5 A Day Spreadsheet
One of the greatest resources for coupons is directly from the manufacturer themselves. That’s why I started 5 A Day (see details and info here). Monday – Friday I post 5 companies for you to email.
I started this program in July of 2009 and so far we have emailed 360 companies! You can find details on what I have received below.

{ 170 comments… read them below or add one }
Now this is pretty handy. I go in streaks with the five a day. Somedays i just don’t feel up to being creative. Nice, i feel a resolution coming on….not yet though
This is awesome!! I really really like this and it will help keep track so much easier than before! YOU ROCK!
Thank you!
Love it !! I really want to try to do this and this will make it so much easier. It might be more like 10 a day for me at first though !!!
How awesome & helpful!!
I want to thank you so much for all the hard work you do. as soon as I discovered your site (probably 3 months ago), i started doing this. It works. I love coming home from work and getting these little gifts. I have gotten so many free things. It is amazing.
I love this! It is a way better setup than what I was using lol! Thanks!
Wow! You are so organized….I admire that!
I just tried the 5 a day for the first time a few weeks ago and LOVED the amazing coupons that I got in the mail. I just did today’s 5 a day and we’ll see what happens! Thanks for the great list.
This is almost the same way I set up my spreadsheet and I have gotten many coupons sent to me as well.
Thanks for getting me started on sending emails to companies.
I’ve created an almost identical spreadsheet (great minds!) Mine is in Excel and has four columns: the brand and specific product, the date I contacted them, the results (coupons, etc.) and the type of email (compliment, complaint, query, etc.) Helps me not email the same company twice! I’m now going through your list to catch up on all the 5-a-days I’ve missed! I love all the coupons I’m getting from this!
I have been writing to companies for about 6 months now, but only recently stumbled upon your spreadsheet. What a wonderful tool! Thank you for sharing! If I might add a few suggestions of companies that I have found to be generous and sent free coupons (my favorite!)…..try Chloraseptic, Tony’s Pizza, Comstock, Reames Noodles, Eckrich, Jolly Time Popcorn, Nature’s Sweet Tomatoes, Alka Seltzer and Klement’s Sausages.
Good luck everyone!
This spread sheet is awesome….I have told all my friends that this 5 a day deal WORKS! I start in late April and by summer I am rollin in coupons to keep my stocked into the fall! I love it! Thanks for all you do….you keep me looking good here!
Awesome spreadsheet! Wish the font was a little larger! When I printed from the Adobe file to keep track, it came out really small! Thanks for sharing! This is going to be great!
Wow! Thanks so much! Great work!
What do you say when you email these companies? Do you just ask for coupons?
Wow this is just incredible (or am I just excited about the little things?). I printed the pdf but the text is teeny and difficult to fit my notes in the blank columns. Can you post an editable Excel or Word file so I can adjust it to print larger? Thanks so much!
Just another one to add….
I was inspired by your 5adays and wrote a quick email to Turkey Hill about a new “limited edition” icecream flavor – Double Dunker – that my family LOVED. 3 days later I had an envelope with at least 10 coupons in it for all their different products
Sweeeet!
I emailed Kraft about Digiorno pizza and they emailed me back and said that is not a product of theirs…but it is listed as a product on their website. Weird huh?
HAHA that is so weird!
they were correct that Digiorno is no longer owned by Kraft, they are also part of Tombstone, and both were bought out from Kraft by Nestle earlier this year. (they are both made in the town i live in)
I e-mailed about a prodcut that I love (can’t remember which one) and I got an e-mail back saying that this was a Quaker product and was not theirs. OOPS!!!
Digiorno is owned by Nestle actually, not Kraft.
I emailed Cole’s Garlic Bread and they responded with an email telling me that I can find a coupon on their website.
I got the same reply from Cole’s.
Thanks for creating 5 a day! Received my 1st coupon! $6 off Hefty bags just for writing to the company (Pactiv) & advising how much I like their product! Grabbed the box right off my shelf and put in the UPC & manufacture code. Awesome way to “earn” coupons and very helpful in such a tough economy. Thank you for the idea! –MJ
Do you guys ask for coupons when you compliment the company ? or complain? Just wondering. I have been doing both asking and not asking. ! Which is the better thing to do ?
