Shopping at Disney World for the perfect souvenir is part of the fun. Learn 10 shopping secrets to know for Disney World, for your next trip.
1. Send Souvenirs To Resort
No need to carry around a souvenir you purchased while in the parks, for guests of a Disney Resort. Take advantage of the perk to send an item you bought in a Disney owned store (except food) to your resort. Simply let the cashier know, fill out a form (need to know Resort Room #) and your item will be waiting for you at your Resort usually by the following day. While each resort is different, but most of them have package pick up at the resort gift shop, you will get a phone call to your room when your item is ready to be picked up.
2. Christmas All Year Long
There are 2 shops at Disney World where it is Christmas all year long, complete with Holiday music. Both also offer fun photo opportunities, perfect to use for Holiday photo cards. Shop at Days of Christmas in Disney Springs and pose with the fun Christmas scene shown above. Or shop at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square of Magic Kingdom. This shop has a holiday sleigh, outside the shop, guests can sit in for a picture.
3. Use MagicBand To Pay
Available for guests while they are staying at a Disney Resort is the ability to charge food and merchandise purchases to your Disney Resort hotel room. Thus, carrying cash or credit cards are not necessary, as most places accept credit cards (linked through your MagicBand).
4. No Toy Guns
Guests are not allowed to bring toy guns or toy gun replicas nor can they buy them in the parks. Anything resembling a gun has not been sold in the parks since 2015, this also includes squirt guns. Prior to this guests could find Buzz Lightyear’s laser blaster replicas and more for sale in Disney World.
5. Discounts
Annual Passholders have a long list of merchandise discounts to choose from, such as: 10% off at the Basin in Disney Springs, 20% off Disney Clothiers at Magic Kingdom and many more.
Also, be sure to check your receipts while at Disney, sometimes there is an offer for you on your next purchase.
6. Pin Boards
Most Disney Shops contain a Pin Board. Trading pins is a fun and free activity (if you have pins previously purchased). It is also a great shopping deterrent for children, instead of browsing souvenirs they will be seeking out the pin board. Here are 5 fun places to trade pins at Disney World.
7. Buy Personalized Ears
Have your name or more, embroidered on the back of your Mickey Ears. Guests can do this in Magic Kingdom on Main St USA at the Chapeau Hat Shoppe or in Epcot’s Future World at Mouse Gear. This is great to commemorate a special occasion or first visit, with a unique personalized souvenir.
8. Main Street USA
The shops on Main Street USA stay open longer than the attractions in other lands, up to an hour after park closing. Therefore, save your shopping in Magic Kingdom for later in the evening. Plus, avoid the rush of people leaving immediately after park closing, while you browse the shops on Main St USA.
9. Shop The World
Epcot offers a unique opportunity to shop around the world at the World Showcase, where 11 countries are represented. Consider buying a small trinket from each country, or a small snack to try later. For a frugal souvenir from each country, collect Pressed Pennies from around the World.
