money ON your trip, and presents you with some great dining options to boot. Sounds awesome, right? Are you waiting for me to jump out from behind your computer and yell, “PSYCH!”? Not going to happen, because this, my friends, is 100% legit. Let’s break it down.
Landry’s is a company that owns some of your favorite places to eat like Morton’s Steakhouse, Claim Jumper, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, among many others. Their Select Club is a rewards card where you earn points and reap benefits based on how you use the card. Pretty standard, right?
Except for one thing. Four of the restaurants that Landry’s owns are on Walt Disney World property. You read that correctly. Landry’s owns the TRex Cafe and the Rainforest Cafe, located at Disney Springs, as well as Yak & Yeti and the Rainforest Cafe located at Animal Kingdom. This means that you can used your Landry’s Select Club benefits at these locations as well as earn more benefits while you’re on your vacation.
You can join Landry’s Select Club at any of their locations. You will pay a one time $25 enrollment fee, but if you use your card wisely, it will not only pay for itself, it will put some money in your Disney Fund. Here’s how:
Welcome Reward. When you sign up for the Landry’s Select Club, a $25 welcome rewards is added to your account automatically, so you’ve already earned back that enrollment fee. Use some of this money to pay for a meal at TRex Cafe, Rainforest Cafe, or even Yak & Yeti.
Birthday Reward. Another $25 reward is added to your account for your birthday month. If your birthday month happens to line up with your Disney trip, you have part of your meal paid for. Even if you are using the Disney Dining Plan, you can save one of those credits and use it for a two credit experience like Be Our Guest, and use your rewards dollars to enjoy a meal at one of the Disney Landry restaurants.
Priority Seating. This one is huge. Seven days a week, Landry Select members receive priority seating at all Landry restaurants. This means that if you show up at the ultra popular TRex Cafe in Disney Springs without a reservation, no sweat. You’ll get seated with minimum wait time once you flat that Select Club card.
Earn Points. For every dollar you spend, you’ll earn 1 point. When you earn 250 points, you get a $25 reward. Rewards and points are valid 12 months from the day of earning. By choosing to eat at a Landry’s owned restaurant for those special times you go out to eat, you’ll be able to earn points that can be used at a meal on vacation. When you hit a $25 reward, you can consider that in the Fund!
Gift Cards. Earn points when you buy gift cards. So this is my favorite way to work towards your Fund. Let’s say you take $100 out of your Disney Dining budget and buy $100 worth of Landry’s gift Cards. You have just earned another 100 points towards your next reward AND you can use those gift cards as your payment at Rainforest Cafe, TRex Cafe, or Yak & Yeti. If you spend all $100 of your GC on a meal at Yak & Yeti you’ll earn 100 points, which combines with the points you got when you purchased the GCs, for a total of 200 points. That’s only 50 points away from your next reward.
The other great thing about Landry’s Gift cards is that you can often purchase them at a discount at places like Costco or Sam’s Club. Going with our above scenario, you can take $100 out of our dining budget to buy Landry’s Gift Cards. You buy the card at Costco, where the deal is a $100 card for $80. You then take that extra $20 and put it right on your Disney fund!
But that’s not all! You can also cash out for Landry’s gift cards at many of the popular apps and survey sites. Let’s say you reach 2500 SB on Swagbucks. You can redeem that for a Landry’s Gift Card, put it aside for your dining budget, then take $25 out of your dining budget and put in into the Disney fund!
Did I mention you can also used your GC AND earn points on their merchandise at the gift shops? Gift cards are the (literal) gift that keeps on giving!
Like with all deals, be sure to do your research to make sure this is the best fit for your family’s vacation needs.
What do you think, does the Landry’s Select Club sound like it could be for you? Are you already a member? Have you ever eaten at one of the Landry restaurants at Disney? Gimme all your opinions in the comments!