I don’t ask for coupons. I used to and I never got them. Now I just e-mail them and tell them what I like or don’t like and they usually send coupons
I’m just completely honest with them. If I like their product I let them know why I like it and if I am disappointed in their product I let them know why. I usually get the free products more often when I do have a complaint. I’ve been the luckiest with Cascade (I emailed them when my dishwasher detergent was extremely watered down and they emailed me back & said they had a shipment that got frozen and then thawed out and they sent me a coupon for any product for free with no price limit. I got to purchase the biggest tub of Cascade tablets for $18.00). I also had great luck with Nivea when I tried their goodbye cellulite product I was very disappointed and they talked to me on the phone and then sent me a check for $26.00!!
It’s really a great idea. As consumers, especially in today’s economy, if we are not happy with a product we should email the company. Especially when you spend your hard worked money on a product that doesn’t stand up to your expectations. When I have a compliment (which is most of the time) , it makes me feel good to send a nice email and you know it has to make the company feel good to know they are out there making good :)
I’ve also done this with restaurants, I took my mother out for her birthday and we had the best waitress ever. She went out of her way to make my mom feel special and even gave us free dessert for their & to take home! I emailed the company and they sent me a thank you card and 25.00 gift card saying how much it meant to them to hear a kind word :)
I emailed Sunny D with a compliment and they just said thanks and referred me to their website for coupons. The coupons are no longer available on their site. :(
Hey kristen, i was wondering if you could also share a link or something to the actual Excel file you’ve started. Or is there a way we can access the Excel doc. you have on here? I noticed on the PDF that the links to the companies aren’t available…
I’d love to start participating in the 5 a day, but also wanted my own excel spreadsheet to keep track of my progress…This is great and I plan on using the money we save for our Disney trip next fall.
Thanks!
Cassie
I created a downloadable excel version. ( most brands are the same, some I added ) You can find it at: http://garysaves.com
Gary…thank you so much. I just looked around your site. Looks good. I’ll be sure to check back often!
Just a heads up, the Act II popcorn link isn’t valid anymore.
Im new to this and was just wondering do you guys ask for coupons or just compliment them and they send them to you?
I just let them know what I think of their product – good or bad – so I only email companies whose products I’ve actually used. I don’t ask for coupons because the few times I did that I was told to “check the website”, “check the paper”, “check such and such magazine”. I don’t buy a paper or magazines, so I quit doing that and just give feedback.
This is a awesome website !
I wanted to thank you for what asuper job you do. I started emailing compainies 2 months ago and this is what I have received-Raid coupon book, Luigi ice cups 2free and 4/.25 coupons, Oust a thank you, Sister Schuberts free product, Little Debbie refund for product, Immaculate Baking 2/$1 off coupons, Chiquita 2/.55 coupons off salad blends, Coles Bread a thank you, Congra foods egg beaters .50 coupon, Mt.Olive 1/.55 coupon, Nabisco complaint 1 free product, Smart Balance Milk nothing, Aleve free coupon ans misc. coupons, Johnsonville sausage 2/$1 coupons, Pepperidge Farm 1/.50 coupon, Lysol Soap Pump complaint 4/$1 coupons for refills, Purina Tidy Cats 2/$2 coupons,Red Baron Single complaint 1 free product, Breyers Ice Cream 1 free coupon. Thank you again Kristin.
I just started this and love the spreadsheet. So far I received Sally Hansen (2) ea of $5, $3, & $1, Splenda 3.00 off any product, conversion magnet for fridge, recipes book and koolaid/splenda stirring spoon, Smuckers (2) .55 off any 1 smuckers, Pillsbury came from Smuckers though (2) .35 off any 1 product. I am so amazed and very please so far. I thought Sally Hansen was very generous because they also included other names like N.Y.C. and Splenda was also very generous. Thanks for all your hard work, I started a FB page to share links and websites like yours. You are truly amazing with all the hard work you put in. I am also a huge Disney fan and you have inspired me to save for our next trip.
Thanks again!
I have complimented the Kimberly Clark company in the past and have gotten coupons. However, the last couple of times I haven’t gotten any. Has anybody else experienced this? Their brands are Kotex, Viva, Huggies, Cottonelle, Kleenex, and probably a few others.
I recently contacted them through their Poise website and they sent me 4 $.75/1 coupons.
I complimented Huggies and received a coupon for a free jumbo bag.
I emailed them today and all I got was a thank you. did they tell you they were sending you something?
Thank you so much for this list, I have done some of yours from the 5 a day and also ‘cherry picked’ my own on certain products we use. So far I have been really happy with what I have got from them. It is nice to get the ‘fun’ mail. The bad part of this is that I am not a good writer so it is sort of hard for me to come up with what to write.
