And the Birthday perks keep on coming! Whose birthday? Oh, not mine. That’s over and done with. But Mr. Kristen B will be celebrating this week and the first check has already rolled in. Which is good, because it was an otherwise light week savings wise.
My only other cash out is a $10 Target gift card from Playground Crew. Some of you have asked how gift cards that aren’t instantly converted into Disney gift cards can be considered part of the Disney fund. You can go into greater depth on this topic in the Saving to Disney, but let me try and break it down with an example.
I took that $10 Target gift card on one of my Target clearance runs and put it towards some excellent toys that were on my littles’ lists for Christmas. Next, I take that $10 out of my Christmas budget and deposit it in my Disney fund. There are a variety of methods you can use, but we do electronic banking, so it’s easy to move the money from one account to another. I make a note on my Christmas budget worksheet, and simple as that, money in the fun, Christmas toys in the gift closest.
Total Goal: $3500
Last Week: $2582.26
Total Deposit: $50
Cash: $40, from birthday gifts
Gift Card: $10, Target from Playground Crew
Still Need: $2532.26
Detailed budgeting has not only helped my family save for Disney, but for birthdays and holidays as well. Are you on a budget? Saving for multiple things at a time? Got a birthday this week? Tell me all about it in the comments.
