In my recent Trip Report post, first in what I imagine to be a 45 post series, I revealed that our first Disney meal of our trip was at D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs. This was a first visit for the Bs to D-Luxe Burger. After reading about it on this very blog, we were super excited about it. We’re a Fries Family (is any family not a fries family, though?) so those dipping sauces were calling our names. And it did not disappoint!
Who: D-Luxe Burger
What: Quick service burgers and fries.
Where: Disney Springs, in the town center, right next to the Disney Springs Welcome Center.
How: Cash, Credit, and the Dining Plan accepted. Meals under $14.99.
When: Open daily, 11am-11pm. Times subject to change based on the season.
Disney says: “Satisfy gourmet cravings at this ranch-inspired eatery overlooking the springs. Artisanal gelato shakes and freshly cut fries with house-made dipping sauces fully complement the savory scene that has something for every burger aficionado.”
The B Family Says: “These fries are so beautiful.”-The Little B Mermaid, age 4. “Me have some more fries, please mama.”-The Sweet B Apple, age 2. “Every time I think I am almost done with this burger, there is more to eat.” -Mr. B, burger aficionado. “This Smores gelato shake has changed the way I see the world.”-Kristen B., humble blog poster and milkshake enthusiast.
Okay, first let me say, this is a Quick Service meal, but this is not quick service like you are used to. These guys are not tossing around the word “gourmet” lightly. The portions, quality, and taste of the meal we had at D-Luxe Burger blew all other Quick Service competition out of the water. (I’m sorry! I’ll always love you, Columbia Harbour House!) It’s also not quick service like you are used to because…to be honest…it’s not as quick. Which is not so bad when you’re sitting on the patio, overlooking the lagoon, not a care in the world. But if you’ve got somewhere to be, plan accordingly. Your food’s going to take a minute.
The menu is varied, without feeling overloaded. You’re signing up for burgers and fries here, folks. There are some fun iterations on these American food classics, but just know that if someone in your party dislikes both burgers and fries, there won’t be much for them here. Unless they plan to survive of gelato shakes. Which I wholeheartedly approve of. Have I mentioned I loved the gelato shake?
If D-Lux Burger has a downside (and that’s a big if) it’s this: compared to some of the other Disney Springs eateries, there isn’t a ton of seating, especially indoors. Consider getting there a little before or after the regular meal time rushes. The counter for order taking isn’t very spacious either, so the line can get pretty gnarly pretty quickly. When we visited there was no line and we found seats easily. It was also a little before peak dinner time, around 4:45pm, on a Monday during the value season. This is a popular joint, so if you head there during peak season or peak times, make sure to plan accordingly.
I had the Classic Cheeseburger and Mr. B had the Southern Burger, a signature beef blend burger topped with Fried Green Tomato, Pimento, Lettuce, Grilled Onion, and Bacon. The Little Bs each had a Kids Cheeseburger, served with Danimals Smoothie, Carrot Sticks, and choice of a Dasani Water or Milk. Now would be a good moment to say that our littles could probably have shared a kids burger. The portions are that generous. We shared an order of Regular Sized Fresh Cut Fries, which comes with your choice of dipping sauce. Dipping sauce options were Three Mustard and Honey, Garlic Ranch, Curry Ketchup, Chipotle Mayo, Horseradish, Buffalo Blue Cheese. We did Chipotle Mayo and the Buffalo Blue Cheese, and oh my gosh, the Buffalo Blue Cheese, ya’ll! So, so good. For the less adventurous, fear not. There is a condiment bar with regular ketchup, mayo, etc.
And now, for the main event, at least in my eyes…the gelato shakes! Gelato is similar to ice cream, but it is made with less cream and more milk, and is often softer than ice cream because of the churning process. How do I know all this? Because after I had this shake I became obsessed with gelato. Real obsessed. I’m this close to opening my own gelato shoppe type obsessed. You can get a family friendly gelato shake, or you can do with the adult version that includes alcohol. I went with the family friendly Smores Gelato Shake, Vanilla Gelato blended with Milk, Toasted Marshmallow, Dark Chocolate Sauce, and crushed Graham Crackers, topped with Whipped Cream, Crushed Graham Crackers, Marshmallows and Dark Chocolate drizzle. Going back to portion sizes, these are definitely shareable. I got some small cups and both little Bs had a sizeable share of my shake. It was creamy and delicious, the perfect way to end our first meal of the trip.
Should You Go?: YES! A resounding yes. The buzz on this place is legit. I’m so glad it was our first meal of the trip. The food was familiar, but offered up something a little new. The portions were great for our hungry little family. The atmosphere is laid back and inviting. We sat outside and had a beautiful water view. And did I mention the Gelato Shakes? We cannot wait to go back on our 2018 trip.
Have you been to D-Luxe Burger? What did you think? What’s your favorite sauce? Any strong feelings about Gelato Shakes? Tell me all about it down below.