SO, I have gotten a few emails from the companies I wrote recently telling me they will be sending coupons and a few just saying thank you. I got an unexpectedly strange response from crayola today about the compliment on their washable markers. I told a quick story about my daughter deciding her walls needed more color and then my delight in realizing the washable actually meant washable. Well the wrote me back….
“Thank you for sharing your enthusiastic comments about Crayola(R) washable markers with us. Our company receives hundreds of letters and e-mails each week. Most are inquiries for product information. Few people take the time to write and share their thoughts and experiences with us.
We manufacture many Crayola products in both washable and non-washable formulas. Washable products include washable crayons, markers, paints, finger paints and watercolors and are identified as washable on the package.
Crayola washable products provide color and creativity with less clean up. While I am relieved to hear that you were able to wipe the marker stains from the walls and doors, I wanted to share some important information with you about Crayola washable products. Our washable markers and paints are only designed to wash from skin and launderable clothing. The packaging contains an advisement to keep these products away from wallpaper, painted walls, finished and unfinished wood, vinyl, carpeting and other materials that cannot be laundered.
We appreciate your contact. If additional assistance is needed, you may reach us by telephone at (800) 272-9652 weekdays between 9 AM and 4 PM Eastern Time or e-mail by visiting Crayola.com.
We wish you a colorful future and hope you continue to choose Crayola products for your creative needs.”
Not exactly what I was hoping for. :)
Sounded like a form letter. Sigh..
I got a similar response from them when I emailed them for the 5-a-day. Basically a “thanks-for-emailing, we’re glad you like Crayola” email reply. Not what I was hoping for either but then again, I suppose not EVERY 5-a-day results in a freebie bonanza. :-)
Thank you so much for the list. A month or so ago I was reading All You Magazine and I was thinking (as I was cutting out coupons) that I should start a list of products my family uses and contact these companies.
I thank you with all my heart for starting this list.
i tried to download the pdf, and it was blank!?! is it supposed to be blank?
The pdf was blank for me too. I don’t know how to let her know.
I have always been a coupon fanatic but ever since i stumbled onto your site, i’ve doubled my savings! I was inspired to write nivea b/c i go through a lot of lotion, and they sent me 2 trial size samples and abotu 15 coupons!
I emailed a compliment to Reser and I could not belive what I received. I received 5- $8.00 coupons and 4 – $.55 coupons. That is a total of $42.20 (not including doubled coupons on the $.55) in free stuff. I was stunned.
Wow! That is terrific.
My mother-in-law just scored bit-time! She recently emailed Pepsi with a complaint and they sent her two coupons, each for a free 24-pack of Pepsi products!!
Wow!
I just started yesterday and have gotten an e-mail from the 5 I picked to start with. Two of them, Ziploc (SC Johnson) thanked me and said a complimentary coupon was on it’s way for a project picked for me. I also got one from Nestle Purina (Tidy Cat) thanking me for taking my time to let them know how much I love their product and to be on the lookout for coupons from them to use for future purchases. :) Here is hoping I get a surprise from Reynolds, Hefty, and Annie Ann’s. Even if I don’t I love sending notes of happiness thanking them for great products. Still have to do 5 today and can’t wait to see who is next.
I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now, and just recently I emailed a few of the companies on your 5 a day list. What got me started was when you put Popchips on your list. We love them! I emailed the company and got a very nice personalized email in response and they asked for my address so they could send coupons. Within a few days I received a personalized note in the mail with a try me for free coupon, BOGO, and $1 off. I was so pleased with their response! Reynolds, on the other hand, sent a form email and I doubt I’ll be seeing anything from them. You win some, you lose some!
Just started doing this a few weeks ago and am already receiving coupons in the mail. Thanks for such a great idea and it feels good to pass along thank you’s to companies that create such beneficial products. By the way, Huggies was the first to respond with 3 $1 off coupons.
love coupon
I don’t have time right now to read all the comments, but I recently emailed Goody about their Stayput hairties and how much I love them… They sent me 5 sample packs (5-8 ponies each)! I got them the NEXT DAY too!!
Wow that is AWESOME!
I sent an e-mail to Bare Essentials complaining about the customer service in one of their boutiques and they gave me a choice of any free lip product. I was surprised! Thanks for the inspiration to message companies with our appreciation and/or issues :)
I got my first reply in the mail today. Splenda sent mt $3 off coupon, two small recipe books, a plastic stirring spoon, and a coupon off lactaid! So worth my one minute thank you email!
