Did you know select nonprofit organizations and more can be rewarded with Disney tickets for doing good? Disney has partnered with Points of Light to make this happen. Points of Light is the world’s largest organization for volunteer service. This program promotes the value of bringing communities together and spreading the importance of volunteer work. In return for volunteering, organizations can earn up to 20 complimentary Disney 1-Day Park Hopper tickets! Learn the steps to take below.
Step 1. Visit Points of Light and Know the Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a U.S-based school or registered 501c3 nonprofit organization
- Meet the The Walt Disney Company Global Charitable Giving Guidelines
- Allow families (including children) to participate
- Project must be a minimum of at least two hours
- Share your stories and photos
- Minimum of 15 volunteers to participate
Step 2. Planning
Next participants will want to plan and present project idea with Points of Light. Projects can be created and managed on Points of Light. Project Ideas:
- Volunteer activities that strengthen or improves local communities
- Volunteer activities that benefit the organization directly
- Volunteer activities that benefit another nonprofit organization
- Questions to think about – How will project benefit community/organization? How will you get volunteers?
- Points of Light can also help with project ideas and what qualifies.
Step 3. Get Approved & Complete Project
Once your plan is approved, go ahead and complete the volunteer project. Number of volunteers that participate can be kept track on Points of Light (learn why this is important in Step 5).
Step 4. Report Back To Points Of Light
Report back to Points of Light telling them how the volunteer went along with sharing photos and stories from the event.
Step 5. Get Your Tickets
Volunteer projects that meet the guidelines can earn up to 20 possible tickets per calendar year. The nonprofit will receive tickets earned within 30-60 after project has been approved & verified. Tickets may not be sold or bartered for services. However they can be used in creative ways such as: a contest prize, a charitable fundraiser or to reward volunteers.
Tickets earned are based on number of volunteers. Example: 15-34 volunteers earns 5 theme park tickets; 35 – 74 volunteers earns 10 tickets, and 75 and beyond can earn the maximum of 20 tickets. Multiple events throughout the year can be held to earn the maximum of 20 tickets.