Thank you for this page. I have never written to a compnay before, but I was truely happy with Del Monte and their prodcut Pup-peroni combo bites. I chose this product after my sick puppy had to have his tonsils out and I thought I would let them know.
I wrote to them last night and this morning I had an email from them thanking me and it stated that they were sending me some money saving coupons
Thank you again
I just wanted to say thanks for this, I have been following you for some time now and i have just recently started the 5 a day. In the past several days I have either called or emailed over 50 companies, I have already recieved multiple thank you emails and with some saying coupons were on the way so thank you so much for this.
Thanks for this spreadsheet….
I’ve loved the mail I’ve gotten not to mention all the free stuff. My jackpot this year was with New York style bagel chips. I sent a email complimenting the flavors I’d tried and liked and got a xmas card thanking me along with THIRTY free prduct coupons to use/share if I wanted. It made my week so I sent back a Christmas card thanking them and giving them free coupons to the restaurant I work for. SO awesome!
Thanks for doing this! I just went through the A’s and B’s while sitting here watching TV with the family! It was so easy to find products we use and enjoy.
Hopefully we’ll have good results like you did!
Thanks again!
I hope you get lots of coupons!
Hi, I was just wondering when you got the coupons listed above. I wrote the same companies and some that you have listed that you got a FREE item coupon I did not. Just wondering if it was a while ago or maybe what you worote? I always compliment and relate to the item I am sending for. Some info would help so much! Thx!!!
I think it is really random on what they send out. I have complimented Huggies and they have sent me a few $1 off coupons, my friend sent an email the same day and she got 1 coupon for a Free Jumbo Pack and several $3 off coupons. I think it just depends on the rep that reads them.
thanks again for this list. It’s so easy to use! I have worked my way through the Gillette Venus Razors. I’ll try to be better on letting you know what I get!
Hey Kristin!
I’m working on my 5 today and found your link to Vlasic isn’t working – but this one is:
http://www.pinnaclefoods.com/Contact+Us
Not sure what else it’ll be used for, but thought I’d share the new link.
Thanks for putting this together. Can’t wait to post my mailbox goodies!!
Sent one out of five the other day- Apple and Eve- got four .50 off q’s – my publix doubles it so it gave me 12 (4 – three packs) free boxes of apple juice. – thanks
This is really interesting, You’re an overly professional blogger. I have joined your rss feed and stay up for looking for extra of your excellent post. Also, I have shared your web site in my social networks!
I just had a thought. Mott’s Applesauce. I grew up with it and LOVE it and I know my 3 year old and the 4 and 2 year old I nanny just LOVE them. Thought I’d pass that on if it’s something you and your family enjoy. Hopefully I get something good back because we go through applesauce like it is going out of style!
http://aleve.com/products.php
I just got 2 brick coupons $2/1 Aleve products here!
A couple of months ago, I tried Finish Quantum. We found it left a film on stuff in the dishwasher and didn’t clean as well. If you have tried it and aren’t satisfied, there is a money back offer here!
http://www.finishdishwashing.com/finish-challenge-form.pdf
Thanks so much for this list! I’m on vacation and determined to work through all the products we use in our house. I’ve had great results in the past. I just found this brick coupon and thought I’d share with you. Thanks again for helping us all to save, and for inspiring us in other areas of our lives!

Kristin – I have been rockin the coupons lately…and am now going to start the 5 adays….am wondering though if there is a downloadalbe spreadsheet doc that will work on Excell or Access…so that we can keep track of our progress as well…I saw this question asked in July 10…but was unable to find a reply….Thanks….I am not the most computer savvy person…so I anticipate asking my hubby for some help once I get a response! lol!
I created a downloadable version. ( most brands are the same, some I added and organized ) You can find it at: http://garysaves.com
I started emailing some of the companies, but I’m not really sure what to say. If I didn’t specifically ask for coupons they just say thank you. If I do ask, often times they tell me to check the paper…..
Any advice on what to say?
How do I get the spreadsheet to use for myself without having to create it again? Sorry, I am new to all this.
Thanks in advance for your amazing help and support!
Mahalo!

I believe that avoiding ready-made foods will be the first step so that you can lose weight. They will taste fine, but processed foods include very little nutritional value, making you feed on more just to have enough vitality to get through the day. For anyone who is constantly consuming these foods, switching to whole grains and other complex carbohydrates will make you to have more energy while feeding on less. Interesting blog post.
I was also inspired by your 5 a Day idea. Rubbermaid recently started making glass food storage containers, which is something I have been looking into recently with all the concerns about plastics. As a long time Rubbermaid customer I was very excited about the new product and let them know so through an email. I just received an email today stating that they will be sending me a certificate in the mail to redeem anywhere Rubbermaid products are sold. So, you can add Rubbermaid as another company to write.
How do they send you coupons if you write to them via email? Do they ask for your mailing address or send you a link or???
All of their customer service sites ask for your address. In each email, I compliment their product(s) and ask to be added to any mailing lists they have. Most of them will mail you GOOD coupons. I just got 2 free cover girl products worth $20 for free. I would have never spent that much on mascara and eyeliner w/o them. I then keep my own spreadsheet to keep track of when I wrote and what I received. They all wipe out their database every 120 days so you can write again quarterly. LOVE IT! (So far, I’ve gotten free bread, cover girl products, Clorox bleach along with good $ off coupons.) Good luck.
Melissa ~ Would you be willing to share your spread sheet? I have tried a bunch of times to download the one on here with no luck.
I created a downloadable version for excel. ( most brands are the same, some I added ) You can find it at: http://garysaves.com
What about writing grocery stores (we use HEB)? Has anyone tried that and gotten anything?
I JUST started emailing companies this past Wednesday and have already received 3 letters in the mail with GREAT coupons! I have only written 10 companies so far for products we use regularly, left positive funny reviews and ALL 10 replied via email. 7 of the 10 said they would be sending me a “Thank you” in the mail. One company was the “Happy Baby” company. I ended up with 4 FREE product coupons and 8 $1.00 off coupons for products. Excited to keep giving feedback and a little “love” in the mail box! Thank you for this idea!
I emailed Randall’s about a can of their safeway brand crescent rolls that was broken and falling apart and they sent me two $1 off any of their brand items
I can’t find where to download this pdf. How do I do this? Thanks! I’m excited. I just emailed Lansinoh.
May I suggest a couple of additions for your list? Better Valu and HyTop are store brands for WinCo…I have written to both through their websites in recent years and received some very nice coupons from both…also, I just wrote to Jel Sert (the larger company that makes Otter Pops, Fla-Vor-Ice, etc.) and am waiting to hear back from them. I am hopeful though, because my cousin once wrote a complaint to them and received several coupons for Otter Pops, so hopefully they will be just as generous with a customer who is full of compliments ;)
Bic has updated their contact URL to:
http://www.bicworld.com/en/pages/contact/
And states, “Please note that BIC does not send out free samples or coupons.” Still going to write them and see. Perhaps its just a deterrent.
Thanks! They are always changing their link… :(
No problem Kristin! Also you inspired me :) I have friends, coworkers and family constantly asking me questions about couponing. Many had no idea you could write to companies.
I’ve been couponing for about a year and a half now and finally decided to make a very small cheat sheet site for those always asking me questions.
The reason I mention it here, is that I put together a Google Docs spreadsheet for the brands that I write too. I used yours as a base and by hand added each link. Some products I removed because I don’t use them. Other products I added. I also organized them by category. ( I don’t buy diapers so its not in my main list. )
Wanted to share it with everyone. You can download the excel version or view my progress. Just wanted to give a shortcut to those that would rather not type the entire 300 or so products again.
Spreadsheet is at: http://garysaves.com/
Take care and keep up the FANTASTIC work!
That is really awesome! You are well organized. :)
LOL. Thanks! Digitally, yes. This epic mound of coupons on my work table begs to differ. Haha :)
gary, thanks for sharing your spreadsheet. Just a question. When I saved it, #1 it only downloaded the food (not the other sections) and the links are gone. Is there any way you would be willing to send me the one with the links? I would really appriciate it. I just lost my job and am trying to find another and don’t really have the time to make a spreadsheet myself (and I don’t know how to include the links so that you just click the name and it brings you there).
Thanks from a mom of 4 trying to keep her family going under tough conditions.
(bakfamly@ptd.net)
Contacted Amy’s as my mom loves their gluten free products. Got a PERSONAL email back within a minute or two!!! asking for my mailing address so they could send out some coupons and a product brochure. Nice!
Hi Kristin!
Amazingly, I forgot about writing to companies in order to receive coupons…when I was in the 7th grade (around 20 years ago), my teacher had us do a project where we wrote letters to companies of the foods we liked. My group picked M&M’s and another group picked Coke…we received several coupons for free items. Our teacher went and got the items and we had a major, sugar-filled party with our haul!
I started doing the 5 a day last week, but only on the products that we use or have tried. I’ve received emails back from all of the companies, stating that they’ve put coupons in the mail for me! I’m so thrilled and can’t wait to see exactly what I receive! Thanks for the reminder!!!
Kristen,
That is so funny that you say this! I too had to do this but it was in the 6th grade! I wrote to the company that produced the binders, folders, etc, with the New Kids on the Block on them! They sent me a box of free stuff!!
I use that now to get donations and free items for my son’s Little League as I am in charge of fundraising and donations! It just comes naturally and you can be so surprised at what manufacturers will send you just for complimenting them!
Found your website through your YouTube videos – I’m addicted. I wrote to 6 companies yesterday and already received two emails back with personalized responses and the great statement of “coupons are being sent”! Thank you for helping my family save, save and save. Our vacation fund is for a return trip to Hawaii! Another trick that I do to save money for vacation is my “end of the pay week deposit”. Anything left in the checkbook on the day the next paycheck arrives goes into savings. Some weeks we have $100, other weeks it is only a few dollars. But the bottom line is that we start at zero when the new pay check arrives and something is going into savings. Last year we saved over $2500 this way.
Kristin, do you mind if I link to this through my blog? I love the idea!
Would you believe I got my very first set of 5-a-day coupons ON MY BIRTHDAY!!!! Talk about perfect timing. I got 4 coupons from Brawny yesterday and two coupons from Huggies today. I’ve also received emails from 2 other companies telling me to expect coupons in the mail. I am really loving this.
I wrote to Method via website and got 4, $1.00 off coupons…I dont have any kids but I am saving for Hawaii!!!
So, I rcvd my Bar S.. and I got two letters.. each with a $5.00 VIP Coupon SWEET!
What a wonderful way to get the coupons for products you use. I just received a coupon for free Flintstones Vitamins up to $15.00 and $20.00 off misc Bayer products.
Those are awesome coupons!
I have been doing the 5 a day for about 2 weeks and i must admit they really do work just by emailing companies and letting them know about their products, i emailed several within the last 2 weeks and my mailbox has been OVERFLOWING with coupons…… A few companies have sent a email saying they dont send coupons look for them in your neswpaper or magazines…. You never know what to expect in the mailbox… Thanks for sharing this awesome deal with everyone.. I think i am becoming the 5 a day QUEEN!!! lol
That’s awesome you are getting such good results. :)
This has been AMAZING!! I have recieved emails from EVERYONE, $60 in pampers, free jar and (3) .55 off coupons from earthlands best within the first week!
How do you get theses companies to send you coupons. I tried a few times before and they said that they do not send coupons that I am to find them in the paper. What is your secret?
i have put on over aweek in looking for web page to get my coupons from. but ever time i think i found a place and i see things that i buy.i have to do survey. And them when i’m done .I still don’t get any or i get one your two.and the hold day for this. Can you please tell me where i can go and get the coupons i like and need. i live on a fixed income and it is getting hard to fine thing i want or need thank you ..
Hi,
I just wanted to add one to the list that I did quite a while ago, but was totally worth it. I had been buying Ball Park hotdogs for my 2 year old son who loves hotdogs a lot and noticed that the new packaging (the resealable zip-lock top) seemed to rip almost every time I went to open a new package of them leaving them to either get bad or I would have to transfer all of the hotdogs to a zip-lock baggie. I called the 1-800 number on the package to make a complaint, rather suggestion that the packaging wasn’t holding up the way it should. I had tried 3 packages, opening them all very slowly and still getting the same ripped result. They said they would send me out a replacement coupon for the hotdogs and I was happy with that. About 2 weeks later I got an envelope from them with 5 free package coupons in it. They totally replaced all of them and said they would check into the way the packaging was ripping for me.
Hey Kristin, Would you be willing to e-mail me your spreadsheet? I love the way you have them linked so all you have to do is click on the name and it brings you to the website contact sheet. I don’t know how to do it. I tried copy/paste but that didn’t work. I appriciate all the great tips and would really appriciate it if you would share. If not, I totally understand.
never mind…I just saw the link for it LOL
Glad you figured it out! :)
What a great idea, just sent a compliment off to Heinz regarding their 57 sauce, because my hubby loves that stuff and won’t eat steak without it :) so I let them know lol.
Lets see what comes of it lol
When I go to A1′s website and hit “Contact Us” I only get redirected to the corporate Kraft website asking if Kraft will support consumers in boycotting Television or something! :(
This is the most awesome section of your blog! I love to write companies to give them praise or express myself if I am not satisfied. Thank you for doing some of the legwork for me!
Hey guys,
I just emailed started emailing companies. I have already received 2 $.55/1 Bush’s Baked Beans coupons. I also got an email from Kibbles n Bits saying they are mailing some coupons. Also, Pledge emailed me back and said they are sending a coupon for a free bottle of Pledge!
Also, Simply Orange said they don’t offer coupons in response to my email :(
This is a great idea, I should have done this years ago.
is there a place that I can download this xls file?
So after much encouragement from a good friend (she has been raving about this site for weeks!!) I myself found myself here. I have sent out to 7.. A lot of my little ones I wanted to email are in a bigger umbrella, making it more difficult to pinpoint. Don’t want to send them 10 emails about different parts of the same company so just did it all together. Hopefully that works too. Just started today!
What do you normally say when you e-mail them?
I just said how much I loved their product. so far I’ve just gotten fairly generic responses. hopefully there will be goodies in the mail in the next week.
I have had amazing results with 5 a day…thank you! I do tend to take a break sometimes, because I get writers block :) …but have still gotten great q’s by mail (and several freebies.) Thanks again.
how do i download the spreadsheet for 5 a day? thank you
I did the 5 a Day and then a few more this morning! Looking forward to a few coupons for products that we use almost weekly!
With grocery shopping becoming SO expensive – all coupons are my highlight of the trip! How much can I save this week??!!
Just wanted to say THANK YOU for such an awesome site! I’ve just started my 5 a days and got a $2 VIP certificate for Bar S products! *tear* My first result! I almost hate to USE it…lol..but I’m headed to the store tonight. Have a great one, and thanks again!
Just received my first coupons in the mail! Wanted to say Ben & Jerry’s sent 1) 55 cent off and 1) FREE PINT!!! :D Also Michelina’s sent two 1 Free item. PLUS got an email from Monster…While they don’t send coupons (they don’t HAVE coupons at all) they are sending me stickers! Which doesn’t save me any money but will make my hubby happy :) Just wanted to let y’all know!
I need to know how to download or print the 5 A Day. It will only print sheet 1 and i cant get it to print I would like to print the whole thing so that I can keep up with who I am sending messages to.
I just received the following:
A coupon for a free bottle of Flintstones Vitamins plus additional $1 off coupons for various Bayer products
Various $1 off coupons for Turkey Hill Products
Various $1 off coupons for Tyson
I also received an email from Hostess, Pepperidge Farms, and whomever makes those Dibbs ice cream things (I am drawing a blank!!) saying they loved my story and to look for money saving coupons in the Sunday paper or at the store. They did not provide me with anything in the mail.
All in all they were thankful for the input and I was appreciative for the coupons!!! What a great idea!
I’m sorry, I don’t understand. Just how do you create a spreadsheet?
I figured it out! (Numbers always scare me. lol) Thanks so much for this great idea. I’ve written to places in the past, but never with this kind of intensity. Thanks for helping so many save $$$!
I have tried to use the links to send emails and they just say they are submitting. I think the links are invalid you might want to give them a quick check. I have tried to resubmit 15 times now for one email.
It works now. Don’t know if it was a glitch or what.
Amber, who were you trying?
I think it’s interesting that companies don’t have a set standard on what they “give out” in coupons. When I look at the 5 day results, my “results” vary quite a bit. Sometimes it’s a smaller coupon value, sometimes larger, some of the companies I’ve recieved a coupon from and there is none listed on the results page. Just interesting, I guess.
I had an issue with a $2.50 stain remover from the Orange Glo company last year. I called and asked them to replace it because the cap came off and the gel spilled everywhere. They sent me a coupon for any Orange Glo product up to a $15 value.
I just started couponing about a month ago, and this is a great way to get coupons. When I write to companies, I try to include personal experiences and not just “I love your product.” In addition to money off coupons, I have gotten complimentary product coupons. I always love checking the mail to see what I can get.
I called Kimerly Clark(Huggies) on Monday to ask about their Snug and Dry diapers. I have always purchased Luvs or Pampers for my boys so I’m a little nieve when it comes to Huggies brand. I bought two of the huge 112 count size 6 diapers, they were on clearance and I had a coupon, go figure:). I noticed in the morning the absorbant balls would be on my babies bottom, the the diaper was not ripped. So I made sure in the days to come to be very careful, making sure the diaper wasn’t getting ripped. Still, the same problem. The diaper wasn’t overfull, I was confused. I called the company asking if these diapers were clearance out and they weren’t making that line anymore, cause of this problem. She said no, there must be a defect in the diapers you bought, I’ll send you some coupons. Today I found 4 $24 coupons in my mailbox!! Holy Cow!! A couponers dream!!:) Have a great Fourth of July folks!!
I just started the 5 a days last week. When you are writing the companies, are you asking to send coupons or just complimenting their products. So far, I have just complimented their products with a personal connection. Just curious if I should ask for coupons as well.
Heather~I alway start by telling them how much I, we, or my boys love whichever product. Then try to tell a story. My most recent one was to Shout. I wrote how excited I was with my son’s first grass stain, being a new mommy, that’s exciting, then it grew to annoyance cause he kept wrecking his clothes, then how my mom disclosed her not so “dirty little secret” and how she was a “shouter” and my son’s clothes are now saved, then I wrapped it up with something like, thanks for saving my son’s clothes:) HTH!!
Thank you for the 5 a day idea. I just started doing this last week
and have already gotten coupons from Sensodyne and Bumblebee.
Each envelope had multiple coupons either for the same product
or for other items by that company.
I linked from Digiorno Pizza and sent them a email and this is what I received in response : Thanks so much for taking the time to contact us. While we’d like nothing more than to help, our company does not make the DiGiorno Pizzs. This is a product of Nestle. Here is there contact informtaion.
Needless to say the Digiorno Link is wrong and I feel totally embarrassed even though I don’t know them. I just assumed it was right I sent my email to Kraft not Nestle :(
Mind you at least I know my email was spelled correctly lol way yo go Kraft ;)
Hi Everyone,
I have, to date, sent 1 email asking for coupons (it was to Seventh Generation). Then last week I got an envelope with EIGHT $1-off coupons for any of their paper products! Talk about a jackpot! I will be sending more emails…like right now… ;)
woohoo, just got free Pantene, free Ocean Spray, free samples of Crest ProHealth toothpaste & mouthwash, Glide floss, and 4 $1 coupons to go with them, Iams, more Crest, I received 8 sample packs of Taster’s Choice Instant Coffee pack with 4 $1 coupons, and 3 .55 cents from cape cod chips coupons. I have $14.55 in coupons total, along with my samples. YAY. Thanks for this idea.
would you be able to email the 5 a day spreed sheet to me
I have have great results from your “five a day.” Have you ever tried leaving a comment on Coca-Cola’s site? …And if so, what were your results? I had a 12 pk with a couple of busted cans…and they wanted my life history! J/K. But did wanna know; the store, the number on the box, the delivery person, what time of day, do you have a receipt, ect. Thanks.
I had the same thing happen with Coca Cola. 2 of my cans were busted in my 12 pack. I emailed them about it and they also did want all my information. I had already thrown the box out so I did not have this and never emailed them back. They still sent me a coupon for a FREE 12 pack of their products about 3 weeks later. Good luck. :)
HOW OFTEN IS THE RESULT PAGE UPDATED?
I really liked your post, thanks for sharing. — Chandeliers
I’ve been doing the 5 a days for 3 days now, working through the back log. I cannot wait till all these coupons start to hit. I cannot count how many i’ve done.. My favorite so far though was DelGrosso. I was actually able to reconnect with an old friend from High School by writing to them. Crazy……
has this been updated?
Hi Kristen, I love your website. Do you have to write an actual letter to the company or can you just email them?
Thanks!
Fresh Express kindly sent me two coupons. Unfortunately, one expired last December.
Have you stopped the 5 a day. I was just wondering because I enjoy seeing what you have for the day. Thanks
Ok, I am trying the 5 a day. I have gotten a few coupons but they aren’t great. Most of the companys havent sent anything except and email and a link to sign up to the newsletter. What am I doing wrong??
This is a wonderful idea – I’ve been stuck to my computer all evening and am geeked for the mailman to come!
Two of the companies (butterball & keebler) are owned by different companies. That may be why you haven’t received any coupons from them. I only say this because I know that Armour-Eckrich owns Butterball products & Kelloggs owns Keebler products. Having said that I currently am employed by one and was employed by the other. I have seen this so much. Even more is that Armour-Eckrich is owned by John Morrell and John Morrell is owned by Smithfield Foods.
How do I sign up to be apart of this? Do you email me the company that we contact each day? I guess I am confused. Thanks!
I have a question about the 5 A Day campaign. Do you ask for coupons or do you just comment on the product and they automatically send coupons?
My email address was wrong in my last post.
The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
